Here is the latest update on Rees. I copied this from the CB. Sounds like this could be it!
OK - please bear with me if I make a mistake, I was writing as fast as Denise was talking.
They are going to admit Rees, they are currently in the ER but will be admitted as soon as possible. They wanted to send them home with the idea that more Previcid was the answer. Denise stood firm and absolutely wouldn't budge. She made some phone calls and by the grace of God the GI team came down (the ones she's been waiting on!) and nearly immediately wanted him admitted. The game plan right now is:
tomorrow he is going to have endoscopic surgery where they go into his small intestine through his mouth so that they can biopsy an area of the bowel that is swollen and inflamed. I believe the word she used is "jujunitis" or something like that. If they can't successfully do an endoscopic surgery, they will wait 24 hours and then have to do a laproscopic surgery. The GI team is the team that is now in charge and will be doing the biopsys. Needless to say this is good news - at least competence has returned!
She has seen a patient advocate who listened to everything that Denise told her and promptly gave her her private cell phone number. So it sounds like things are progressing. She wanted to personally thank all of you for patiently listening to her vent and for all of your prayers. Her blackberry is about out of power and she can't answer everyone right now. So collectively lets get some positive thinking heading down to Georgia so that Rees can get better. Thanks everybody.
