Anne Marie,
Thank you so much. I do not feel like I have done anything special. I just did what I know my brother would have wanted me to do for his child. We love him dearly.

Don't know if this was answered yet, but they were at SSR.

I'm kinda freakin out here. I think I hear mice in my bedroom walls. This isn't the first time, but I had dismissed it as the wind blowing something outside. Today I heard a lot of noise and looked outside to see no wind. Chris will be setting traps in the attic, garage, basement and camper. I may have one or two in my bedroom too. I HATE MICE. We have only had them once since we built, but it has been a bad year for them around here and all the neighbors have had them. My parents put thir camper down here for the winter and my Mom went in her's the other day and found a dead one floating in the antifreeze in the toilet

Now that I've vented I'll go back to getting something done.

Deb
Ew, Deb, I hope you get this taken care of quickly. I've never had a problem with them, so I don't have any advice.

Strawberry Banana, and the recipe for the caramelized bacon as well! Please.

Ok, Tammi! Here they are. Sorry it took me so long to get to it today. Life happened.

Strawberry Banana Overnight French Toast

5 eggs, beaten
3/4 C. milk
1 Tbs. vanilla
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 loaf French bread, cut into 8 1 inch slices
1 package (16 oz.) frozen whole strawberries
4 ripe bananas, sliced
1 cup sugar
Cinnamon sugar

Mix eggs, milk, vanilla and baking powder. Pour over bread to soak; turn to coat well. Cover. Refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix frozen strawberries, bananas and sugar in a 13 X 9 baking dish. Top with soaked bread slices. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Caramelized Bacon Twists

1 pound sliced bacon
1/2 C. brown sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Cut each bacon strip in half widthwise. Combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Dip bacon strips in sugar mixture; twist. Place on foil-lined jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until crips. Serve; or cool and freeze in an airtight container for up to one month. To use frozen bacon: Bake at 350 degrees for 6-8 minutes or until heated through.

Let me know what you think of them.

Mmmmmm, toffee apple sounds good! What is carmelized bacon? I think I just need to come to your house Christmas morning lol

Here's the Toffee Apple French Toast recipe. I posted the bacon recipe in a reply to Tammi. Let me know if you didn't see it and I'll PM it to you.

Toffee Apple French Toast

8 C. cubed French bread
2 medium tart apples, peeled and chopped
1 pkg. (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
3/4 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. sugar
1 3/4 C. milk, divided
2 tsp. vanilla, divided
1/2 C. English toffee bits
5 eggs

Place half the bread cubes in a greased 13 X 9 baking dish; top with apples. In a mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugars, 1/4 C. milk and 1 tsp. vanilla until smooth; stir in toffee bits. Spread over apples. Top with remaining bread cubes. In another mixing bowl, beat the eggs and remaining milk and vanilla; pour over bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.

This is so delicious! Enjoy it!

Okay this morning it is around 18-20 degrees. DS18 told me his heater in his car does not work.

My dryer want dry my clothes and don't have money to fix it right now.

I am behind in my work. BUT I HAVE WORK and that is a good thing.

We don't have the money to buy a christmas tree and the one we had broke.

It sure is a funny thing this MONEY business kind of like men You can't live with it and you can't live without it. :rotfl2:

and the biggest thing:

DS6 who we have custody of asked me who his real dad is. When he was 4 months old his dad, my brother, was killed in a car accident. I started babysitting him while his mom worked afer that. Finally things in her life got so out of hand (men, drugs, etc) that I asked her for custody and she let me have him. She comes to see him about every 2-6 weeks. Never a set time just whenever she remembers she has a child. What gets me is he ADORES her.

Well he has been saying things lately about me not being his real mom. (He calls me mom and his real mom by her first name.) We have both explained to him that she had some things going on in her life and it was best for him to live with me and he seemed okay with that. BUT now he wants to know who his real dad it.

We did not intentionally not tell him about my brother but he started calling DH dad and we just never really knew how to deal with it so we thought when he got old enough we would sit him down and explain it. By old enough I was thinking in his teens. NOT.

He asked me on the way to school if his real moms latest man friend was his real dad since she was his real mom. SO TONIGHT we will have a talk with him. I sure hope he can understand this and deal with it okay. My heart just breaks for him because his real mom, although she loves him, she does not want the responsibility and it is already hurting him that she gave him away.

If you all have any advise on how to handle this just post away.

Well that is my update. Hope everyone has a great week.

No advice here. Just lots of :grouphug: and :wizard: . Wish I could be there in person to help you, but I'm here if you need me.

Boy do I know how you feel!!! We have had mice here this winter already! We've set out traps, and killed a couple. Luckily I haven't heard or seen any in the last week, so I hope the word is out that we are only friends with 2 mice and they currently reside in the Magic Kingdom!

Thank you Glynis, this sounds delicious! Silly question, do you put syrup on this?

I have to work Christmas, so this would be perfect to make. Then I can have a nice breakfast with my family before leaving.

You can use syrup with it, however, it kind of makes it's own syrup. I dust it with powdered sugar before cutting into it, and then have syrup on the table for those who want it. It's yummy!

Thank you!
