Suggestions for magic bands to stay on wrist?

We use a small old fashioned rubber band (like the one you get on produce). It stays in place better than a hair tie and you can get a large pack of them for next to nothing.

Was it too big or did it unhook? If it's too big, there is a piece that can be removed to make it smaller. If it unhooked, there are little sliders that we've used to cover the end of the band that might get caught on something and pull it apart.
For some people, it would be too small if the outer band is removed, but too big if the outer band is left in place. You can leave the outer band in place and use scissors to cut off part of the outer band (on the non-bumpy end).

If you are at Disney, you want to try sliders, and you did not order them before your trip, some of the gift shops sell them.

With all the magic bands we have, we have a lot dating back to the ones with the very first trial, we have never had this issue. Are these magic bands somewhat new? Are they made different?

For us, it started with our bands in 2022. No issues prior to that. It's not every band, just some of them.

For me? YES

I have over 20 magic bands, from the original narrow MB to the decorated puck style MB2s and everything in between. Never once lost one! The majority were free. A few were $10 fancier upgrades.

Lost my ‘discounted’ to $35 MB+ within first hour of use. DH paid $45 to replace with same LE design. Within an hour that one also fell off. I recovered it but stopped using before it was also permanently lost. DH got me another I wasn’t as attached to try. It too had a propensity to fall off, but ended up exposing another deal breaker - very uncomfortable.

The old MBs I could wear 24/7 all week and barely notice. My wrist is small, and to get the MB+ that size also squashes it into the top of wrist = sweaty indents quickly forming. The top 2 corners stick out wider than my wrist. Clunky, uncomfortable, prone to losing, not for me. Locking the band would not solve my other problems.

DH loves his MB+!

In fact he wears one on each wrist lol. I live vicariously watching his light up, interact with statues, play games, etc. I use my old cute and comfy MB2s. It opens my room, charges back to our room, works on the park tapstyles, etc. Can swim, shower, sleep and even boogie on the dance floor without noticing it on my wrist or fearing loss.

Do you or anyone know if Disney is selling an item to help with this issue?

I think someone said they sell something like the bit belts in some of the gift shops. I haven't seen them personally, but I never looked since we had our own.

Try using 2 sliders if you still have a problem. We often visit water parks, where the sliders are pretty much a necessity if you don't want to lose a band in the wave pools.

FWIW, my DH is left-handed, and he tends to put the band on in such a way that he can't then move the slider over the spot where the band fastens; if you only have it on one thickness of the band it won't do a darned thing, and in fact probably makes it more likely to come open. I find that if the slider is kept on the side of the band with the holes, it is easier to then slide it over the part with the pins; do it the other way around and you are much more likely to miss getting both parts of the band securely into the slider.

WDW has at times offered freebie Annual Passholder sliders; but they don't always have them at Guest Services. I really like having those, because they always alert store clerks and waiters to remind us to use our discounts.

Also, if you really are driven nuts by losing MBs, you can take the RFID "puck" out of the center and get a lobster-claw type clip-on rubber fob holder to put it in. Some people clip the fobs onto belt loops or watch chains, to backpack straps, or to lanyards worn around the neck. It's also kind of popular with local AP holders to put the fob on their key ring; they always need their keys because they drive to the parks, and that way they always have the fob if they decide on a spur-of-the-moment visit.

If I were at the parks without a slider, I'd ask a clerk for a rubber band and loop it multiple times around the pin-end of the strap so that I could use it as a makeshift slider.
