Today was a great day! It was almost 60 here, so a girlfriend and her two kids asked me to join them at the zoo!

I'll post pics when I can get them smaller...

Glad to hear you had a great day! The zoo is always a nice place to go. Yes yes yes, so us some pictures.

I just wanted to share. I made this ID tags for our trip. The first one was for my kids ID. I used the second one for my camera, fanny packs, camcorder, backpack, etc., just changing the names accordingly. I printed and laminated them. Then I punched a hole in one corner and used a key ring to hang them from all my stuff. Even my kids hanged the key ring from their belt loops. Finally I am learning how to post images!!

Here's my first attempt for a t-shirt design. I couldn't take the purple bottom part off, but since I want it in a small size, I don't mind cutting it off after I print it.

Very nice!!! I think you might be able to put a white box over the purple section. I am not a designer yet, but I do a lot of things in Word and if I want something to not show, I will but a box and fill it in white.
Keep up the good work!!

Well, did I have a day yesterday!

How scary is that? Paul has diabetes and I'm always on the lookout for trouble. His medicine seems to be at a good level now - but I always watch. How is your daughter doing today?

Thanks for the reminder about our lousy weather!!!! :umbrella:

Now Amy - we could drink for you and it would be nice to have a DD - and when we were on the thrill rides it would give you the chance to rest so that you could keep up with us!!!! Plus - you certainly could keep up with us eating!!! I loved being able to people watch at WDW while I was pregnant -

I guess I didn't help - did I? :smooth:

So I'm going to stir things up a little too Kate. :stir: Amy, I don't have a real desire to go commando and I'd love sitting and having a Dole Whip with you. I don't need to go commando because I've been so many times and I know I'll be there again, so if you need to rest, I'll be right next to you.

That being said, I do understand that you are leaving for a family trip shortly and while I am going on the DDA trip, I am staying with my family! When we took our adult only time, it was weird without Matt. I got over it quickly, but it was weird. :teeth: And as far as I know, money doesn't grow on trees because if it did - I'd plant one right now!!

Before you go making them for the luggage - there was a reason I was asking! I got a tip years ago from somewhere - and I don't remember where. But our luggage tags no longer have our information out so everyone can read it. What you can read says "INFORMATION ON REVERSE SIDE" and then we printed on the reverse. Apparently in big city airports people were able to look on your tag, discover you were on vacation and go and rob your house. The more I thought about it - I figured, even if they weren't really going to go all the way to my house to take my lousy stuff, why should any Joe walking by me know all that information? If the airline needs the information for any reason, they can flip the tag over and contact me. I know this seems extreme to some, but I feel better without all my information displayed for everybody to see.

I agree also. In the military (at least all the units I've been in) we put a copy of our orders inside each bag, care-on and all. Our orders have all info to find us or our unit via phone and address.
Maybe you could put a "See inside" for contact information.

Maybe all the tags on your camcorder bags etc should be on the inside of the bag? Or am I just being an overly cautious New Yorker?

Ok, I just saw this after my last post.
So I'm a little slow.
Still a good idea :thumbsup2

Well, did I have a day yesterday! My daughter and granddaughter were supposed to leave on Friday at noon to go to Norfolk to see my son and grandson. There was an oil leak in my granddaughter's car, so they had to wait until yesterday after it was looked at to leave. My daughter stayed overnight at my house (my granddaughter lives with me) so they could get an early start. Sarah (granddaughter) tried to wake her mother at 6:00, but couldn't really wake her - just mumbling. She decided that her mother was tired and that she would let her sleep a little longer. I got up around 7:15 and went into the living room where Melanie (daughter) spent the night on the couch. She opened her eyes and pointed to an envelope of oatmeal which she had left on the coffee table and said "mmmmmaaaaaaaakkkkke thaaaaattttttt." Her words were so slow and jumbled. I asked her if she was "shocky" (diabetic). She said "yeeessssss." I gave her a small Snickers bar and told her to eat that while I fixed the oatmeal. The weird speech continued and then she said she couldn't move right. I was so scared she was having a stroke or brain damage from the low blood sugar that I called 911. Her blood sugar level was 64. They gave her some liquid glucose and she recovered completely in just a few minutes. It was very scary. I've seen her in insulin shock many times over the years, but the speech thing was a whole new development. This was the third episode of very low blood sugar in the last month. The doctor lowered her insulin dosage after the last time, but I think it needs to be lowered again. I went out to the drugstore as soon as it opened and got some of that liquid glucose to have on hand!!!Anyway, they decided to go ahead and make the trip. About 2 hours after they left, I got a call from them. Sarah's car had "died." I had given Sarah an AAA membership, as it only cost $20 more along with mine, so I told them to call AAA and call me back. As it turned out, they were on the New York Thruway, and AAA towers are not allowed on there, so they had to have two tows. To try to shorten the story, it was the alternator, it can't be fixed until Monday, and I had to travel 65 miles last night to pick them up. They aren't going to Virginia, and my grandson is very upset. He just went to live there in November, is only 20, and has been looking forward to seeing his mother and sister. Sarah was very upset, too. I told her that there was a reason why all this happened. They just weren't meant to be on that trip at that time. We may never know the reason, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. Today we're all going to look at Matthew McConaghey in "Failure to Launch." Looking at and listening to MMcC always makes me smile (hey, I may be 61, but I'm not dead - I can look and enjoy!!). Have a great day DDA!

How scary for you! I'm so glad you were there for your daughter!

I'm so sorry that they didn't get a chance to visit son/brother! That's always a bummer for everyone. But you are right, things do happen for a reason.

So, give us a review of the movie. I couldn't talk DH into seeing it last night. Too much of a chick flick, I guess. Instead we saw "The Shaggy Dog." It was so much cuter than I expected it to be! I would recommend it to you all.

I hope your daughter is feeling better today.

Good morning everyone!

I also pouted a bit yesterday, regarding this May DDA trip, but then I realized as much as I would enjoy the companionship, I wouldn't be able to drink, ride the thrill rides, or even keep up with you all (I'll be in my third trimester by then!). :p

Hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)

Amy, I'm with you. I'm pouting quite a bit about this DDA trip, too. DH just can't see how our budget will allow for a DDA trip in May, a trip to DL in June, and another trip to the World in January. I'm so sad about it. One of these days, I'm going to be able to come on all these spontaneous trips with you all! Until then, take detailed notes, and report back.

Have a great, if rainy, day. It could be worse, it's snowing here. I have to wrestle 4 kids into the car for church in the snow. Ick!

She's doing fine today, we're all getting ready to go see "Failure to Launch" and to the gym to check it out (I just joined and can bring a guest any time). Her son is "bugging" her to come down in her car, but I don't think she'll go alone, and I doubt if Sarah will attempt it again. Besides, they have to travel that 65 miles each way again tomorrow to pick up Sarah's car. Thanks for asking.

I actually think you guys are more concerned about the luggage than the kids!!!!

here is mmy thought on your tags - you just gave someone your kids name, your name and how old they are - that is all a potential kidnapper would need to convince your child they know you -

I have bracelets for my kids that just have my cell phone and their names - I figure they will give out their names pretty readily anyway and it is the first question anyone would ask them - it is the other info that might make it easy for someone to say - I know your mommy and Daddy - they are steve and Kate and you are 4 - they told me to come get you for them - my kids would fall for it hook, line and sinker!! I think the best info is their name and a cell phone number

Oooooo. I guess I figured the ID tags would be inside the kids pocket and the kids would be instructed only be taken out if they are lost and a CM asks you who your mommy is.

I always showed my DD’s who the “safety” people are in the park. Mind you Ellie has a fascination with police officers right now so I always point out the security people to her. What I did for our trip last Sept was buy those paper bands (forgot the name of them) they use at clubs and play places. I put our Cell numbers on them, but came to find out that our cells didn’t work well during that trip. (side note… DH bought new phones when we got home).

I have heard of people putting tags on a child’s shoe also.

This makes me think of what I should do for our next trip.

I'll try to give you an unbiased review of the film. However, since I enjoy just looking at and listening to Matthew McConaghey, it will be difficult!! I like Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Bates, too, so it should be a very entertaining film.

I have always used a luggage tag for Ramiro. :thumbsup2
I put my cell # only.
It has always been hooked on his belt loop.
Never had to use it.
Sure makes us feel better knowing if lost he can find me quick.
When he was little.
I used a strap with hooks on both ends.
We were attached to each other.
Belt loop to belt loop.
He always stayed with me.
Just afraid in crowds of getting separted.
We started traveling when he was 3.
Have been many times to DL WDW & DLP.
Now we need to try getting to DLT & DLHK.

I ordered those silcone bracelets (like Lance Armstrong wears) which I had my cell phone engraved into it. The kids didn't mind wearing them since there are "in" I think I spent $15. I got them from: www.customsiliconebracelets.com

Giving your DGD some pixiedust: hope she is doing better.
Good luck with the car.
