The caboose swap closed

Quick question: are we going to receive notice on how much the final cost will be? Or are we all just sending in $15? Just wondering how this works out...

The final cost will be $15. As per DIS swap rules, we will only collect enough to purchase the stroller and materials. After that ammount, the swap will be free to join.
Materials include:
Bright paper and sharpie for those who need to check the stroller with baggage services, or to leave a love note for your fellow swappers!
Clorox Wipes to ensure that we can hand off a clean stroller
Rain cover, for obvious reasons (the swap covers the heart of hurricane season!)
Does anyone have any other suggestions of needs?

So after we recieve 15 payments, I will post that the stroller swap is free.

Is this still going to be a sit/stand double stroller like on the first page? If so I am out 12/11-12/17 Thanks

Iheartdisney-I just sent you a pm about the swap. I'm interested in December 18-27. I was looking for a single stroller but I think this will work fine. Is it bulky when folded?

I PMed you back, but wanted to answer in case anyone had the same questions.
First off, what a great idea to use it as a single. It is nowhere near the giant that a standard tandem stroller is. In fact, it folds up just about the size of a single. And you will have plenty of room for your bags!
The front ray is removable, and the seat does recline, though I do not think it is a full recline.

I'll put you down for your dates, let me know otherwise!

My daughter has this stroller and commented that she read it does get stolen since it is such a nice stroller....she recommended a lock, but I don't think that works well with WDW stroller parking areas. I would recommend something to really stand out and make it obvious so someone wouldn't be as likely to steal it. Bright colors, something....any other ideas?

We are interested, and it looks like the person before me is staying where we'll be staying--Kadesha. We will be staying at the Pop Century--is it possible to leave it there when you leave on the 25th and we'll get it on the 26th from guest services?

Let me know if it's still available.

Thanks!

I am new and haven't gotten all my posts yet, so I will work on that, in the mean time you'll have to post here. I'll get it done :-)

Never mind, I got my 10, so you can PM me. Thanks!

It has been suggested that I owe the group an explanation as to the cost of the swap, and questionig the fairness of charging only 15 swappers, rather than our current 20. let me explain both points.

1. Cost:
Stroller: 179.99
http://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Caboose...2&pf_rd_r=09YGTAT1APBYBDRREGJS&pf_rd_i=507846
Rain cover: 34.99
http://www.amazon.com/Joovy-Snug-Rain-Shield-Cover/dp/B000JIINLQ/ref=pd_sim_ba_1
Cleaning wipes, paper and marker: $10.00
This comes up to $225, which divded by 15 is the $15 cost I am asking. Divide that by 20, and it is $3.75 less.

2. I decided on 15 because it was a nice round number that took into account any last minute cancellations (we've already had one). Also, I'm kind of an advance planner, so the thought of waiting until the last day possible to give a final ammount can give me hives! At some point the stroller will be paid for, and we cannot collect any more money. That is against DIS policies. It seems like a hassle to me to refund the money that has already been collected and send out a new Pm with new payment information.

So, the alternative suggested was to collect $15 from all of the 20 swappers who have signed up, and use the extra on accessories we would like. Does that seems fair to everyone? Since the list is updated daily, this will include:

AUG 8-15 (temary)
AUG 15-23 (mickeyp)
AUG 27- SEPT 4 (photolover)
SEPT 4-10. (*iheartdisney*)
SEPT 13-20 (wedisney4)
SEPT 20-26 (karlag4kids)
SEPT 27- OCT 4 (jody618)
OCT 4-8 (3Disneyboys)
OCT 9- 14 (enya1973)
OCT 14-20 (coolsek)
NOV 5-9 (*RutgersAlum*)
NOV 20-25 (kadesha)
NOV 26-29 (PA Disney)
NOV 29- DEC 7(cukal6)
DEC 7-11 (zoie101)
DEC 18-27 (4lilpoohs)
DEC 27-JAN 2 (*disneyfans-poage*)
JAN 8-16 (peach3es)
JAN 16-23 (*heidipa*)
JAN 25-31 (*bunkkinsmom*)

Accessories we can still use include:
Stroller lock
Parent tray
additional sun protection

I am open to any suggestions and/or opinions anyone might have. We aer all equal participants here. This is the first swap I have participated in, let alone started, so forgive me if I seem in over my head!

No worries, I think $15 is more than fair!!! My only concern is, being the last on the list, what do I do with it after? Also, what happens if it gets damaged before it gets to me?

That's it! $15 is great! :thumbsup2

I can't imagine how much work this has all been, so I just want to thank you, iheartdisney, for all of it.

The accessories sounds fine, I especially like the lock idea (but don't remember many places to lock strollers to in Stroller Parking areas--though I guess we could lock the wheels together to make it REAL difficult for someone to talk the stroller without being noticed...). I also appreciate the wipes being there because, well, who wants to be handed a yucky stroller:thumbsup2

I don't care whether 5 people don't pay and I did (but I can see people being a little peeved by it). I just appreciate spending $15 instead of the $124 I *would* pay to Disney for the same convenience.

I'm not sure what I added to this, if anything, but thank you for all of this.:hippie:

Good question, bukkinsmom, what happens if the stroller doesn't make it to us because it breaks/gets stolen beforehand (not sure if I want to know...?). I would imagine we are simply out our $15...:sad2:

I am THRILLED with paying $15 and it really doesn't matter to me if everyone pays, or it falls back on a few who got it going and had our dates locked in at an early time. It is still a steal! I know with previous types of swaps it is a risk you take if something happens (broken, stolen, etc). I sure hope that everyone will be careful, responsible and take care of the property. This is a huge undertaking and I sure appreciate those that are going to the time and trouble to get it going.....:thumbsup2 ! If anyone can figure out how to lock the sucker in place, I would vote for the lock. Otherwise whatever the extra money goes to will be just fine with me. Anything to make the stroller more recognizable and less likely to be stolen is high on my priority list. Thanks again for all of your efforts! I know that it seems like "no good turn goes unpunished" at times, but I for one REALLY appreciate your work and your planning! Hopefully your pay off will be a super fantastic vacation filled with dreams!
Karla
PS, my $15 has been sent through pay pal. Let me know if it didn't get there!

I think $15 is a great deal. I'm collecting the money and will place the order as soon as it's all in. If we want to add the parent tray just let me know. I plan to order the stroller and rain guard together.

Right now Amazon has one in an orange color...I was thinking of getting the blue b/c it's neutral but if we want to go for bright or different maybe the orange is a better option.

Thanks!

BTW...Whoo Hoo for the swap sticky iin the budget boards.

Now for some questions.
I'm hoping for the best, but in the event of a broken/lost/stolen stroller, unfortunately we won't be able to return any money. I'm hoping for a great vacation!

As for the lock...I was thinking about a bicycle type lock, to lock the wheel to the frame, so a CM could still move it around the stroller parking lot, but no one else could take it much further.

At the end of the swap, if we don't get anyone for the cold-off season months...you can take it with you or find a family in line to rent a stroller and make some magic!:wizard:

Thank you all for your words of thanks! I think we all need to take a pic with the stroller and post them in the thread when you get home! That would be awesome!
