Thanks Elin, I had a wonderful time :woohoo: It was nice going without the kids(I did miss them though!). We stayed at AKL on our last night & were upgraded to Savana view & I was in awe! This is a beautiful resort & being able to sit on the balcony & watch the animals, just breath taking. Hope your mother is doing better pixiedust:

Welcome back, Janet. :welcome:
Did you have an amazing time!?

We are finally home!! and it was a LONG trip!!!!

we left at 6:30 am Thursday morning and headed to Pinehurst, NC - my kids were  in the car and we were able to arrive at our hotel around 4:30.

We walked around a bit and then went to the managers reception and ordered pizza for dinner. My aunt and two of her kids were there along with my sister (Not Nancy) and my parents best friends. My dad really did not want them to come but I think it was really good for him to have someone to drink and chat with!!!!

The funeral was Friday morning. It started with a private viewing of my grandmother at the funeral home. and then we headed to the church for a closed casket visitation - and then we had a funeral mass

The best moment of the service for me was at the very beginning - my grandfather was a train engineer in new york and my grandmother lived across from a train track as we were grwoing up - we used to go collect the spikes that had come loose and put pennies on the track so we could have flat pennies - so trains have always reminded me of both of my grandparents

so as the service began a train passed by the church - the track went right by the church and blew its whistle - and I couldn't help to smile and know that grandma and grandpa were on their way in the train!!!

Nancy and I are quite sure the grandma rolled over in her coffin as the 9 Great grandchildren were a little loud during the service - but by the looks the priest sent our way each one of them let out a little squeal - we are sure that he had channeled her!!!!!! But as he told my aunt very matter of factly that there were to be no other reflections than the two planned when she invited others up to the alter - we knew she had possessed him!!!! :rotfl:

We then had a lunch at the country club where we had had her 70th birthday party - 20 years ago next month - it was very nice.

The we headed over to pinehurt country club - b.c the 2005 US open merchandise was 65% off and my dad, BIL and Nephew (Nancy's DH and DS) had been to the open this year so they wanted to go check it out

as you walk down the halls of pinehurst - they have pictures of tournaments and what they call their hall of fame - as Brian walked by the pictures of this year's tournament - he said - Look PAPA - there I am!!!! there was a picture of the final hole of the tournament and Brian had found his dad and him in the picture - he and my dad were so excited - my dad later told Brian that had made his day - it was nice that had happened and he could have a great memory from that day!!

then 20 of us drove 1 1/2 hours to Nancy's- she was a very gracious host - that night 17 people spent the night at her house!!!!

The next morning we went to Brian's Basketball game - they won and he had a great game!!! Nick was so cute cheering - go Bian - and cheering when Brian would score!!!

then we went back to Nancy's and the real fun began - my dad proceeded to start throwing up - followed by Nick - then we went out to dinner leaving the sick ones at home and Julia got sick at the restaurant - so we left to come home - this morning Nancy's DH and two of her kids are also sick - I guess we picked something up somewhere

we drove the 9 1/2 hours home - thankfully Dad was better and J&N each only got sick once!!!

I am exhausted and hopefully won't get the flu!!!!!

Kate - I'm glad you made it home safely and that you will have wonderful memories of saying goodbye to your grandmother. The train story is very touching. It's the little things like that that really enforce our faith.

Some sort of stomach thing is going around here. A few kids in Nicholas' school have had it, as well as our neighbor. Mostly a 24hr thing. I hope you all pull through it.

Happy Birthday Glynis!!

Happy Birthday Marti!

Feel Better Brenda!

Welcome back Kate!

Congrats on your "stool" Denise!!!

Have a good night all!

PS: Can't get the "more" link on the smilies to open up :badpc:

Welcome back, Kate. I am glad that you all got there and back safely. Trains were big in the lives of my grandfathers too so I know just how special that moment was for you. I hope that the illness leaves the family as quickly as it came.

Kate and Nancy here is some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: so that you families can get to feeling better again. Glad your family made it home safe Kate.

Hi Bev,

Yes I just spoke to her. I had sent her a tshirt THANKS DENISE!!, the priceless one that Denise created. Denise had made a few changes for me. Well she got it on Friday. She called and thanked me, said it was cute.

I was a little bummed because she didn't sound really excited. So I called her today and told her that Mousefest days were up and we would probably miss it, but did she want French or Canadian food for the Candlelight Processional. And she says wait a minute... And she goes and gets the shirt. And she reads it. And then she says "You're taking me to Disney World!!!" :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Duh! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I emailed my nephew and he is going to buy her the 7 day park hopper and give it to her when she goes out to see him next week. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

We have the dining plan, so the CP and Fantasmic packages are done. So I just have to get the MVMCP tickets. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I am so excited. :hippie: :hippie: :rainbow:

Glad she liked it and FINALLY figured out the good news!

Welcome back! Glad you made it safely. Thanks so much for sharing your stories.... it sounds like you had a lot of very wonderful moments to cherish in the midst of the funeral events. I hope your family gets/stays healthy and is back in the swing of things in no time! :goodvibes

glad that all worked out and you got the one you wanted, did it get rained out(hope not), our baseball tryouts did so we will try again tomorrow but probably have the same results.

Davis must be thrilled

The carnival was in the gym of the church, and they had the bouncy things under the portico, so it was covered. Davis is excited! This weather is awful.

Here's a new design! I made it too small in photobucket, but don't have time to change it yet. I'll work on getting the larger version up some time

Hey - not much further over that hill!!! And they all started it a while back, so who was I to say it wasn't ???? Don't you have other queenly duties to attend to rather than remember how far down the hill I've gone? :teeth:

Well, I swear you were turning 29...:teeth:

Hey Marti - Thanks for asking!

We actually talked about it on Saturday (too tired on Friday). And...

Would you believe it, we're making plans to go on a whirlwind trip next weekend to do the tour, and (hopefully) begin the paperwork process??!! :Pinkbounc

We looked at every aspect of it, and DH agrees that this is a pretty good deal. He still wants to see more info. about trading out of DVC, and hopefully that lovely little FedEx package will arrive on Monday (we were hoping today, but no dice). We looked at pictures, point charts, and spreadsheets until our minds were spinning!

So, with 2 free SWA tickets just sitting in my account waiting to be used and AP call-in rates back in play, we're off next Friday night!

Congrats!

He's pretty easy on the eyes too... :teeth:
