~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

I'm in for Baltimore:hippie: . The race is Saturday so Friday-Sunday at the Homewood Suites, 625 South President Street. I've stayed there before, it's brand new, close to the water, near the Inner Harbor and pretty close to the 1/2 start. AAA rate is doable.

ooh, a Saturday race? I like that!

Just to sweeten the pot :stir: here's the down & dirty on the registration:

Sounds like a steal to me since I'm seriously on the fence about WDW '10 due to their outrageous registration fees:rolleyes1

Daaaang! This cheapskate's heart rate just went up a few :woohoo: :yay: ! Couple that with cheap SW fares...:scared1: I'm liable to have a coronary here @ my desk!:lmao:

And how did you find that picture of me in 2nd grade???:rotfl2:

Whoever posted the pic did not make it private, so when you commented on it, it showed up in my “live feed” as “Jodi commented on …”

Cindy - I just finally registered for the National a couple of days ago. I just couldn't stand the thought of missing the expo!

Ha!

Cindy - Glad you've found some inspiration:hippie: and congrats on registering for the 1/2 marathon:goodvibes . I may be asking you and Matt a ton of logistics questions about RNR in the near future so I'm apologizing in advance:confused3 .

Ask away - no worries. I'll get Matt back on here if I can't answer. (Although his knowledge of San Diego proved a bit lacking at Cam and Howard's, if I recall correctly.)

Colleen – Good luck to your DD this weekend.

I didn’t run today, but I did run yesterday, which means I ran 2 days in a row! I did not look back at my (lack of) training log, but I think that might be my first time running 2 days in a row since the Goofy. Pathetic.

It kind of sounds like there is no one fall race that will work for everyone :sad1: (Howard posted on facebook that he can't do Baltimore) but it does sound like Baltimore will work for a lot of people. I’m willing to commit to the half there! I also will be at MCM (not running the marathon, but the 10k or at least cheering or volunteering).

Thanks:love: Hopefully I won't stress too much about the logistics:laughing: .

Was it the free beer that cinched the deal for you:confused3 ? You can certainly have my beer coupons if you want them:thumbsup2 Congrats for running 2 days in a row and thanks so much for making me feel lots better about my lack of consistence:hug: .

What she's trying to say, Cindy, is "Wow, I'm not the only one who sucks!";)

The Baltimore Half sounds like a plan for me too.

I'd normally say "Hell, I'll do the full and then Richmond too." but I told Colleen's DH Jeff that I wouldn't run another full prior to Richmond since he thinks he can pull me around to a PR there. Crazy Canadians take all the fun out of it!

Cindy (and anyone else interested) - Special 3rd medal and $10 discount if you run Frederick on May 3rd and Baltimore in October. http://www.frederickmarathon.org/raceinfo/Maryland_Double.htm

WTG on the two days in a row.

Jodi - So sweet of you to be supportive of your friends here. Nothing makes me feel better about myslef than having someone tell me I suck. Well, maybe if someone called me a looser, or a worthless peice of human excrement, or... well, I'm sure you know some others.

Lou - I'm sure you'll do great at the Julius Caesar-Rodney Allen Rippy race. Enjoy yourself.

Sara - Thanks for the early travel tip for Baltimore.

Colleen - Nice to see you decided to grace us with your presence again. I hope the job is going well. Have fun at the swim meet.

I have to admit something to you all. I signed up for my first 5k on Saturday. I'm really kind of nervous about it. I'd like to put up a decent time but the course is sort of heinous (in Jodi terms) and I've really got no clue what the hell I'm doing, so we'll see.

I did get out for 7 easy miles this morning, so I guess I only partially suck!

Mike - Glad to see that you're running a 5k this weekend! Just "warm up" a little before hand, some strides & crap, then run as fast as you freakin' can!:lmao: Or, if you're like The Cloud, run like a girl's gonna pass ya!;).
Glad to see that we've finally found a race that you can participate in :snooty: . Are you sure you don't have to wash your hair that day or something?

I, myself, am doing a 5k on Sunday. The O' something or another. All I know is that there's is free beer @ the end :yay: ! And it better not be cat urine beer, either. I want Guiness or the like!

I bet I can get Baltimore to work out for us. A Saturday marathon works a lot better, and then maybe I can hang out with my sister on Sunday. It looks like Monday is Columbus Day. So more than likely the kids will be off of school.

Oooh, I didn't know it was Columbus Day Weekend! BONUS!

Excuse me, we prefer to be called Crazy Canucks. :snooty:

Baltimore, probably not going to happen for us. That is a must-do swim meet weekend.

OK, keeping the conversation going.

The next weekend we have on Oct 18:
Atlantic City, NY
Toronto, ON
Mt Desert Island, ME

How about the Adirondack Marathon on Sept 20th? popcorn:: Fly into Albany, no worries!

Colleen - I was going to go with Canuck but was afraid it had somehow turned into something ethnically Offensive (long O) and didn't want to P.O. you or Dudley Do Right.

Cindy - The 5k is about half a mile from our house; http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1644909&assetId=8acb2c24-3ae3-43c2-89c8-d120afd83fae. Interested? Normally, I'd invite you over afterward for some breakfast or something but we will be rushing back, de-stinkifying, and then heading to the local St. P. parade. 2 of the DD's are marching/dancing.

Still, if you and Matt (or just you if Matt is still out of town) want to come it could be fun. You could even tag along to the parade if you're desperate for something to do.

Jodi - Sadly, my 5K is held at an elementary school so no beer, bad or otherwise, will be had :sad2: .

Hey BOT's... I consider all of you like my extended family so I wanted to share this kernel. I am totally freaked out about this..

As you probably know I have had some non-PF foot pain/tenderness the last few days. The 5K I ran was fine last Saturday, no problems. However, I've felt like my foot was "stoved" or that something internal wasn't right. It felt that way at work, but no major pain or tenderness. Only when I wiggled my goes, etc.

I went out for a run tonight to test it out in preperation for the Rodney Allen Rippey Caesar Rodney Race as you guys call it. I managed a about 5.5 (around a 9:00 pace) when the bottom fell out. It was hurting so much I had to walk the last 1.6 miles home. :sad2:

At this point, I am going to go to work tomorrow and on the way home go to a urgent care place to get it looked at/x-rayed. I may have a fracture or something. If it is not, it certainly is something. At this point trying to run on it would be idiotic. If for some reason there is nothing found on the x-ray and it feels better, I can try to run/walk the half on Sunday.

For now, everything hinges on how it feels tomorrow and if I have to go to the urgent care place for an x-ray. I'll keep you posted.

As the Bartles and James guys used to say. " Thank you for your support."

Howard

Sorry to hear that Howard. I'll be very curious to hear what news you get from the doctor. I wish you all the best.
