Wow- I guess I didn't realize that I got so lucky with my refill. But not doing it there is the STUPIDEST thing I have heard :confused3 A fountain drink is a fountain drink, so who cares if it comes from the Contempo or the Sand Bar...you still paid for the mug for use at the CR

I agree - during the day it would be a lot more convenient for guests in the garden wing too!

I have a question about the California Grille....if you eat dinner there at five o'clock, can you get back up later to watch Wishes at ten? We've booked the garden wing, but thought it might be fun to watch wishes from up there, but eating dinner past 8pm is too late for DD...I thought I read somewhere that you can present something to get back up the elevator if you ate there that evening???

Yes you can....however, the earliest ADR you can get is for 5:30pm. We do this all the time. Our favorite time to eat there is at 5:30pm then after dinner we head down to the concourse level and do some shopping and visiting, maybe ride around the monorail if we have enough time, then head back over to CG to watch Wishes. All you need to do is show the CG check-in desk your receipt and they will let you go back up the elevator. Have fun, watching Wishes up there is amazing :goodvibes

Thanks a bunch, this helps me make some dining decisions! I figure we'll watch Wishes from the observation deck most nights, one night over at the Poly beach, but have always wanted to see it from the CG :woohoo:

If you show a Cast Member your reciept from that evening at their 2nd floor check-in, you can go back to watch Wishes.

Do the tower theme park view rooms have small fridges?

How do I request "turn down service" - at check in? Is there an extra charge for this service?

Thank you!

All of the rooms at the CR have fridges (Thanks to Craig for the photo!):

Free turn-down is automatically done on the club-level floors (12 and 14) and should still be available to non-club level guests by requesting it at check-in. There is no extra charge.

Wow thanks WDWKOOK - appreciate the information.

Unless I am wrong isn't requesting turn down service on the none Club Level floors just like any other request, because it can only be done if they can find a housekeeper or something like that?

While turn-down service is automatic for all guests at the GF and for all club-level CR guests, non-club level guests at the CR may request it at check-in or by calling housekeeping. I suppose they might tell you to "go and turndown your own bed!" But you won't know unless you ask.

Years ago turndown service was pretty much standard at all Deluxe resort levels. But, over time, it's slowly disappearing from WDW, only to be found standard at club level, at the GF and by request.

When you say it was standard years ago at all the Deluxe Resorts exactly how many years was that if you can remember? In the late 1990's and early part of the 2000's we would have some non Club Level stays at the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge, however we never got turndown service.

I think I remember receiving those CR chocolates on our pillow the first time we stayed in the GW in 2002. We also had turndown in 2003 at the Poly and a year after that in the Tower. We never requested it and we weren't on club level. After probably 2004, I don't remember ever getting it anymore. We never had it at a moderate or at WL, either.

Well, I know at least one person who has already printed it:rolleyes1

Make that two!!

We also received turn down (non club level) at the GF in 2006, the Yacht Club in 2007 and possibly the BWI in 2008......I will check with DD when she gets home - she LOVES those chocolates.

Actually the Grand Floridian is the only resort where tunrdown service is automatically given to all guests, so over there you don't need to be staying Club Level.

That makes sense about the GF, but I do remember getting them at some of the other Deluxe resorts since then.

We called housekeeping and requested turn down last year and received it each night. We stayed in a wing. HTH!
