The All-New What's For Dinner Thread!!(recipe index in OP)

Sheryl -- I had an MRI a couple years ago and it was horrible. I was fine at first, but by the end, all the clicking and clacking and trying to keep still had me panicked. I don't think I could do it again. Hopefully, you won't have to either!

Caili didn't get her fish and chips. We had pasta instead because that is what I had in the house. She didn't seem too upset after she learned we wouldn't have to go to the store.

After the competition, we are going to this awesome ice cream stand that has the biggest sundaes I've every seen. I'm taking my camera just for all of you, so you can see what a Kimball's Special looks like. :thumbsup2

ETA: My posts keep ending up in the wrong place.

I hope Ross is feeling okay!

The experience was AWESOME!!! I was wrong on the price; it's $449 a person, which I think is ridiculous... even after doing it. You'd have to be a die hard Nascar fan to blow that much money on 8 laps.

Anyways, we were there 3 hours. You drive by yourself, I hit 119 miles per hour on my laps. DH hit 124. I am still wishing I had gone a little faster but there is no spedometer in the car so you have no idea until you get your stat sheet at the end. They have 8-10 cars out at a time and you follow an instructor (who wants you just 3-4 car lengths behind them which is SO CLOSE in that car). By the time I got to the last lap, I was finally comfortable with the car and track! Darnit. It was over too quickly.

DH's car pulling out of the pit (note: he did not take one picture of me actually driving on the track...)

Dinner? We had a big breakfast at Waffle House on the way out there today, then a late lunch at Cheddar's on the way home, so we'll just snack if we get hungry.

This is terrible it is making me dizzier than I already am. I thought the problems with the DIS were in the past :confused3

I just realized most of the desserts I am making for tomorrow are chocolate I hope everyone likes chocolate. I just finished the brownies and choc cupcakes. :faint: I think I done for tonight.

Oh we are having grilled burgers and fries with a salad.

Aimee - That must have been awesome, but I agree that's a hefty price. Lucky lady you are!!!!:thumbsup2

That sounds great!! Are you on the track alone or follow another car/driver? Aimee, that's pricey but considering what you're doing, the teaching time, etc. not really that bad. 119 must have been so cool! How did it feel?

I'm just finishing getting our clothes together for tomorrow. We'll take off early, so I hope everyone as a good weekend!!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes on the MRI's, it was really sort of scary & at the end I wanted to scream! The thing they put my head in was very strange & for some reason reminded me of that Hannibal Lector gear, and that really creeped me out.

Good morning everyone!

We went to a local meat market yesterday that's been in business forever but we'd never heard of it. It's a small Mom & Pop type place but OMG the beef looked amazing so I bought some filets and ribeyes. Dinner tonight will be grilled filets and caeser salad.:cool1:

Have a great day all!!

Lindsay... don't think that all of that reflects on you. You are not your Dad.

Aimee, wow that looks really cool! I don't follow car racing but I think driving one of those babies would be really fun! You look so professional in that outfit!

Here are some photos from yesterday. I go to the farmer's market on Fridays. Here is what I managed to purchase before a lightning storm blew in. I literally ran away I was so scared of the storm!

We had burgers last night. Here is John's:

By the way, John told me that this burger was a little overcooked. :confused3

I made myself a turkey burger but it was gag-tastic. I am done with turkey burgers, I just don't like them. From now on I will either have a veggie burger or an egg sandwich (which is what I ended u making myself last night).

I also made some slaw, regular, not the usual spicy one:

OK, so this leads to a story about my Mom. I think you guys know that they live next door. This makes it convenient if I run out of something in the kitchen, because I can always run over and borrow from them. Well yesterday I did not have enough mayonaisse to make the slaw so I ran next door. I was telling my Mom that I was going to make regular slaw, not the spicy one I usually do, and she mentioned that she uses Miracle Whip to make her slaw. She convinced me to give it a try and handed me the bottle. I was about to scoop some out when I noticed the expiration date: November 7, 2007!!! She insisted it was "still good," but needless to say I borrowed the regular mayo!

Final photo from last night: homemade fries tossed with herbs and parmesean...YUM:

I am making a big antipasto spread for today, my parents, Laura and the kids are coming over (I am making tacos for the kids).

SLOW COOKER QUESTION: I was going to make some sausages and put them with sauce in a slow cooker. I don't have or know how to use a slow cooker (I borrowed this one), so am looking for some advice. If I cook the sausages all the way through and then add them to the cooker with heated sauce on low heat, is that safe? For how many hours?

Thanks!

:) Hi everyone,

It feels like I have not been on in forever, I really need to catch up on everyone...HOPE ALL IS WELL!

I have to grocery shop today and maybe get DS a haircut. Tomorrow is my DF 80th. We are all going to my DB for a pool party, simple just burgers and hot dogs. My DM is making strawberry shortcakes and I am in charge of the birthday cake.

WFD- I am craving a nice steak with some mushrooms, but it depends what looks good at the store.

Ann

Good Morning!

Quick check in...gotta get A ready to go to his Dads and we are working on little sleep. We walked in the door at 4am. :scared1: We were 3 hrs delayed...our plane was still in NJ when we were supposed to board.

Sheryl, Hugs to you on the MRI. I have only been to one for my ankle and that was freaky...Have fun at the game!

Becky, You can keep the sausage on low/warm for several hours. It will be fine.

The food porn has been looking good ladies! :thumbsup2

I will be back later. Thanks for all the well wishes for my baby. He is still the same but at times looks a bit better.

Have a great day! Off to see if we can swing a F&W trip!!! :cool1: I will eat PB&Js till then if I have to!

Becky I just brown the sausages and then add to the sauce. You can leave them it the slow cooker on low several hours, maybe 4 1/2 since yours not cooking them all the way through first. I like my sausage flavor by the sauce and visa virsa.

I have a whole weekend of no cooking. :cool1: Today is my friends party and tomorrow a boy scout spaghetti dinner.

Do you make your own or do you buy frozen? I never liked turkey burgers until I bought frozen ones that I got from Costco. They are Jennie O and are pretty good.

We had burgers for dinner last night with lots of fruits and veggies. Tonight will probably be something out, I am thinking of going to the DC zoo with my nephew.

Last night's burgers were premade frozen ones from applegate farms. I've tried making them myself also. I just don't like them. I think it's just too much meatiness or something. I'd rather have a potobello mushroom "burger." I like the vegan boca burgers too.

OK, I have to get off the computer and start making dinner! Everyo9ne is going to show up and nothing will be ready.

Just stopping in to say Hi!
Wendie- Poor Ross  This has not been a good week for the boys. I hope that he is back to his karate soon. It is also good to hear the you Dad is coming back in August. This visit did both of you a world of good.

Lauren- Welcome home! Get some rest and then let us know all of the details. Did Andrew still enjoy the trip?

Merle- The only turkey burgers that I will eat are the ones from Costco. I stopped trying to make them, I did not like anything I made.

Janice- enjoy the party.

Kat- those meat markets are few and far between these days. Lucky you have one close by.

Ann- Happy Birthday to your Dad!

Aimee- What fun! I could have gotten into the thing but it would have taken a crane to get me back out:rolleyes1

Sheryl- I have never had to have an MRI and I hope that I never do. I am more than mildly claustrophobic so .......Let us know how the results went.

I know that I am missing someone, I am sorry.

Dinner is I don't know what. I did not take anything out and don't relaly feel like cooking so it is not promising today.

Tonight's dinner is up in the air. DH and I are thinking about taking the kids to Wall-E at the drive in tonight. If that's the case, we'll pick up some pizzas to eat there.

If Alan and I decide to do a date night by ourselves, the kids will have mac and cheese while Alan and I find a place.

As for the turkey burger question: I'm not much for turkey burgers, unless I flavor them with something, like teriyaki sauce, chutney, etc. I do like turkey burger in meatloafs, however. It is great in the pizza meatloaf cups.
