Well, I finally got it. I hope you guys get a laugh out a this. My grandma was obviously not happy with me... see hand on hip... this was 1971 the year it opened! I am not cool in this picture. that's me back left. this is the year of ticket books when I returned in '76, 5 years later no ticket books and EPCOT was open WOW

I would say if you and the fam want to see Fantasmic, you may have to just do it crowds and all. Since they changed to only a few shows a week it makes for a crowded park. I was just there at the end of Jan and it was nuts. We were there almost an hour before show time and still ended up siting in the second last section to the left.

Oh ya, as for TSM, over 1hr posted wait all the time. We went through the line once and it was more like 40 minutes. Very cool ride must do!
I would get there at rope dope get a FP for TSM and ride right away enjoy the park and ADR at Mama Melrose (food has been amazing every time we have been there) and use FP before you go to Fantasmic. ( Remember to get there about an hr early). I usually go in Jan so I am not sure what the crowds will be like in may. Maybe someone else can help with that.

I found this year was busier than previous Jan's maybe the 4/3 deal is working?

Very cool, we have some video from our honeymoon and noticed that main street used to have much bigger trees than it does now. Neat to see how things change but always feels the same.

Under normal circumstances, if you had seen Fantasmic before, I would say forget DHS all together on a F! day. We saw it last summer AND when we were there over New Years, so we aren't going to be near the place on a F! day when we go this summer.

BUT, in your case where DD hasn't seen it before, you may just have to suffer the crowds. Notice I said MAY because you need to think about just how much of your vacation you want to sacrifice for your DD to experience Fantasmic right now when the shows have been severely cut back, especially if you plan to go back fairly soon. If you do decide F! is a must do, I would suggest being in line at least 90 minutes ahead if you are supposed to be there when heavy crowds are expected (I don't remember your travel dates).

Great picture! I could swear that guy to the far left under the sign CLOCKS, with the light shirt and black pants is my dad. We were there in 1971 when DW opened too, ticket books and all. Wouldn't that be strange if we happened to be there the same day. If that guy who is turned around just wasn't in the way so I could see.......

And I love the Skyway pic too. I used to love riding that when I was a kid. It was a shortcut between lands, that took longer to stand in line for than the walk would have. How many times will you ever see MK with crowds that small anymore??? I think I will look to see if I can find any pictures from when we were at DW while I am at my parents house this weekend.

BTW, I think I had those same pants your brother(?) is wearing in the picture.

OK, this is funny. I had a dream last night that we were checking in for our flight to WDW and 1. I didn't pack a carry on, 2. we didn't have our magical express tags on our checked in luggage 3 we were late to the boarding counter... that's when I woke up. Boy did I breath a sigh of relief. Ill be sure to be prepared for the trip LOL

You might be okay since that is before the summer crowds really start building like they do when school is out. It is a Sunday night, and Sunday's are usually MK heavy so maybe that will help. Still, there are a lot of people who will notice the availability of F!, so keep that in mind.

Make good use of Fastpasses to help make your wait in line shorter. Every time we have been lately, TSMM is usually long wait, and late FP return times by 11:00, if there are any left at all (again, on May 17 probably okay, but also probably gone by 1:00-1:30). Get those first (and as early as possible - rope drop maybe), then get FP for your next priority as soon as you can.

And remember what I said about 90 minutes early, unless you do happen to get the F!DP at 45 days like you mentioned. Try to be in the line where it comes out from the rope. When we were there last summer, they turned the line down the sidewalk back towards the entrance of DHS. About the time they opened the rope to move forward, a lot of people came up into the street at the elbow of the 90 degree turn and cut in front of the line down the sidewalk, pushing us all further back in line. Try to be ahead of that possibility if you can.

That's funny, I have the same fears just before we travel, I must check for passports and tickets in my carry-on 50 times before we leave the house.

I guess we are supposed to be the responsible ones.
