The Connors

I thought the same thing, "who is Gina?" I think it's DJ's wife.

Yes. She is the African American woman who is married to DJ. In the last episode she had some snarky comments to David about “replacing” Darlene with Blue. She comes across as someone who speaks her mind and tolerates zero nonsense.

Did anyone watch the Halloween episode? It was okay. I loved Becky's costume! I watch all the Roseanne Halloween episodes (except S9) every year and they are my favorite!

I watched. It was pretty good, but it is just kind of strange to me how quickly they all moved on. I understand the show does not want to dwell on Roseanne's death, that would be too gloomy and dreary for a comedy, but they seem very "meh" about loosing her. I'm not crazy about the actress who play's Becky. I love John Goodman though and I also like Darlene, although I know many are not crazy about that character.

I agree! She and Dan were supposed to be married for 45 years! I don't think he would be okay yet!

I wasn’t a fan of the Halloween episode at all. Trying to be controversial about being controversial just got old. Also, Jackie is lost and they are really turning her into basically nothing .... she’s just there. Becky’s awful now and DJ might as well not even be there. I like Darlene but if they are gearing her up to be Roseanne’s replacement it’s not going to work. Darlene’s humor in the original show bounced off of Roseanne’s one liners.

I had some hope for the series without Roseanne after last weeks episode but I think that’s because David came back . Darlene does well when he’s in the picture - it’s familiar and like old times.

I doubt I’ll make it appoint to watch any more episodes.

Loved the Halloween episode, thought it was really good.

They do mention Roseanne in every episode. As a comedy show would you want them to all be crying in each episode? I don’t.

I agree. Plus I don't find it unbelievable. I lost my mother at a fairly young age. Yes we all missed her dearly, but we still went on with our every day lives.

People that have been married 45 years don’t just get over it. There’s generally a long period of mourning. I could see the kids moving on.

No one said that. Who says he's over it? Just because we don't see him crying? Who knows what he's doing when he's alone.

And yes this is a sitcom so it's a moot point. They're not going to have everyone sitting around sad during every episode.

Which is why I never like watching sitcoms after they kill off a major character. They aren't going to sit around moping, and that in itself is going to seem "off" to me.

Wasn't even phased that there was no 'mourning' in this episode. The show is known for it's Halloween episodes. They characters and show need to find footing without her. I'm glad to see that they are heading in that direction.

And Roseanne, the actress, had to leave the show on her own behavior. It wasn't like an unexpected natural death of the actress.

I would guess that there will be references to her in several episodes and there maybe times when the have characters struggle with her loss. Grief can rear it's head in many ways.

This was my least favorite episode so far, although, I should admit that I am not a huge fan of Halloween in general (I like cute Halloween, nothing gory or gross). I thought a bunch of my usual shows were annoying—anyone see Splitting Up Together or The Resident this week? Creepy and weird. Actually The Connors was less creepy and less weird than either of those shows. Just my opinion of course.

Since the show will most likely be cancelled soon I think this whole thread is a moot point.

And apparently there are others who don't share your opinion. Thanks for sharing.

It's hard to tell at this point. I hope it isn't cancelled, but would not be shocked if it was. I am going to stick with it because I just love John Goodman. I also love Jackie. I think she is very funny and hope they showcase her more. I think they need a little time to find their footing now that Roseanne is gone and she was such a huge part of the show with lot's of characters bouncing off her comedy. I just hope the network gives them a chance to prove themselves. I would also love it if David came back.

I'm enjoying the show so far. It's not on my recording cue, but I do get it on demand. I'm catching up as we speak. So far it's enjoyable, but no, it's not great. There are few Great comedies on tv at any point in time, so whatever. I'm ok with average. I am feeling sad for Becky, to be young and have a drinking problem. I've seen enough of it in real life, so that did hit me.
