I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Of course denied and when I call the guy starts with the card limit and then reads off a laundry list of other reasons and tells me to try again in 30 days. Won't even consider that I've cancelled two cards when I know others on r/churning and elsewhere have had success.

I'll try calling again later.

Did you get an email with a link to a letter explaining the denial? When this happened to me yesterday, I could see that the letter listed only too many cards as the reason for the denial. The email also had the phone number to call for more information. The person that answered that number was maybe the most helpful AmEx person I have encountered.

The letter won't load so I called the status line number on the page that led to the letter. (866) 314-0237. Was the one on the letter different?

DH had 800-266-1260 on his letter, for biz card though, not sure if it differs. Agent's first response was let me check if you've closed any recently. But actually he needed to close the 5th during the call. Which didn't turn out more streamlined because he needed to be transferred back and forth.

Just googled and I can't find that number but the one I called is on doc as recon for current card holders but another site has completely different numbers.

I even explained at the start that I had cancelled a card 2 weeks ago and he did not care.

Some IHG reservations via Chase link automatically and some don’t. My upcoming Chase edit stay at the IHG Times Square is in the app, but my Kimpton Marlow stay in Boston did not show up until day after I checked in (I had emailed the hotel ahead of time to make sure my rewards # was attached).
The hotel desk staff flat out told me the 6 digit confirmation number they provided me with was different than a direct booking (on purpose) and they wouldn't be providing an 8 digit number. Just weird... I am an anxious traveler and just like to see the reservation in my app to know it's still there.

First bad Breeze experience. My 6:55 pm departure tonight got moved to midnight while my mom was driving me to the airport. I’m traveling with my dog and the trip down was a disaster (she broke the Sherpa bag and the guy next to me was not amused by her). I called the vet and told them cbd chews didn’t cut it so they prescribed trazadone which I gave her before leaving my mom’s but I’m stressed it will wear off too early. Sw had a 7 pm flight connecting through bwi so I booked that with points and called Amex to change my airline for platinum (he did say wait 48 hours so not sure if it will credit) to pay for the dog and checked bag. Going forward I’m driving with her. Too stressful for both of us.

In good news my mom had cataract surgery on both eyes (reason for my trip) and her vision is now 20/20. I’m jealous!

Also still waiting on a $150 Chase credit for Friday dinner. Surprised it’s taking so long.

My large dog takes trazadone and it lasts for her for quite awhile.

Sorry about all the flight delay :(

800-266-1260

Finally used a different browser and got the letter and it does just have the too many cards and that number. I called at 4 pacific and they were already closed. Called back to the other number and got a guy that took what I said, pulled it up, verified and sent it on it's way. I'll have to wait for an answer, which I may have with the other number, but at least he did something.

Applied and approved for DH for the Delta Gold Biz. Weirdly he got a pop up on the personal gold, but no pop up on this.

Hyatt - I guess its a good thing we booked Hana Hyatt when we did sincr it sounds like Hyatt won't be easy to get good value from moving forward.

Getting ready to head to Denver for my Aunt's COL (she was almost 90) and my one-night stay at the Thompson. I'm using my Amex Business FHR credit, and they are basically paying me for staying there :) I've been dithering about this card, and I will be cancelling right when I get back to get my $895 AF refunded. I just couldn't stomach that much for the 2x. I eased the pain a little today and applied for the Amex Business Plus to get at least $50k worth of 2x. Approved, yay!

I was also approved today for the Citibank AA Executive card. I just lost my British Air Gold/Emerald One World Status that I earned on a fun tier point run a couple years ago. BA has changed the program drastically to $$ ($20k spend!) so I've decided to take a different route. I am going to try to use the AA card to buy my way to Emerald. One of the things I really liked about BA Gold was the ability to use the AA lounges on economy non-International tickets (AA elites can't do that!) so this card that comes with lounge access will help that. If I don't use it much I'll downgrade after a year, but I have a big tax bill coming that will go a long way to my status quest.

I haven't been in the AA ecosystem for a while so I'll have some studying to do. I fly Alaska/Hawaiian to Maui a lot so one world will help with that, too.

Happy to have been approved for both. Always so stressful.

Cataract surgery was life changing for me as I had worn glasses and contacts all my life. I had it almost 10 years ago.

I agree about driving with your dog. Trazadone 1 and 1/2 tablets (100mg tablets) is what I have to give my dog (about 17 lbs) before taking him in just to see the vet. He's usually back to his normal in 3 to 4 hours but it also takes a couple of hours to kick in.

I’m so glad she got it done and results were great. I think she has to take an eye test to get her license renewed this year which is what pushed her to finally get this done.

And holy heck this travel saga is no joke. The crazy dog and I are currently in club bwi (not impressed). We missed our connection last night and I made stupid choices. I should have collected my bag and Ubered to richmond or found a dog friendly hotel. But I was melting down and couldn’t figure out what to do. We learned the seats in terminal a > b and c. Minute suites was ok for an hour. We know where to find grass because she won’t use the indoor pet relief areas. And we are experts at going through security (three times so far). Keeping track of everything is driving me insane but hopefully I’ll be home a little after noon. And she’s not flying again and I’m taking a break until my fall cruise. And the trazadone (50 mg and she’s 16 pounds) didn’t do much. Luckily the next flight is super short.

I want a new SUB for unbonused spend. Here's what I'm thinking:

Citi AAdvantage Biz CC is now elevated to 75K miles with $5K spend in 5 months. Not as good as the consumer version, though. I need an AA card for free luggage in late August and can always use more AA miles. It hasn't been 48 months yet since I had the consumer version, so I'm thinking I could start the 48 month clock on this biz card and it would keep me under 5/24 for whenever Chase releases the new Hyatt card. Then consider the consumer version after Hyatt, if still elevated or If I want more miles (it seems I can always use more AA), or maybe leave it for next time it's elevated.

I think Chase isn't too inquiry sensitive, right? I've had 4 hard inquiries in the last 6 months (3 personal cards and a auto lease loan, from August to December last year). The AA Biz card would mean another recent inquiry.

I think Citi is more inquiry sensitive, but I'm reading that that's for folks with more than 6 inquiries in the last 6 months. So should be ok, right?

BA is not flying to Dubai until the 14th now (don't get me started -- Virgin is getting 2 flights a day out and they are so much smaller, but I digress); I called AA and they grabbed the only remaining seat in biz class on the 14th. Cash options are now prohibitively expensive; I could get him to LHR on points (I'd transfer to EK) on the 13th, but what would be the point in getting him there 1 day earlier. To say I don't have much confidence in BA getting a plane there by the 14th is an understatement.

I asked the AA CSR if she could try Etihad from Abu Dhabi -- they had 1 seat in economy class on Sunday, which would be awful for him (he's 6'3"), but that was blocked. She explained that Delta, United, etc. are blocking other airlines from booking seats because they are getting their own passengers out. And it doesn't seem that there are any One World partners flying to Dubai. If we wait for the Cdn government to get repatriation flights underway he'll be eligible for social security before he gets back lol.

I did strongly suggest to him that he talk to the hotel about possibly filing paperwork with the government if he 'can't afford to continue to pay for his food and hotel'. Not that he can't, but if the offer is on the table and this keeps dragging on, I sure would be asking.

This is just terrible. I feel for you and your son
