The Boathouse Opening & Amphicar Pricing

Maybe he is snacking on the asparagus. :-)

$100 is way too steep for the car boat ride thing. I could see it as a novelty thing. Not sure how long it will last at those prices. Makes me wonder how the set up is--does the restaurant own the cars? Do the drivers? Does this rate cover paying them, car maintenance (or car rental), and the not mentioned liability coverage?

I don't see this as a sustainable activity. But then folks paid hundreds for a ride along in a stock car and that lasted several years.
That's probably the best comparison that could be made. Those rides only got THREE laps at speed. And it was way over $33/per person. Granted, a higher-speed experience, but also a very short duration. I think folks will do it, but I'm still afraid it will be gone (as you say, maintenance and other issues) before we get to try it.

Not Even.

I mean I have paid some silly prices for a little fun (150.00 plus tip for a private carriage ride in NOLA comes to mind, but twenty minutes for a view of not much AND you don't get to drive. I'll pass.

Unless, of course, there's a pearl in it...
Funny about a pearl......

My wife & I were dining at BlueZoo one evening a few years ago and yes, I discovered a small pearl inside one of our oysters.

The Chef wanted my pearl, so I offered to trade it for my lobster dinner. Needless to say, I went home with my pearl and paying my bill.

Also, our Server/Waiter remembered us on a subsequent visit a year later.....because we were the only time a customer of his had a pearl in their oyster....

That's so funny! In all the truckloads of oysters I've eaten, I've never found one either. I think you ended up with a good souvenir--you'd have paid for that lobster anyway! :)

Asparagus is an expensive veggie to begin with, but $21 does seem excessive. As does $9 for french fries  But if you build it, they will come... no matter the pricing.

Am I the only one who's a little disappointed it has such a big seafood focus? With Fulton's in close proximity, I wasn't expecting that. Good meat options though. I guess Seafood is to be expected being on the water, but still.

People are paying $49 for the new Wishes desert party, which is a couple of drinks and off the shelf deserts (cupcakes, fruits, cheese), so this is on par.

I live on (near) the East Coast and went to college in New Orleans....I have had boatloads of oysters and only a couple of very small pearls. But the one at BlueZoo was almost the real thing in terms of size.

Curious how a side of mushrooms and a side of asparagus can be a combined cost ($21 each/$42 combined) more than most entrees. Maybe it's just a way to over-charge vegetarians.

Most entree prices looked consistent with Disney Signatures. No other surprises, save maybe the $100 caviar and $10 children's desserts.

Yeah, the pricing on veggies is definitely "odd". I didn't think most of the entrees were unreasonable. Pricey? Yes, but not outrageous compared to other signatures. I'd try the Boathouse, I just won't be ordering asparagus or mushrooms.

As a vegetarian, didn't see anything that looked interesting so easy to pass.
