~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Cindylou – I’m sorry that you didn’t get your BQ, but congratulations on a great finishing time!

Mike – Please give my congratulations to Kathy. That is an amazing time – I’m very impressed. I don’t think you’ve posted it here, but I stalked you on the race confirmation portion of the National Marathon Web site and see that you are registered! Excellent! We will have to meet up before the race.

Colleen – I hope you are enjoying your new tutoring gig

Jodi – I would love to do that American Odyssey relay. Did I read that you ran 5 days in a row?!? What the heck is up with that? Glad your dog didn't poop in your house.:thumbsup2

Jen – Congratulations on your PR!

Howard – I hope that your head cold and foot are feeling better.

Dave – Nice job on getting some weekend mileage in.

Sara – Hi. I hope you are doing ok.

Lou – I hope that you like your new car.

Chester – Great cheering outfit!

Facebook! You too?? Here's my "haven't drunk the Koolaid" question: Does everyone interact individually or can it be a group discussion sort of thing like here? I guess I'm just an old busybody but I'm just as interested in what everyone else is chatting with each other about.

Mike - you interact individually, but you can see what other people post on your friends' pages. There is also the ability to set up individual groups. As an added benefit - you can see a picture of Jodi when she was in second grade!

So, I think I have decided that I am, once again, motivated to run (for the first time since Philly, really). (Too bad I let myself get so out of shape before I made this decision). I ran 7 miles on Sunday and that took a lot of effort (I’m sure the SIX POUNDS I’ve gained since Disney is not helping). Did 4 this morning. I’m going to plan on running a couple more times this week, 10 over the weekend, and a few times next week. That will have to be it for my training for the National Half.

I am currently planning on registering for the Pacers Running Festival Half Marathon (May 10) http://www.pacersrunningfestival.com/ and I will actually try to train for that one! (Mike, any interest?)

Yep, that's my girl!

I'll toot her horn since she would never do it. She knocked another 10 minutes off her PR - finished in 2:47 at a 12:45 or so pace. All I can say is that is SMOKIN' fast walking. No way I could ever come close to that! Needless to say, I am very proud of her.

Mike
Kathy kept her strong pace going the whole way. Every time I saw her she seemed determined and driven. She never looked like it was a struggle for her. I'm proud of her too.

Congratulations to Kathy, Jen & Butch nice job, guys. I'm glad you had an enjoyable grown-up weekend, Jen, sometimes those are too far & few between.:)

Chester - I must say that you do look like a demented leprechaun in that picture :lmao: :thumbsup2 . I mean, not that that's a bad thing :rotfl: .

Mike - Tell Kathy :thumbsup2 ! And I didn't say NOT to go on Facebook, I just said it wasn't really necessary. It is fun, though :rolleyes1 .

Cindy - How was your trip out to wherever? I assume you're back since you're running. I know what you mean about those 7 miles. I did 6 on Sat. & was DYING  . Oh well. And how did you find that picture of me in 2nd grade???:rotfl2: . Tell Matt "hey".

Check Colleen out, she has to work 20 hours in a week & completely disappears from the boards! It's called multi-tasking, sweetheart!:cutie:

Lou - How's the new car? What'd you get? All set for Sunday?

Howeird - Nice chatting with you the other night...take care of that foot! I take it you're ready for Sunday. Did you apply for NYC yet? Let me know the definite date on that Ridgfield 1/2 when you can!

Sara - :confused3 popcorn::

Dave - So is Pittsburgh the only thing on your horizon? I "hear" you're doing the Muddy Buddy with someone from the boards/facebook, right? RU considering the Yeti crap again?

I ran 3 Sunday, nada yesterday & 6 today. That's way too much. Considering a local 1/2 on 4/5, but the dude says it's rolling hills with "substantial" hills @ mile 10 & 11, then kinda downhill for 12 & 13. Hmmm...not sure I could break 2 hours on that bad-boy. I think I'll wait for something later in the month...somewhere. I've been trying to work on my speed & its been quite unsuccessful:yay: .

Cindy - Good to see you back on the wagon again. You've had a rough winter with being sick so don't sweat the lack of running.

Matt - How are you doing with running? What's new at Trimble?

Jodi - Ocean Drive...10 miles from Cape May to Wildwood. Plus you get a medal for a wimpy 10 mile race. You in?

Chester - Nice outfit. You looked like the Liberace if he decided to start running.

Mike - Time to get on Facebook. You can just lurk and watch everyone else chat.

Jen - That's cool that you and Butch are in for Broad St. You guys will love it. Congrats on the 1/2!

Sara - What's new? I must be missing the threads you post on because I haven't seen a post in a while.

Dave, Howard - Thanks for the FB well wishes on the car situation.

Hey Colleen and any non-FB Bots I may have missed.

Got in 8.5 miles on Sunday at 8:50mpm pace. Nada yesterday and 4 miles at 8:25 mpm pace today. Hoping the weather gets decent for Sunday for this Caesar Rodney race. I'll take 40 and sunny.

Got my bib in the mail for the Ocean Drive 10-miler today. If I like this race on 3/29 I'll think about running the marathon next year. It's supposed to be real tough because of wind but very scenic. Any Bots want to come to Cape May for a little R&R before Easter?

The car situation is resolved. Picked up a new Chevy Malibu last night. GM is basically giving cars away. Well, not that dramatic but they sold the car for $750 below invoice. I sat their quiet and let Nicole beat the Chevy manager down until they couldn't go any lower. The salesman said their sales are down 50% from last year and needed to sell a car. Good time to buy anything if you actually have some money.

Lou

Hey so are we running something together this year or what?

I know smaller groups are getting together. Is there a group running Nashville, Richmond, and Marine Corps?

I was a little worried when I called out "Hey Butch" to your DH at the start and got a dirty look from one woman. She must have thought I was making a statement about her sexual preferences and not simply cheering for your husband.:rotfl:
Now that's funny!!

Dave - I'm doing Nashville and Richmond. Sara was planning on Nashville as well. I'm not sure about anyone else.

Jodi - You are the running machine. Do the hilly half and see how it goes. You can try another one later in the month if you don't get the outcome you want.

Chester - Kathy has a good picture of you also. I'll try to post it sometime this week. All I'll say is that I bet no kids would try to steal your Lucky Charms!

Lou - Congrats on the new ride. This does seem like the optimal time to buy.

Cindy - Way to go getting the mojo back! I just finally registered for the National a couple of days ago. I just couldn't stand the thought of missing the expo!

Jen - I'm not sure if I told you, but great job to you and Butch.

Howard - Sorry you're not feeling well. Hopefully it passes quickly. Take it easy on the running prior to your half. You'll do more harm than good trying to pack too much training in too short a time.

Hi Sara and Colleen and all others!

I got out for my 20 miler today. It went pretty well considering I picked the "Glutton for Punishment" route. I'll shoot for a few recovery miles tomorrow.

Have a good night!

Mike - I've now decided to stick with RNR San Diego and nix CMM 1/2. The lack of a regular running routine and already being registered for San Diego, as well as cheaper fares roundtrip to SAN sealed the deal for me. Congrats on the 20 miles:cheer2: Tell Kathy she rocked the Princess :worship: .

Dave - I'd really like to look for a fall event for a BOT run. MCM would work for me or any other race you guys come up with:thumbsup2

Lou - Congrats on the new car and so very glad DW & DD are okay:hug: Best of luck on the Ocean 10-miler:banana:

Jodi - Well, no reply to my PM about CMM so I figured I'd let you wonder:rotfl: Definitely kick out the 1/2 on 4/5 or look for another race to keep you going:yay:

Cindy - Glad you've found some inspiration:hippie: and congrats on registering for the 1/2 marathon:goodvibes . I may be asking you and Matt a ton of logistics questions about RNR in the near future so I'm apologizing in advance:confused3 .

Chester - Loved the pic and the WISH team spirit being proudly displayed this past weekend:grouphug: . OMG, thanks for making me nearly PMP about the "butch" comment:rotfl2:

Howard - How are you feeling and how's the foot:hug: ? Great job on the 5k and get some rest since spring's bound to be here any moment and you'll be itching to put in the miles:yay: . Please give Cam my love:love:

Jen - Congrats to you and Butch on the great Princess PR's:cheer2: Glad you have a wonderful weekend away.

Colleen - popcorn:: Miss you girl!! Hope the teaching's doing it for you this week and please come play soon:rolleyes1 .

The TM was supposed to be delivered on Monday and never showed up:headache: . Glad I took time-off for that:mad: Now I get to repeat the exercise on Friday and it better happen:rolleyes: Maggie's going to get spayed on Friday and I'm stressing about that. I actually have a walking marathon training program on the fridge for RNR so we'll see how it goespopcorn:: . Still wondering where I'm going to fit physical therapy 3 x per week into my life so luckily the leg has stayed relatively quiet. Well, with little running it's no wonder:laughing: . I'm resigned to the fact it'll all come together eventually and patience is a virtue so I'm hanging in there;)
Miss you guys:grouphug: and swear once I get my running life back in the groove I'll be all happy posting regularly

Hi Everyone: It seems like I haven't had much time to post lately. I've been swamped at work. I apologize for not replying to everyone, but believe me, I think of you all often and love checking in here.

I want to throw out some names and dates to keep the fall marathon idea rolling...

Sept 26 - Hamptons Marathon, NY
Sept 27 - Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, ON
Oct 10 - ING Hartford Marathon, CT
Oct 18 - Detroit Marathon, MI
Oct 18 - Mt Desert Island Marathon, ME
Nov 15 - Rock N Roll San Antonio Marathon, TX
Nov 29 - Space Coast Marathon, FL

OK, gotta run... well, not literally. Literally, I need to sit and work.

Thanks for doing this, Dave.
I also found the Adirondack Marathon in the beginning of Sept. that looks real nice.
what do you say, BOTS?

What about Baltimore? Early Oct. (and has a half). Good location for a number of Bots - many of us could drive and near BWI for cheap SW flights for others.

This would be GREAT for me, but I thought we discussed this @ our powerlunch @ macaroni&cheesegrill & someone had a problem with it? :confused3

I thought it was still on our crayon-written list.:confused3

Ahhh, yes, the list...you may very well be right. I had to leave early, if you recall :rolleyes1 , so I wasn't privy to any other conversations that might have taken place. Did someone "rip" that list off the table & take it with them?

Baltimore sounds good:thumbsup2 October 10th, the full starts @ 8:00 and the 1/2 starts at 9:45. Cheap SW flights for sure:yay:

Dave - Thanks for compiling the list:hug:

Airtran is a really cheap flight to Baltimore for me too, but I would probably drive and bring the whole family.

Here's my only issue with Baltimore, my sister lives in Baltimore and I would feel obligated to spend time with her and her family. I rarely spend time with her, and she would flip out if I went to Baltimore and didn't spend the vast majority of my time with her.

I'd really like to spend time with all of you, but if Baltimore works best for everyone I'm in for it. I just might only get to see you all at the race itself.

Dude, that's fine, we'll just have our pre-race dinner at her house! :rotfl:

Here I go multi-tasking. Kids home from swim, dinner made, but dishes still on the table, homework being done as I write these, wait I need to spell "heirloom" for my daughter...back...need to get DS back on track with his cell practice...OK, I am here now for a few minutes...

Yes, I don't know how moms do it that work full time. Anyhow, I have been reading, but alas, I have not training to report, but I will make a few comments.

First, Mike, Kathy's 2:47 is smokin' fast walking!!!!! That is awesome!!!!! Congratulations Kathy!:cool1: :thumbsup2

Second, Chester, if I saw you on the side cheering in that get-up, I would stop for a pic too!:yay:

Jodi, not sure what my plans are for the Fall, if any, I think Jeff is thinking about Richmond, somewhere close enough to drive.

Sara, hope you find time for your physio! What's with the treadmill not showing up, don't they know you are a busy lady.

Lou, we are in the market for a new vehicle, could Nicole come do some negotiating for us?popcorn::

Hi to Howard, Cam, Dave and all, gotta go and get these kids ready for bed soon.

I need to pack again for the final swim meet of the season. DD swims Friday, Sat and Sun in Raleigh.

Hey everyone!

Mike - Way to go on the 20-miler! Good for you. I am trying to get motivated for 13 this weekend.

Sara - You're young...you probably could use the time off from running. I bet you'll be back in 2009 if you just take it easy for a while.

Dave - Not sure what I'll do this fall. I just signed up for NYC so I can't commit until I find out if I can get it. this is year2 for me. The Atlantic City Marathon is on October 18, 2009, on The Atlantic City Boardwalk. I heard it includes a buffet lunch at one of the casinos.

Cindy - Baltimore is a possibility. It's close for me and I have family there to stay with.

Colleen - I'll send Nicole down to negoitate. She's all quiet until the "manager" puts down those numbers. Then she threatens to walk out and makes them beg to keep her. I felt bad for the guy. She'll get you something nice.

Howard - I definitely plan to catch up with you and Cam before Caesar. Not sure if I will just park in the city or drive over to your place. It depends if Nicole has anything planned on Sunday and if I have to make a quick getaway after the race. I'll let you know. I do plan to stay for the food. They had pizza last year.

I'm up for Baltimore or A.C. in October. Then if I get lucky and get into NYC I have time to get ready. If I don't get into NYC I plan to run Philly again because I want to get in under 4 hours.

Got in 5 motivated miles this AM. The Rocky theme kicked in at Mile 1 and I hit 6:15 mpm for about .25 mile. Finished at a 8:20 mpm pace. Now I'll take it easy for Caesar.

Good night!

Lou

So can we agree on Baltimore, peeps?:confused3 Everyone needs to sound off. For those of you doing Richmond, you could still do the Baltimore, 1/2, that's what i'll do, since NYC is Nov. 1

I'm in for Baltimore:hippie: . The race is Saturday so Friday-Sunday at the Homewood Suites, 625 South President Street. I've stayed there before, it's brand new, close to the water, near the Inner Harbor and pretty close to the 1/2 start. AAA rate is doable.
