The Connors

I'm enjoying the show so far. It's not on my recording cue, but I do get it on demand. I'm catching up as we speak. So far it's enjoyable, but no, it's not great. There are few Great comedies on tv at any point in time, so whatever. I'm ok with average. I am feeling sad for Becky, to be young and have a drinking problem. I've seen enough of it in real life, so that did hit me.
I really hope they get a chance to work out all the kinks because I believe the cast has the ability to put on an excellent comedy show. I look forward to it happening, if they are given the time to make it happen.

Becky is in her early forties. Not saying not to feel sorry for the character, but drinking problems can start at any age.

Is anyone watching the new season?

I don't care for the Darlene sleeping with two guys storyline. I don't like David's character now.

I felt so bad for Mark in the second episode. When they had to meet with the principal and the other little boy said Mark kissed him and wouldn't admit that they kissed each other. Did anyone notice his grandmother was played by the same actress who played snooty neighbor, Kathy Bowman, in the original series?!?

I liked Dan Ackroyd's cameo this week!

I like Katey Sagal (Louise). But I don't like that Dan's going to start dating.

I'm glad little Bev is home and healthy!

Awe, that's who it was. I knew she looked very familiar but I couldn't place her.

No! I knew she looked familiar! I will watch it again later. I knew she looked familiar. It would make sense Kathy would have a grandson Mark's age - but why in the world would she move back to Lanford??? She hated it!

Yes, absolutely Darlene shouldn't be sleeping with two men. Who do you think she's going to choose? Because she does make a decision next week. I wonder if it's neither?

I'm okay with Dan dating. It's been about a year since Roseanne died.

I wonder what happened to Geena? I mean, the actress is on The Unicorn (which I watch but can't really get into), but so far there's no explanation about the character. Oh, and Dan's line about Jackie having been through a lot at least hints at something devastating having happened to Andy. Or else he just means her having to live with Bev.

Um, on yeah, I'm still watching :D

I didn't catch the neighbour recast!

I still don't like how they play Becky being so dumb. She wasn't portrayed that way in the first series.
And naming the baby Bev? That I think is a stretch as they never seemed close to their grandmother. Maybe Rosie after their mother.

I don't think she was supposed to be Kathy Bowman, just the same actress.

I think it would be a good idea for her to choose neither. David seems like such a loser. Didn't he abandon them for like, 9 years?? And, although I like Ben, in the long run, sleeping with your boss is probably a bad idea.

Gina is in the military. Maybe she's been deployed again. They might have mentioned that last season, but I can't remember.

I do find it so irritating that they've never mentioned Andy!

I'm still watching. I didn't catch that was Kathy Bowman or at least the same actress. I wonder if she will be on more and they'll bring up the fact she was their long lost neighbor.

I like Katey Segal so I hope she ends up being Dan's girlfriend.

I agree about Andy, not sure why he has not been brought up. He would be a grown man at this point, no need to have him on the show, but they could just make up something about him. Like he moved to LA or something just to explain his absence.

I have watched the new season...I am gonna be frank, I am not a fan without Rosanne in it. She made that show, there is some great stars in it, just not the same!

Never watched the original show and didn't care much for Roseanne even before the whole mess that got her booted from the show. Just not into her type of comedy. It seems silly for the network to refer to it as a 'new' show when it is simply the old Roseanne show without Roseanne.....LOL. Most sitcoms with families tend to lose their way as the children get older and outgrow the part for which they were originally cast.

Haven't watched this season. Honestly I just don't watch much network TV these days. But I do agree that there needs to be some random hints at missing characters form time to time. Whether it be updates/phone call from Jerry or Andy, hints at what happened to Fred. That kind of thing.

As for Darlene and which guy to chose, if David hadn't been portrayed as a dead beat dad who left them I'd be inclined for them to return as a couple. Instead I think it's time to move on. They destroyed the relationship.

I tend to agree. Honestly, I don't see it lasting much longer. I think it's hanging on due to the attachment so many have to the family (that's the main reason I'm still watching it,) but I'm not sure how long it'll last. I almost feel like their topics are too heavy for a comedy as well. I'm all for bringing real life issues to tv, but I don't know I just feel like some of my favorite episodes in comedies are ones that were really about nothing and I just feel like almost every episode has more of a serious topic, then just a funny comedy.

I agree with you Brockash. I think if Rosanne was there she could get away with some of the story lines that has been going on.
She has the way of putting a silly/funny spin to them, but with the cast now, who is brilliant, by the way..is a little beyond their scope.
I have no problem with the story lines, I guess just the way they are delivered.

While true, most shows like this either end themselves or get cancelled. The Conners came back 25 years later, with almost all characters having aged accurately.

I'm guessing you don't watch Black*ish?

At times I feel like the show is trying to get a personal point across, which some is fine...but now your crossing the line between a comedy and a show about the issues. I watch because it was always that dirty funny humor.

I think they always talked about serious issues but did it in a funny way. I agree now they seem to tackle issues more seriously, so does feel like less of a comedy.

I used to here and there but never really got into it. They kinda lost me when the parents separated and stuff... I like drama, but not so much in a comedy.

I saw some of the last episode. I had wanted to see Dan Ackroyd.
OMG, not only was it a bit more serious, but some really negativity and darkness.
We were like, "THIS is supposed to be entertainment." :sad2:
We were never huge fans, but at least with Rosanne, you enjoyed it and laughed!!!!
Where is that loud raucus laugh of hers!!!

I stopped watching near the end of last season. Not watching at all this season. Just lost interest I guess.
