Before you go making them for the luggage - there was a reason I was asking! I got a tip years ago from somewhere - and I don't remember where. But our luggage tags no longer have our information out so everyone can read it. What you can read says "INFORMATION ON REVERSE SIDE" and then we printed on the reverse. Apparently in big city airports people were able to look on your tag, discover you were on vacation and go and rob your house. The more I thought about it - I figured, even if they weren't really going to go all the way to my house to take my lousy stuff, why should any Joe walking by me know all that information? If the airline needs the information for any reason, they can flip the tag over and contact me. I know this seems extreme to some, but I feel better without all my information displayed for everybody to see.

Never thought about it!!

Maybe all the tags on your camcorder bags etc should be on the inside of the bag? Or am I just being an overly cautious New Yorker?

DDA, who has been the last week of October? We're thinking of changing our dates to Oct 28-Nov 4 at the Contemporary (Tower Magic Kingdom View). The kids would miss a week of Kindergarten, but I'm not that worried about it. The problem with the December dates is that their school and the school where I teach are in different counties. They have different vacation dates (the kids get out a week before I would). I'm not allowed to miss the last days before the holiday starts, and the dates we picked I would.

So, would you chance making my boss angry and keep the December trip (kids would miss NO SCHOOL)? Or would you go in Oct/Nov, not have a conflict with work, but the kids miss 5 DAYS OF SCHOOL. And, yes, our school district definitely does NOT approve of family vacations during school time. BTW, the price is only $100 different, so that is not a factor.

Oh, the dilemma!

What happened to switching jobs? Weren't you thinking of teaching more classes at the hospital? If you switch it might eliminate the problem. Otherwise I would talk to your boss now and explain the problem and see if they will make an exception. Personally I don't think that missing 5 days of K is a big deal, but if the school takes notice it could be a problem in the future.

I always use my office address and phone number on luggage tags.

I actually think you guys are more concerned about the luggage than the kids!!!!

here is mmy thought on your tags - you just gave someone your kids name, your name and how old they are - that is all a potential kidnapper would need to convince your child they know you -

I have bracelets for my kids that just have my cell phone and their names - I figure they will give out their names pretty readily anyway and it is the first question anyone would ask them - it is the other info that might make it easy for someone to say - I know your mommy and Daddy - they are steve and Kate and you are 4 - they told me to come get you for them - my kids would fall for it hook, line and sinker!! I think the best info is their name and a cell phone number

Well, did I have a day yesterday! My daughter and granddaughter were supposed to leave on Friday at noon to go to Norfolk to see my son and grandson. There was an oil leak in my granddaughter's car, so they had to wait until yesterday after it was looked at to leave. My daughter stayed overnight at my house (my granddaughter lives with me) so they could get an early start. Sarah (granddaughter) tried to wake her mother at 6:00, but couldn't really wake her - just mumbling. She decided that her mother was tired and that she would let her sleep a little longer. I got up around 7:15 and went into the living room where Melanie (daughter) spent the night on the couch. She opened her eyes and pointed to an envelope of oatmeal which she had left on the coffee table and said "mmmmmaaaaaaaakkkkke thaaaaattttttt." Her words were so slow and jumbled. I asked her if she was "shocky" (diabetic). She said "yeeessssss." I gave her a small Snickers bar and told her to eat that while I fixed the oatmeal. The weird speech continued and then she said she couldn't move right. I was so scared she was having a stroke or brain damage from the low blood sugar that I called 911. Her blood sugar level was 64. They gave her some liquid glucose and she recovered completely in just a few minutes. It was very scary. I've seen her in insulin shock many times over the years, but the speech thing was a whole new development. This was the third episode of very low blood sugar in the last month. The doctor lowered her insulin dosage after the last time, but I think it needs to be lowered again. I went out to the drugstore as soon as it opened and got some of that liquid glucose to have on hand!!!Anyway, they decided to go ahead and make the trip. About 2 hours after they left, I got a call from them. Sarah's car had "died." I had given Sarah an AAA membership, as it only cost $20 more along with mine, so I told them to call AAA and call me back. As it turned out, they were on the New York Thruway, and AAA towers are not allowed on there, so they had to have two tows. To try to shorten the story, it was the alternator, it can't be fixed until Monday, and I had to travel 65 miles last night to pick them up. They aren't going to Virginia, and my grandson is very upset. He just went to live there in November, is only 20, and has been looking forward to seeing his mother and sister. Sarah was very upset, too. I told her that there was a reason why all this happened. They just weren't meant to be on that trip at that time. We may never know the reason, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. Today we're all going to look at Matthew McConaghey in "Failure to Launch." Looking at and listening to MMcC always makes me smile (hey, I may be 61, but I'm not dead - I can look and enjoy!!). Have a great day DDA!

Kate - you are absolutely right! Not having any young kids any more, that one sort of slipped right past me (could also have had something to do with my day yesterday affecting my brain).

OMG - that is SO scary!!!!!! It is a good thing you recognized what was going on and were able to help her!!!

I am glad everything worked out! Although it was obviously a very stressful day!!

Okay DDA - here are some trip details I wanted to share with you all

The plan has actually changed to fly in on the 18th and out on the 21st - so Tammi and I have been doing some research

if no one else joins us Tammi and I will probably stay at the pop (Marti will be staying with Hunka and Matt) - but we have some others interested and I thought if the following information tempts any of you....

We got a good deal on a rental car or minivan - and if enough people are interested Tammi and I think it would be fun to stay at a villa close to WDW!!!

here is the breakdown of the cost to stay by the number of people coming - this includes your lodging and a car rental that we would share - this is a rough estimate based on decisions that would be made once we have firm numbers - before we make the reservation - we would need firm commitments - the sooner the better!!!!!

6 people - $86
5 people - $103
4 people - $129
3 people - $162

or we could stay at the pop and for every room it is $124 pp for the three nights - if we have odd numbers we would have to think about sharing a bed - and then just figure $25 for the rental car - putting us around $150 pp to stay at the pop

Good morning everyone!

It's been raining for days in Cincinnati and there's no end in sight (well, they claim it'll clear by Tuesday, but until the rain stops, I don't trust those predictions!). I was so impressed that Alyssa slept through the loud thunder at 5 a.m. Matthew, on the other hand, was doing flips! :goodvibes

And, by the way, I cursed myself a few weeks ago! When Kate shared the story about Nick and his pillow, I said Alyssa didn't have any attachments. Well, sporadically this week, she's asked to sleep (naptime and bedtime) with her Bitty Baby Doll (only called baby at this point) and then yesterday, not only did she ask for "baby," but she also wanted to sleep with one of her favorite books! I took a picture when I went in to wake her up at naptime...I'll get Kevin to post it later. I guess we'll be taking both baby and the book with us to WDW!

I also pouted a bit yesterday, regarding this May DDA trip, but then I realized as much as I would enjoy the companionship, I wouldn't be able to drink, ride the thrill rides, or even keep up with you all (I'll be in my third trimester by then!). :p

Hope everyone has a great day!
Amy :)

Thanks for the reminder about our lousy weather!!!! :umbrella:

Now Amy - we could drink for you and it would be nice to have a DD - and when we were on the thrill rides it would give you the chance to rest so that you could keep up with us!!!! Plus - you certainly could keep up with us eating!!! I loved being able to people watch at WDW while I was pregnant -

I guess I didn't help - did I? :smooth:

We went to see the Harlem Globetrotters last night and the boys loved it. They were even allowed to go down on the court and get their basketballs autographed.

 Only 20 days until we fly to Miami

I am getting very excited. Talk to ya'll later.

Lynn

Lynn, it must have been so much fun at the Globetrotters, I have always wanted to see them. I remember seeing clips of them on TV as a kid and WOW they were the coolest.

Hope you are ready to pack for Miami, have a great trip.

Another busy day here.
Painting Ramiro room today.
I'm already tried from taking all the stuff out last night.
The stars on the ceiling.
Oh my neck. :guilty:

OK
Prime the entire room.
Paint the ceiling white.
Paint the walls don't know the color name (soft yellow orange).
Change the ceiling fan light.
Put all the furniture back.

Maybe I'll call in sick Moday.
My neck & back already ache. :rotfl2:

Jo, I just have one question for you. Do you ever take a break? You always seem to be so busy. Wow!
