Will Disney be using this discount model more frequently in the future?

Anyone think that going forward Disney might be more likely to go with the lower discount model and an OBC included with your cruise promo verses the restricted fare rates? With my current cruise that I have booked it gives me a total discount of 26% even though the percentage off is only 20%. It lands more in favor for Disney because that extra 6% will be going directly back to them.

They could use different amounts, like 20% off with a $350 OBC or less like a 20% off and a $200 OBC, as to how many staterooms they need to fill. Regardless, part of the discount will go directly back to thier pockets.

I don’t think it works exactly as you say in DCL‘s favor. Someone really cost sensitive would use the onboard credit t cover gratuities. For 3 nights and two people that’s already 96$. So a lot of groups will pay more (longer cruise, more people in stateroom). Since that is money that would have been spent anyway, not all of the onboard credit goes really back to DCL.

I see what your saying and you made a good point. It will be interesting to see whether or not they might continue with such in the Fall.
