The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Here are the chicken wings. John LOVED them...he LURVED them! I ate one...there are four left. I bought two pounds, you do the math. Changes: no sesame seeds because my stomach was tetchy today and seeds sometimes make that worse. After cooking them for about 40 minutes I drained off the extra liquid and started broiling them. I tossed them with 1 tbsp. butter when cooked, as well as 4 chopped scallions.

I got the units into the kids' rooms, but the unit I have for downstairs is much too heavy for me. I also discovered today that I can't even put a unit in my bedroom because I only have two outlets...one that the computer is plugged into (near the windows, of course) and one in a completely useless location between the door and the closet.

I don't like sweet wines. I guess if I get a German red, I will have to age it a while. Wine doesn't last that long around here, though.

 I have to say, even Liam didn't complain about having to go sit in the rink today. I am rethinking the cupcakes. The frosting will be melted by the time I get the batch to the school. It is supposed to hit near 100 tomorrow. :faint:

I didn't put the marinade in with the chicken. I put half on, and then jarred the other half. I'm all for the five-second rule, but other than that, I do try to practice food safety. :thumbsup2

Here's a picture of tonight's dinner:

It is lettuce, tomato, brie, avocado and a vinaigrette. It was good, but if I made it again, I would replace the vinaigrette with sundried tomato paste. That would be delicious.

That sandwich looks so good! That's a shame about your ac's, I really would have given up on cupcakes!

That wine was really a surprise to me! The only sweet wines that I like are dessert wines. Rosa with chocolate, ice wine with fruit & cheese are usually the only sweets I go for.

I hunted for that marinade earlier today & put it in my recipe file. I'm going to have to try it for sure! I mean John surely thought they were something special!!

For hot days the food sure sounds good! My dinner was not so good last night. Nothing tasted good, it all tasted like freezer to me :confused3. Grilled steak, grilled pork chops marinated in Yo****a sauce, both tasted the same. Marisa even tossed some burgers on the grill and they tasted yucky so I guess I just was not in the mood for meat.

I made a faux fried rice but used grated cauliflower in place of the rice. It was really good. Again my favorite green beans. And a salad.

Tonight needs to be easy because if the weather holds Buddy is hauling everyone out to pull plants and set. There are scattered chances of thunderstorms in our area so we are just hoping they miss us.

I think I will make a lazy stuffed cabbage or some kind of Shepard's pie.

Stay cool, all of you!

Good Morning!

Quick check in. We are having burgers and salad tonight...I will have a veggie burger.

We didn't eat this last night since we were driving all over the state to take Tom to the podiatrist! He went to a new one around here and he didn't like him so we traveled up to the burbs to go to his regular doctor. I hope today he feels better. I am not a good nurse.

Have a great day! Be back later!

Quick check-in here too....

Have chicken marinating in "Lauren's famous marinade" for grilling tonight, not sure of sides yet.

Have a great day!

Assuming the ac holds up and I can turn my stove on, I am planning to make a wild mushroom-asparagus fricassee, with a crouton and poached egg, plus hollondaise. It's really too hot for this kind of food but I bought the mushrooms and asparagus already, and we won't be home for dinner together for the next three nights.

I'll check back in later to see what everyone else is cooking on this hot day.

Okay, I give up! Can someone point me in the direction of Lauren's Famous Chicken Marinde?
Thanks

Morning all. Tonight is Scott's monthly Geek meeting so I am on my own tonight.

Okay, I give up! Can someone point me in the direction of Lauren's Famous Chicken Marinde?
Thanks

Here ya go:

Wing or Flank Steak Marinade

1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup dry white wine
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp ground ginger
3 tbs veg oil

Mix all together and marinate meat for at least 8 hours...overnight is better. Cook meat as you normally would. I like the wings started in the oven and finished on the grill.

Hi All! I'm feeling a bit better, but I'm medicated to the gills. I kind of feel like I'm on "tape delay" if you know what I mean. I'm sure it is all the medication, but if I seem kind of loopy, you'll know why.

It is crazy hot here, but I'm making kielbasa and cabbage tonight with a baked potato and onion casserole on the side. I wouldn't normally do that on such a hot evening, but DSD grew the cabbage herself for a school project and I need to use it now before we lose it. She would be really disappointed if her cabbage didn't get eaten.

I didn't cook at all last night. I left Kenny on babysitting detail and went to the movies with a friend. There is nothing like movie popcorn for dinner.

Hi everyone,

Liam has a game tonight, so Caili and I are eating at the field. I'm thinking curried chicken salad for me and ham and cheese for her.

I did make the cupcakes, but I did it first thing this morning when the house was still cool.

Thanks a million for the recipe:worship:.
DD has her last sports banquet tonight so won't be making it until tomorrow I will probably let it sit over night and have it on Thursday. Not sure what we are having tonight. Maybe ice Cream? It is supposed to be 97 and humid!

Hi my loopy friend... I sure hope you start feeling better soon. Do you have a recipe for the potato & onion casserole?

Well we have a change in dinner plans. Buddy thinks it is way too hot to ask anyone to work this afternoon so he put it off until Saturday. This is huge for him, he is a basket case this time of year and works in any weather.

Marisa is near Costco this afternoon so I will ask her to pick up decent steak and some chicken for her and I'll have that grilled. Or some chickens on soda cans, I don't know. And maybe some kind of roasted potato with a salad.

I have to complain a little. I priced out airfare a while back but we were not set on our dates. I checked back this morning and was shocked down to my socks! On the flight we generally take the fare jumped from just over $300 per person to close to $1500. Now I have not shopped around yet but will cancel this trip in a heartbeat if the fares for the travel times that are convenient for my family do not come down. There are only 5 seats left on this flight unless you count the preferred rows. How can tickets go up over 4 times the original amount so fast????????? My Ca tickets were only about $320.

Nancy, what airline is that?

WFD- I really don't know. Was going to have grilled turkey burgers but right now nothing sounds good. I just finished eating lunch and didn't eat all of it because I just don't feel like eating. Had to force myself to eat what I did because I was feeling faint from not eating anything. Didn't even have coffee today.

It may just be a combination of the weather and all I have to get done this week. :headache: It's the last week of school here and I will be in and out of the office the rest of the week.

Hi Y'all,

I haven't decided on dinner yet. Alexis was awake & talking in my face at 5:30 this morning! I was tired before the day started!

Hi All! I'm feeling a bit better, but I'm medicated to the gills.

Hope you feel better soon!!

I've been craving lamb chops, but couldn't find any nice ones in the stores. Enjoy your's!

Nancy, That's to go to Orlando??? :faint: That's insane prices!!!! Hope they come back down!

Gretchen- I hope that you feel better soon! This is not a good way to get through the day...loopy and near a stove.

I just checked Delta, we like them. Southwest has not posted flights for December yet. I will shop around but I am not going to pay more for airfare than the entire trip! Maybe as we get a little closer things will settle down and prices will level out. Now some airlines are charging for bags and others are talking about weighing people. I don't know how people will be able to travel if this is going to be the norm.

That is insanely high!:scared1: I've been waiting on Southwest to release the fares for November to book mine, but I looked at October's and I don't see much difference from last year which looks good!!
