The Bus System at WDW HAS to be fixed.

Never encountered a problem waiting for a bus that long. 1 hour is crazy.

Here is a thread I read on the rumors board. Maybe this will be a start in the right direction

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=963480

Walt Disney World to spend 15 million dollars on Disney Transportation to Buy New Buses and Upgrade existing Buses. Disney will begin installing new Digital Sound systems in all of its Bus Fleet making up RTS, Nova and Gillig Buses. Each Bus will soon have automatic spiels system and pay Disney Park Music on the way to the park.

That would be fantastic! I hope it happens!

Tyler's going to flame me on this but...

Let's start a fad!

If it takes inordinately long for buses to come, make a note of it, speak to someone at Guest Relations giving precise details, and ask for an extra fastpass (for any ride, no time window) for each member of your party.

Buses simply being full at park closing does not count.

IMHO in the event of a crash, people at the rear of a packed bus are less likely to be injured by being piled upon!

OT: A refurbished section of Boston's Green Line transit (looks like a monorail in some respects) opened a few weeks ago. The other day I walked into station #1 and boarded a single car "train" already there. Five minutes later they changed over from turnstiles to "pay on train", opening a gate. (No conductor boarded the car to collect fares from additional passengers boarding.) As best as I could tell the car was there for over 20 minutes before taking off, the headway is supposed to be less than 15 minutes with two cars per train. Some people who had put tokens in the turnstiles were still on the platform because the car got filled. When the car arrived at station #2 there were lots of people waiting there and left behind. I did not witness what happened back at station #1 but I did know that there was a mixture of paid and unpaid passengers on the platform for the next train.

Generally, we had great luck with the Disney Transportation, but we did have one not so great experience. We were trying to get from DTD to MGM, we had enough time to ride a few rides, then catch Fantasmic. We asked a bus driver to tell us how to do it. The first one said, get on any bus to a resort, then catch the MGM bus from there. Okay, sounded fine. He then said, you should get on a bus to a resort that is close to MGM. Okay fine again. Next, we go to get on the Pop somthing-or-other bus, and this driver tells us to get on the bus to the Boardwalk, and that MGM is across the street. Alrighty, third time's the charm. We get on the bus, ride for 5 stops. Ask the driver as we get off, how to get to MGM, and he points to the bus stop and says that a bus will pick us up there, or we can take a boat. We head over to the boat dock, and realize that we've just missed a boat, and the next one is coming in 1/2 an hour. We decide to walk all the way around the lagoon. We did make it in time to ride RNR and see Fantasmic, but the whole trip took 1 1/2 hours. We could have ridden the bus back to our own resort that we were familiar with, and gotten to MGM in 30 min. Oh well. We managed to laugh about it anyway.

Just to add... on our last trip (Nov. '05), we headed to Disney Studios one morning on a bus from CR that was empty 'cept for us. We made a stop at Poly (no one to pick up) and headed to GF. There was one family at the GF bus stop plus a CM. The CM asked the driver if he could divert to AK because this family had been waiting for well over 1/2 hour with him for a bus to AK!

There are glitches in the system.

We just came back and the bus system in the worst it has ever been! We felt we spent more time trying to get places than in the parks! Our last bus ride was from DD to POR and that took well over and hour between waiting for it to finally arrive and then having to make a million stops! We almost missed our ME back to the airport-in fact if they hadn't been running late then we would have missed by 15 minutes! We gave ourselves more than an hour to get back and we were still late!

I'd never recommend using Disney Transportation to DTD. Use a rental car or take a cab, but never depend on a Disney bus. DTD appears to be the orphan of the Disney transportation system.

I've found the bus transportation at WDW to be pretty darned good actually. Sure, it isn't as convenient as paying extra to have your own rental car at your beck and call, or paying extra to use taxis to take you where you want to go when you want to go, but for an "included" service, it's really quite super.

DTD has always been the orphan. I remember when the only resorts were Poly, CR, FW, and Golf Resort - now Shades of Green. The buses between these would run about every 10 minutes. YOu had to transfer at TTC for DTD and these buses would only run every 20 minutes.. maybe longer.

Well, to be fair, DTD wasn't DTD back then, and wasn't even a shadow of the Mecca it is today.

In May 2005, the only issue I can remember sticking out is I needed to be at Spoodles on the Boardwalk for 10am PS. I took my kids from All Star Resort to TTC by car and we rode the monorail around one time b/c my kids loved it and then we waiting at MK for a bus to the boardwalk resort. We started our wait at like 9 so we'd be at Spoodles on time. The bus never arrived, finally a driver noticed we'd been waiting and gave us a ride there. We arrived at Spoodles at about 10:10. It was a day off while my wife was at a conference so we weren't in any hurry except for the PS.

The other issue would've been the crowds going to the All Stars from MK after the fireworks. We usually just sat in the back and waiting for the last buses, much less crowded, but we didn't get back to resort till very late. But heck, we're on vacation so who cares. JUST SMILE AND ENJOY YOURSELF. :earsboy:

I was going to say basically the same thing, so I'll hitch a ride on your bandwagon, bicker! :)
