The Christmas 2006 Tree Swap Now Closed!

Hey Mouseketeers! We would like to be added to the list. We will be at the BC 12/16-12/23!

TTFN

I think I would like to be added too. I want to investigate trees over the weekend if that is okay before I commit to bringing one down. I will be at AKL Dec 7th to the 13th. I also have to check with the airlines how many bags we get to bring these days. I am flying on American if anyone knows. I have not flown in years!

Just copied this from the American Airlines website..... :thumbsup2
Dimensions, Weight and Number of Pieces

For flights wholly within the United States and between the United States and Canada
The maximum amount of baggage each ticketed passenger is allowed free of charge is:
2 pieces checked and one carry-on
Please note that one carry-on personal item (see "Carry-on Allowance") does not count toward the free bag allowance.

The size limitation of your luggage is calculated by adding the total outside dimensions of each bag, that is, length + width + height.
Two checked bags at 62 in/157 cm each

One carry-on bag at 45 in/114 cm
The maximum weight per checked bag is 50 lbs/23 kgs.
The maximum weight per carry-on bag is 40 lbs/18 kgs.

We'll be at OKW from December 17 - 23.

We did this last year and it was great!

Yep, I know...we got our tree from you last year (AND the wonderful gingerbread house kit!) You're the first from OKW to join, but maybe we can get someone from another resort to do the switch with you.

We would like to participate also. I have to talk this over with my son though. We bought tree decorations and a little tree today for the trip (target has really cute ones for 12.99 prelit and in a cute pot) and to pass on but now my son is saying he wants to bring it home for his bedroom. He is 4 so I am going to have to try to explain the whole idea behind this. So count us in for now. I will have to get back to you on this. What is the dead line for this?

I will be staying at the POLY from the 8-16th...I would love to work something out if we can! We will have a car so we can drop it off at another resort. However I saw someone on the list that was arriving at the POLY on Dec. 16th so I could probably leave it at the front desk I would think. Also I saw someone was leaving from the POLY on the 10th...maybe we could work something out that morning when they leave or the night before on the 9th? I do not need the tree the whole time but a couple of nights would be nice :) I may be able to have a tree delivered....if my assistance is need on this let me know :)

Hi Mindy - I joined this thread before realizing that your were the OP. How are you doing?

Yes, we'll try to hook up with someone else who'll be leaving around our arrival time and pick up the tree. I'll wait a little while to see who else joins up.

Thanks for doing this!

HI,
My family and I will be at all star movies beginning 12/9-12/17 and would love to participate in a swap if that date is open. Please let me know and thanks so much.

Hi, please count us in if we fit into the schedule! We'll be arriving at POP 12/2 through 12/9. Looks like you might need someone for a few of those days.

Getting close now, looks like it may come together. If anyone sees you're the first in arriving at a resort, can you let me know if you can provide the tree? If you already are down for one, thanks!

If we don't find someone to get a tree from, we'll be happy to buy one and pass it along to someone who will be staying after we leave on the 23rd.

I feel that cdndislvr had a great idea with gathering airline information for our trips. I know many here on the DIS fly Southwest so I though I would copy their baggage policy. This is right from their site.

Southwest Airlines Baggage Information
Checked and Carryon Baggage

Checked BaggageScreening and Identification: Checked baggage will be screened and is subject to physical inspection as mandated by the TSA. Customers may be required to present identification. Regulations require name identification on the outside. We recommend placing identification on the inside of baggage, too. Name labels are available at Southwest Airlines ticket counters. Once you've checked your luggage, make sure you receive a separate claim check for each piece of baggage you've checked. Check to make sure that the city shown on the claim check(s) matches your final destination.
Please see the TSA's web site for a list of prohibited items.

Baggage Allowance: For each ticketed Customer, Southwest allows three (3) checked pieces with size limitations for each individual piece.

Excess Baggage: Excess baggage will be charged at the rate of $50.00 for the first (1st) through the ninth (9th) extra bag and $110.00 for each piece checked thereafter.

Weight and Size Allowance: Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per checked piece of luggage. Effective March 1, 2005, overweight items from 51 to 70 pounds will be accepted for a charge of $25.00 per item. Items weighing from 71 to 100 pounds and oversized items in excess of 62 inches but not more than 80 inches (i.e., surfboards, bicycles, vaulting poles) will be accepted for a charge of $50.00 per item. Any item weighing more than 100 pounds must be shipped as Air Cargo. However, Customers cannot use SWA Cargo unless classified as a Known Shipper as defined by the FAA or FAA approved Indirect Air Carriers (IAC). For all Cargo inquires please call the Cargo Sales and Service Center at 1-800-533-1222.

:bounce: :santa: :bounce: Those of us flying Southwest can have Three .... 3 checked items ! Woo Hoo now I know I don't have to ship a tree. :thumbsup2

I thought this would help some others.

Thanks for the baggage information, Angel16!

Tomorrow will be the last day to sign up (Halloween). I close the swap to any newcomers 11/1 first thing in the morning (I'll count the overnight submissions). I will post the lists within a day or two of that, and I will start PM'ing the "first in line" people to see if they're still in, and will be supplying a tree. If they bow out, I'll take them off the list and ask the 2nd in line, and so on. As soon as the list is posted, you can start PM'ing the person before and after you in line in order to set up your own swap. Please let me know if you get no response from the people you're swapping with, so I can bump them off the list and rearrange. So, as you can see, the sooner you let me know where you stand, the easier it is for me, and everyone else involved.

Thanks, everyone, for your involvement in this! It really does add a sparkle to the holiday vacations!
