The Everything and Nothing Thread

Good morning Sweet Nothings! :goodvibes

Wow I have lots to catch up on around here. . .

Looks like there was lots of shopping talk. I think I remember Kohl's, Old Navy, and American Eagle being mentioned. I may need to get to the mall very soon! :yay:

And there was mention of ice cream! I knew we'd start talking about food sooner or later. :rotfl: Only been to Coldstone Creamery once. It was delicious! :cloud9: I think I had chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips mixed in.

Glad to entertain you all with the "butt crack of dawn" comment. I just thought everybody said that!! :lmao:

Jane - I see you were up way too late again last night! :faint:
Glad you got everything ready for your get-together this weekend.

Pakey - Congrats on the upgrade! :cool1:

Jo - Glad you and DD had a nice time shopping and at the movie!

DTDFan - I am having a hard time keeping up around here too! :upsidedow

Janet - Sounds like you had a nice time at the cottage. :goodvibes

Kymmy - I hope everything goes well for your sister. That is an awesome thing you did with your mission trip. :)

Hello to everyone else

Guess that's all for now. Took the kids and my nephew to the playzone yesterday. Went grocery shopping this morning. Just a whole lot of nothing!

Morning, Nothings!:surfweb:

Pakey, I hope work goes by quickly for you! We're almost to Friday!:goodvibes

Sorry you didn't get much sleep last night, Jo. I hate nights like those.

Not much exciting for me today... will be watching So You Think You Can Dance tonight, looking forward to that, but that's about it!

Hope you all have wonderful days!:grouphug:

Hey all!!

Rough night, lonely night...HATE HATE HATE this schedule..LOL..1 or 2 nights I can deal, but 4nights a week is a bit much.:headache:

Planning my weekend, and think I may head to Celebration this weekend for the Survivor reunion!! Richard Hatch and Russell Hantz will BOTH be there..LOL..should be interesting..

Hope everyone is feeling good, and having a good day thus far!

Hi all! Have been working the last few days. Since I'm part time & work 12hrs a day, I'm done for the week. Don't want to make you jealous, but my weekend started this morning! :cool1:

Enjoyed catching up on your posts from the last few days, tho. I must say as long as the flight is on the way to Disney, I like a butt crack of dawn flight. Coming home would be a different story!

Hope everyone is enjoying the everythings in their life & the nothings of summer! :)

Good afternoon everyone! I have missed my buds here at DIS. It's been so busy I have't had time to breathe. How is everyone?

This Nothing loves summer! I'm so happy just to be wearing shorts and flip flops! My daughters give me a bad time, though, as I frequently slip up and call them thongs. Old habits die hard.

Yay! for Pakey upgrading her flight! What a trip!

We are familiar with butt crack flights to WDW. I can never sleep the night before a flight, anyway.

Jane - Mad Men is on AMC Sundays nights at 10 p.m. and repeats through out the week. It's about the business and home lives of a group of Madison Avenue ad executives. It's set in the '60s, and is full of the office and sexual politics of the times. They get all of the details of sets and costumes amazingly right. For those of us who were alive in those days, it can be a walk down memory lane. It focuses on one character who is literally not the man everyone thinks he is, and everyone else has their secrets, too. It's dark, but I find it very compelling.

Not much else shakin' here. Ciao for now!
Joan

Hi all :goodvibes
Busy day today at work, so no time to 'DIS.

Jo: Your retainer story beats mine!! I was thinking maybe we shouldn't boil it ... but I left it up to my DS, he used Denture cleaner ... oh well it doesn't go in my mouth! The retainers today are different that your Dad (and mine too) - there were plastic with metal - my DS is all plastic - looks like those invisible braces.

Thanks for explaining Mad Men - I think I will watch it sunday!

Autumn, Paint & Pakey - I have Direct TV too, and we are thinking of switching over to Comast, since we have internet with them. My phone, TV and internet are all different providers, so we are paying more $$.

Pakey - Egpyt - what an awesome trip - the upgrade sounds definitely worth it.

You know, I've never been outside US (Canada yes, but I don't count our closest neighbors, since I grew up in upstate NY and went over the border several times, back when you didn't need a passport.) Maybe some day I will travel abroad, but a little hitch ... I don't like flying:rolleyes1

Nothin' much else today ... my DD started soccer yesterday (first time), 2 hrs. practices twice a week, 6-8pm!!!

focusondisney - I am jealous! I used to work part-time (after DD was born) and 2 years ago went back to full time ...:sad2:

But, planning a trip to Disney - December!!

Later!
J

Hello everyone!

I seem to be late to the party again. I woke up with a headache this morning. The headaches I occasionally get are thankfully not migraines, but I usually have it when I wake up, and it takes me all day to shake it. It feels almost like a hangover. Now before you start to think I'm a big :drinking1, let me state that I, in fact, drink very little for that very reason! If I drink the slightest amount, I will probably get a headache. So I'm pretty much a teetotaler! So I did my morning walk, some grocery shopping, and then went with my son to look at an apartment for him to rent. It's a very small, studio-type apartment, but the best part is that it has been totally refurbished with new paint, carpet, appliances and bathroom fixtures. So I am on cloud 9 to think that I won't have to spend hours scrubbing another child's apartment. :woohoo: I just did that with my daughter's duplex in New Orleans, and I just don't think I have it in me to do it again so soon. I know you're probably wondering why I am doing that in the first place - after all, they are grown children. But I am somewhat of a clean freak, so I feel I have to give it at least a good start. Then they're on their own with the house-cleaning. So it looks like he may have found his home for the next 9 months or so!

So, tonight I watched Shubba-lubba. :dancer: (Look back in the PP's if you don't know what I'm talking about ;)) So who does everyone think and hope leaves tomorrow? First of all, I think Lauren, Robert, and Kent were awesome tonight! I think and hope it is Jose who leaves. I would say Billy would go, since he couldn't dance, but I think the judges have finally realized that Jose is out of his league at this point in the competition. But we'll see!

Dizno - Thanks for the crash course on Mad Men! :thumbsup2 I will have to remember to watch it on Sunday.

Janet - I'm just like you with flying. Hate it! If I really want to go somewhere, I will fly, but I just don't think I could do a flight abroad. Last year I asked my dr. for something to relax me when I went with my daughter on an out-of-state interview, and it did help. Did anyone see The View on Monday? Whoopi had just returned from overseas somewhere, and she was so loopy from the drugs she took for fear of flying. it was crazy! They've been showing it on some of the entertainment show.

Pakey - I'm happy for you that you were able to upgrade your ticket. I bet you will be thanking your lucky stars that you did! 20 hours!

Jo - Yes, we're having a birthday party for my FIL who is turning 80 this year. You know us southerners, we love any excuse to have a party! We'll be having jambalaya and lots of goodies to go with it. I'm so happy that my DD will be off and able to come, which I was not expecting but keeping my fingers crossed. And my DS will be there, too. So with the whole family and some friends, there should be around 30 of us.

Shelly - Well, I'm not quite as late as I was last night! :o But i still have several things to do tonight before I go to bed.

Good night to all the Sweet Nothings! :goodvibes

Morning Dax! Today is my Friday as well. I haven't been able to sleep lately either. I am tossing and turning all night. I have a load on my mind but usually I don't have a problem sleeping.

It's supposed to be 99 today with a heat index of 107, I am not a fan of heat. I sure live in the wrong state.

Morning------

I slept hard enough for all of you last night.
I just woke up and I sincerely feel like a train ran me over.:confused3

Time for coffee. :surfweb: I think I might need an espresso or two.;)

Sorry you all had a rough night. It really is awful when you watch the clock and feel like it's going backwards.

Be back to catch up in a bit.

Morning everyone!

Count me in as another non-sleeper. :confused3 I'm not sure what my problem is lately but I haven't had a good nights sleep in weeks. :sad2:

Nothing planned for today. . . It's going to be another HOT one. :faint: Never thought I'd wish for cooler weather in PA! :rotfl:

Tomorrow is my DH's company picnic. The kids are excited! But I'm sure it's going to be miserably hot and humid! :scared1:

Morning Shelly!

Company picnic----- that sounds like fun! Do you have to take anything to eat???

Ah yes, the food thing.......:flower3:

Gee, I'm sorry you are all having so much trouble sleeping. I have been there, it really makes your whole life miserable when you are tired all the time. Hope it gets bettter soon. My problem now is I stay up too late. I think I'm still young & can stay up watching Letterman, but I'm no young thing anymore! :upsidedow

Today I get to make final payment for our upcoming trip!!! WOOHOO!! I'm going to try tweeking the room a bit, have a waterview booked at PO & want to try to change to king bed. Hopefully they have kings available. If not, oh well. 52 days til Disney!! :cool1:

Mornin JO! :goodvibes

Nope, it's all catered. But unfortunately it's not the best food. :sad2: The kids are thrilled though because there's free snow cones, cotton candy, and popcorn! :upsidedow Woohoo! :rotfl:

well at least you don't have to make anything and worry about it spoiling in the heat.

And the sugar induced high for the boys is soooooooooooooooo wonderful!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

That's what my kids would be excited about too!

Is it going to be at a park or something?

My DH's company picnic is usually in September and it's still so dang hot here then. They always get it catered by a bbq place and usually have a bake off contest -- I've never entered it but I might this year just for the heck of it. The one that won last year was yucky.:lmao:

Yes - at least I don't have to cook!! :goodvibes

It's at a park. They rent those big bouncy type slides, playhouses, and games. It is fun for the kids. But it's the same thing year after year. I can see my kids getting bored with it very soon. Although they will never get bored of the snowcones, cotton candy, and popcorn! We mainly go because each employee that comes gets entered into a drawing for some nice prizes, with the grand prize being an extra 5 paid vacation days!!

Ooooh you should definitely do the bake off! ::yes::

5 extra days of vacation!!!:cloud9: Sounds like a Disney trip waiting to happen!!!

:yay:

The bounce houses sound fun!

Make sure you give them the cotton candy and then send them off to the bounce house!:lmao:

yeah - I think I might do the bake off this year. We'll have to decide what I should bake at a later time.
:rotfl2:

Boy- we sure are full of nothingness.:rotfl2:

JO - You sound like my kids!! Whenever he started working there and we went to the picnic for the first time and they were drawing the winning name for the weeks paid vacation, the kids thought it was a PAID VACATION!! As in we could pick where we wanted to go and it was paid for! :rotfl: You can guess where they had picked if DH would have won!

So yes, I always say if he wins it will be an extra WDW trip. Don't know where they extra money will come from, but he will have the extra time off!! :goodvibes :upsidedow
