The Everything and Nothing Thread

Morning all. I've been up awhile; my dogs were really annoying this morning. I have two little dogs and a husband who gets up at 5am. So they get up with him but when he leaves for work; they think I should then get up and entertain them. Usually I can get them to settle down so I can have another hour's sleep but not today. I'm so not a morning person.

Diz: have you noticed how many cigarettes are smoked in Mad Men? I grew up during that time and I remember more cigarettes than now but not that much smoking. I've heard this is going to be the last season but I hope not. It's a great show (I guess that's why it's won so many Emmys).

Jose needs to go home tonight on shooba-looba. I have 2 left feet and could have done that routine last night.

It's going to be 102 again today. I definitely live in the wrong place. I also read this morning that we are number 5 in the nation for car thefts. I just got my dream car and it would kill me if someone took it. I wish we could move but I can't afford to give up this job.

Morning Pakey!

Sorry about your dogs. They sure can be full of the dickens, can't they?
I have a bulldog at my feet wanting me to hand over the greek yougurt container I'm eating.

I say to him every morning-- "Beau, you're an ENGLISH bulldog, there's nothing about you that is Greek."
:goodvibes

Hope your dream car is safe in your land of thievery.:rotfl:

Shelly- oh definitely- if you win we have to plan you another trip to WDW!!!:lmao: Your kids thinking it was a paid vacation------

I'm pixie dusting you-----:wizard::wizard::wizard:

I watched Grease last night with my kids. It was the first time my youngest DD- age 8 had seen it.
Guess what she's watching again this morning?????:rotfl:
She's hooked.
I remember when it came out in the movie theater and going to see it. I couldn't wait to get to HS b/c I thought it was really like that- people dancing and singing.:lmao:

Morning Pakey! :) Guess I'm lucky here. My dog likes to sleep in as much as I do! :cloud9: Of course he wasn't always like that, he will be 14 next week.

And yes - we will be having a doggie birthday party and all!! :dogdance: party:

JO- Grease! :lovestruc Love that movie. I'm glad your DD is enjoying it! I'm sure my boys would think it was dumb! :upsidedow

:lmao: My son watched it last night.

I think he liked it.:goodvibes He wanted to know how they got their hair that way.:lmao:

I love Grease! At two nearby movie theaters they are doing a Grease Sing-a-Long tomorrow night and Sunday night. I really want to go but don't have time. It looks like so much fun though.

Jo, I love the English Bulldog line.:rotfl: My dog is the same- she sees someone heading for the kitchen and is immediately underfoot with those big brown eyes.

I got an invitation in the mail today for a friend's baby shower in August and I can't wait to go shopping! I just love buying baby things:lovestruc and she's having a little girl so I can't wait to see what they have her registered for!princess:

Hello Beauty School Dropouts!
I was 21 when when Grease came out, and though I kinda liked it, I just couldn't get past a bunch of people older than me playing teenagers! I guess that was true for American Graffiti, too, but I loved that one! Go figure.

Pakey - I agree on all those smoking Mad Men. I do remember when smoking was still allowed on planes. Yikes. We also would have never just left all our picnic litter behind like they showed in one episode (Please, please, don't be a litterbug...)

focusondisney - Counting down with you! 51 days for us!

I'm off to put my hair in rollers and iron my poodle skirt for the sock hop tonight! Be there or be square!

Joan

JoBird, I'm going to show my age here. DH & I saw Grease in the show while we were on our honeymoon! So I have happy memories whenever I see or hear about it. :goodvibes

Also, how is it to have an English bulldog? My DD & DSIL are getting one this fall. I have never actually had contact with one. I love dogs, but haven't read a lot of complimentay things about bulldogs. :rotfl2:

Diznotyzed, how excited are you? I'm getting really antsy to go. I keep trying to remind myself not to wish away the summer in order to get to Disney sooner. Where are you staying? We are at Riverside then Yacht Club. 51 days, does that mean you're arriving Sept 11th? Are you flying? I would have flown then, but DSIL wouldn't, so we're going on the 12th. We stay 1 less day, but I'm just thrilled that DD & DSIL are going, so it is worth giving up 1 day! :)

focusondisney, we're so excited! I did pause for a moment realizing we're flying on the 11th, but are just glad to be making the most of our trip. We're staying at the Poly, just the two of us. How fun that your daughter and son-in-law will be with you! How long of a flight do you have? It usually takes us about 12 hours door to door - no direct flights from Portland.

Our flight from Buffalo takes less than 3 hours. Luckily we have direct flights. It has been just the 2 of us for years now. DD was only married last summer, so this is the first time they are going with us. DSIL hasn't been since he was a kid; looking forward to sharing Disney with him! :cool1:

12 hours flying sounds like torture, but Disney is worth it, isn't it? I would like to go to Hawaii, but I haven't because of the flying time. Maybe some day.

If you are there in time, Magic Kingdom does a very moving Flag Retreat on Sept 11th. We saw it a few years ago. There were more than a few tears from the crowd.

Have fun counting down!

Hello focusondisney, looks like it's been just you and me for the last 24 hours! We're finally going to be hot again here - high 90s by tomorrow, but we'll be keeping cool at the beach again.

See you all next week!

Joan

I'm late but here. I'm still trying to catch up at work from having been off for my surgery. On top of that, we are moving to a new building in a few weeks and I have all of that to hassle with too. My last major hurdle with that is getting the phone lines moved and the new phone system setup. I'm getting too old to work this hard.

I'll be at WDW in 68 days, staying at BCV. Like Diz, no direct flights for us either and we are at about 12 hours also. I think this time I'm changing in Los Angeles on the way there and Dallas on the way back. I always go with whatever's cheapest. It's usually just my husband and I although we did go in May with our youngest son (29). We used to take all of the kids/spouses at the same time but we found that we didn't enjoy it--too many different agendas. This is going to be my first trip with a friend and I'm really looking forward to it.

And I must say I'm so glad it's Friday.

Pakey, hope you're not working too hard. How are you feeling? We'll miss you at Yacht/ Beach by a week or so. As much as I want to try other resorts, I can't tear myself away from Yacht club. I love the water view rooms. So peaceful looking out on the water & friendship boats.

We're not doing anything special this weekend, stuff around the house and a nice dinner out. Our favorite weekend treat is dinner & a movie. Boring, I know. :rolleyes1

Hope you are all have a great weekend! :goodvibes

Hi, everyone!!

Super, super, super busy... gotta go back and read and see what everyone is up to this weekend.

Hope you are all safe and sound and able to relax a little!:goodvibes

Hugs to each of you!

Good morning Everything & Nothing friends! :goodvibes

It looks like a few of you are within about 1 1/2 months of your WDW trips!! :cool1: How exciting! I still have 3 1/2 months to go. I do hit the 100 day mark next week though! It seems like I have been counting down forever for this trip. Probably because I have. I had to book at 11 months out because I had a PIN that was going to expire!

Not too much going on here this weekend. We had DH's work picnic yesterday afternoon/evening. It was so stinking hot and miserable. 98 degrees according to my car. :faint: I thought I was going to melt!

Morning Sweet Nothingers!

What a day...DH and I went to the mall yesterday and walked around, then went and hung out at a bar with some of the past members of the show Survivor! We had a GREAT time together, and good news is he is OFF from work tomorrow as well:thumbsup2

Hope everyone is having a good day..

Morning ! Sitting here watching the Griswald's try to get to Wally World! LOL! :rotfl2: Comedy Central is having a "Vacation" marathon apparently.
I love those movies! "This is crazy, this is crazy."

Mom of 2 boys, I remember when my DH's company used to have those family picnics. Glad we don't have to do them anymore. ;) Actually, I don't know of many companies around here that still do them. The company he works for now has employees only, givint them the day off to go. Fine with me!

Yep, about 6 weeks or so til our trip. Made final payment the other day. Put it on Disney Visa, so we'll have lots of rewards to cover the restaurant gratuties. Of course, now the second guessing starts: should we really go there that day, can I change that ADR, will it be too much to try to.... :rotfl:

Have a great day everythings! :goodvibes

Dax, those are my favorite days, just hanging around doing all the little "nothings". :rotfl2:

But what were the past Survivor players doing? Is there a reunion or was the bar doing a promo?
