The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

That sounds great!! Are you on the track alone or follow another car/driver? Aimee, that's pricey but considering what you're doing, the teaching time, etc. not really that bad. 119 must have been so cool! How did it feel?

They didn't get as much instruction as I thought they would. They immediately took us to the track, loaded us in vans, and we rode around the track twice getting tons of instructions. That was it! We were there 3 hours but 2 hours of that was people taking their driving turn then a "ceremony" at the end where we got our packet of stuff.

It was fairly easy but we didn't even climb into a car until it was our turn to take it for a spin. It's a 4 speed but very smooth taking off.

It doesn't feel like you're going that fast, really. It's a great adrenaline rush but it's over before you know it! I was white knuckling that wheel as it took a bit of strength to pull it around those corners.

You have to follow an instructor 3-4 car lengths behind - which is SO CLOSE when you're going that fast. Plus you're so far down into the car, and can't turn your head really, so it appears a lot closer than you really are.

Aimee, wow that looks really cool! I don't follow car racing but I think driving one of those babies would be really fun! You look so professional in that outfit!

We don't follow racing at all, I know nothing about Nascar (I thought Danica Patrick drove nascar, LOL!), but you're right - driving one is fun regardless.

I am thawing pork but haven't been to the store yet. DH is taking a firefighter exam for another city today and when he gets back, I'll hit the store and decide for sure.

Hey all quick evening check in...I am waiting for Ross to get out of the shower and say goodnight to him. I hope he can sleep tonight, he is so excited about math and science camp.
Karate went really well today considering he couldn't fight and his left arm was tight from the stitches in his chest.
He placed 4th in kata and tied for 4th in weapons. He was sore when we left that is for sure!

Lauren--Welcome home..get some rest, and then come give us a trip report. I hope A is better soon. When do you see his Dr?

Becky--I am in the minority here, as I can't stand pre made turkey burgers, but LOVE the 99%ff ground turkey that I make into patties myself. I do love a portabella burger too though. I can eat red meat at times, but it isn't a fav and I suffer through pork, I would much rather eat red meat then pork, I am always trying a new pork recipe in hopes I will love it. I would eat chicken or fish every night if Kris and Ross wouldn't threaten to leave, lol.

Aimee--Let us know how dh makes out with the FF tests.

Glynis--I hope whichever you pick to do tonight that you have a great time!
How are you feeling?

Nancy--Is everything Ok? You sounded sort of so-so in your post.

Kat--Is Kyle still coaching? Does he have any other summer plans going on? How is his "friend" doing?

I am sure I missed someone/thing.....will do better next time (or at least try to)
I doubt I will get on here tomorrow...we have to leave by 9am for Limestone which is 5hrs away to take Ross to camp and then get him set up, do the parent meetings/tour and then drive back. I am already missing my baby:(, it will be a long strange week that is for sure.
Have a great Sunday all!

Supper tonight was grab what you want as we went out to eat at a great pizza place on the way home from Saco, and Kris had to go put docks in when we got back.
Ross had oatmeal with maple sugar flakes from the farmers market, and I had what Kris would call a "yuppie" plate of cold chicken, cukes, raspberries, hummus and pita chips. Kris will eat good ole cookie crisp when he gets in, sugar cereal is his "tuna sandwich";)

DH passed the test today and is going onto the next stage with that city, too! =)

We also got word from our friends that they received extensive reference sheets in the mail today to complete about him from the other city - which is good news. It means they are still considering him.

I ended up grocery shopping and then driving through a local BBQ restaurant for take-out.

Tell your DH to hang in there it is a long process. I remember when my ex was testing for the sheriff dept. They did back ground checks and he even passed the psych test.:confused3 considering the answers he gave the shrink.

Lindsay How are you doing?

Tonight is a spaghetti dinner with the boy scouts.

Last night was fun. For a while we had some really bad winds and rain but luckily that was early and before most of my friends guests came.

Good Morning!

Gosh, I am still so tired from getting in the other day at 4 am...forgive me if I miss something along the way.

We all had an awesome time in WDW...Andrew too even though we had that trip to the ER/Urgent Care. He really does not have any pain or discomfort; thank God.

It was really one of our best trips to the World. We were relaxed and did not rush to do everything. We did the attractions that we like the best and it worked out well. It worked out well since it was very hot and we took afternoon breaks at the pool and cat napping. We also got a couple FPs in the AM for rides we could do in the PM. I am not sure if you guys know, but you can use FPs after your time aloted so this worked to our advantage. For instance, if the FP states 4:30 - 5:30...you can use it any time after 4:30...even after 5:30. Great right?

The new Toy Story ride is pretty neat! Andrew and I did this one night w/o Tom when we went back for out Rockin Roller Coaster Fast Passes (Tom was too tired).

We really loved having a car too. It is really easy to get around the world and no wait for the buses. I guess it came in handy since we had to take A to the dr. The only park this is not good for is MK since you have to go to the TTC first. On our MK day, we at breakfast at Kona and then hopped on the Monorail and took the boat back to the Poly. I asked a CM at check in if this was OK (to keep the car at the Poly) and he said it was fine since we had the parking pass. Some people on the DIS were telling me that this was not allowed, but I asked and it was. :)

Dining: As I mentioned, I canceled a few of out ressies. I really do not mind that we did this. There is always next time. We had really enjoyable dinners at Raglan and House of Blues, lunch at Olivia's and breakfast at Kona. We ate CS at the American pavillion (for my not so adventurous boys), Earl of Sandwich and had some Ghiradelli ice cream.

We ate offsite at Perkins (breakfast - their pancakes are awesome), Ruby Tuesday, Macaroni Grill, Lonestar Steakhouse and Kim Wu for Chinese (really really good Chinese food).

OKW: We all LOVE this resort. I am going to keep my eye out for a small resale here. It is just so relaxing and spacious. We were in the Turtle Pond section for the 2nd time and absolutely love it. Close to the buses, Hospitality House and the main pool and quiet pool. Its about a 10 minute walk to the H House.

We also rented a Pontoon boat which was fun. We took it out for about 50 min and cruised to the POR and DTD area. It was very relaxing.

La Nouba: If you haven't seen this show, try and do it on your next trip. It was awesome. I would love to go back someday.

OK, enough already from me, right? I will be trying to compile some of my food and drink pics into something and whatever I do, I will post the links. Please feel free to ask away! :)

OK, so now I need to catch up.

Janice, I am so excited for you! Have a wonderful trip!

Wendie, Tell Ross to have a blast at camp!

Aimee, Great news for DH! :cool1: Keeping my fingers crossed still. I tried that Oolong/Peach thing in China (I think I saw that you liked this on another thread...:thumbsup2 yum!)

Kat, I would love to find a good butcher around here...I don't think there are any. Only the kinds that will butcher a deer after hunting... I hope you all enjoyed your steaks.

Lindsay, Like others have said, try and not to think what your Dad does as a reflection on you. I know its hard but keep your head up and stay strong. I dealt with this with my ex and his escapades of gambling, etc. but quickly realized that what he did or does is not a reflection on me.

As far as Andrew, he is doing OK. He still has some paralysis but it did not get worse. He has no pain. The doctor told us that the only thing we needed to do is keep the eye moist and keep it clean (no wind or drafts dust...since his eye has lost the defense of blinking). We have not used a patch because when he sleeps, the eye closes all the way (yes, I was the worried Mom that slept at his side). He has also been using sun glasses and goggles for swimming. Thank you all for your concern.

We take him to the doctor tomorrow afternoon after my dreaded biopsies. :scared1: My dr did prescribe something for me so hopefull that will help.

OK, so now for dinner. It will only be Tom and I so I am going to put together a quick bolognese sauce and a tossed salad.

Have a great day all!

Here are some photos from yesterday. I made us pancakes for breakfast so of course I had to take a picture

Ann,
Happy Birthday to your Dad!!!

Kat--Is Kyle still coaching? Does he have any other summer plans going on? How is his "friend" doing?
Yes, he's still coaching ans playing for the Knights summer league(they played 6 games already this week since Thursday), it's been keeping him real busy. His "friend" is doing well, she's such a sweetie![/QUOTE]

Does anyone know how people dress at Kona? We have dinner on Tuesday. Do you think shorts are ok?

I have most of our bags packed just a few things left.

Lauren Have a good sleep tonight. I hope things go well and for Andrew too:hug:

I think with my new phone I can check in. These new modern things confuse me.:rolleyes1

Thanks! I am not good with phones, etc. Tom logged on to the Net from the OKW lobby with my cell (no wireless there yet)...I didn't even know that was possible.

Thanks, I really didn't want to change. 3x :thumbsup2

This is a crappy day. Sun for 10 minutes than rain for 20 repeat. If this happens in Florida of course I'll deal with it. I have outside stuff to do yet and I can't get to it. :headache:
