I could make enough to cover a term or two of school, and well, what I would have used to put towards school could then go towards the trip. Fuzzy Disney math in action, right there. Odd how it spills over and becomes Fuzzy Family Finances.

We just bought plane tickets for our summer trip (still working on the fuzzy financing). If I had a dollar for every hour I spent making the numbers add up and trying to shave off a few bucks here and there, I'd have another few trips under my belt.

So for those who care to know the details of how today went (and thank you for praying for me, by the way!!), here is the low-down:

I got a really disappointing score (82% on my first exam) which is far below my comfort level since we must pass the program with a 75% each term. Test 2 brought my overall score up with a 90% to an 86%. Today's exam netted me an 88%, bringing my overall score to a comfortable 86.6667%.

There is a chance of getting 3 total percentage points as "extra credit" added to our overall score at the END of the term, PROVIDED THAT WE ARE ALREADY PASSING AT OR ABOVE A 75%. So, the bottom line is that there is still a chance I can get an A, but only barely. I'd have to get an A on my next exam AND on my final. Both of which I did last term, but this term is proving to be much more difficult than last. More info, more difficult info, and MUCH harder test questions on it all.


Now, onto Cancer, Colorectal Cancer, Hypertension, Coronary Artery disease, Congenital Heart disease, and Heart Failure. Not nearly as exciting as Next Test's stuff... Materity and Fetal Dev.

Ouch your making my neck hurt just thinking about it and I have a cabinet full of meds for my tortocolisis. I completely understand the grade thing. I just finished my Masters and was calculating the entire time to stay above a certain grade point average lol My DH thought I was insane. Good luck

I actually had to look that one up... fascinating! But NO fun! Boo for painful conditions!

I think I may be a tad anal about tracking my progress, but it's also a HUGE motivator for me to keep doing better. I"m pretty competitive with myself. And yes, we have the "you don't need to study so hard" conversation all. The. TIME.

As the guy who couldn't walk normally for about a week because he threw his back out folding laundry a month ago... I feel your pain.

You know what they say... slow and steady wins the race. Except this feels more like tying weights to my legs and trying to walk from one end of the pool to the other. Without coming up for air. I want to plan park days. And DTD days. And snack schedules. Sigh... one ticket at a time.

there's a long way to go before you have to worry about park days.

I will be eligible after this year, June 10th to be exact, to take the LP NCLEX, which will make me able to work at that level of nursing. I am fairly certain that the company my daughter (MKBekka) works for as an LPN will hire me for a few nights a week as a temporary employee. I could make enough to cover a term or two of school, and well, what I would have used to put towards school could then go towards the trip. Fuzzy Disney math in action, right there. I decided early on at school that it won't be helpful for me to be too competitive, as there will be always someone better, not necessarily at each subject, but overall. And at home… except for PE… As I didn't want to be miserable I think I got a healthier relation to grades and exams as this other person

Sadly, that is very true. I wish I had the dough to buy the last park ticket, though. I heard prices are going up the price of a sundae at Ghiradellis this month.

Yes indeed! It'd be awesome to cover at least one term of classes (about $1,500). Maybe I'll find an ounce of gold in the attic, that'd be term #2.

All in all, I think that is some good news! An A would be nice, but passing is the most important part and it looks like you're in pretty good shape so far!

Passing would be WAY more than cool. And a solid B is awesome; gives me a less stressful remainder of the term.

I"m not super competitive with others much, just with myself. A lot. It would be so awesome to get a REALLY solid A on ONE of the tests this term for sure. But truly, I"m happy with the scores I have going into the next exam. (YOu wouldn't happened to be talking about your sweet sister would you?! )

Good luck with that!! I find selling stuff on eBay to be quite hard work with putting it up so that it looks good and then sending it off. But if you can get a good price for things, it certainly will be worth it!

Sounds great! But I had to laugh that you would of course work for something sensible like tuition, not for some unnecessary luxury like a Disney trip!!

To me it sounds like you are on a good way to a great score! Not knowing anything about the American grading system, where would the A start? At the moment it looks like you are comfortably distanced to 75 from your average, so I have a lot of confidence in you passing!!

It is a bit of work, but I"ve had pretty good luck. I like the pay for postage at home and just print the mailing label ahead of time option for sure! I just do it all from home, and then drop the pkg. off at the PO, and they don't make you stand in line to do that. The only hard part is finding packaging. But luckily when I was doing more EBaying, we had A TON of boxes and pkg'ing left over from the wedding gifts. So it was really quite easy.

Well, Mike says if I incur ANY debt whatsoever, that HAS to be paid before we go. Makes sense. So far, I haven't had to take any loans out, or borrow anywhere. So, I save what I can for tuition, and spend when I think we have enough that'd be left over for the tix. Those, I think are really the ONLY things I CAN pay for this far ahead of the trip.

The A is a 90-100%; B, 80-89% and a C75-79%. In most other places: C 70-79%; D60-69% and Failing anything below that. So yeah I think I"m set unless I REALLY blow the next couple of exams or the cumulative final. Which is possible. Although, I'm not going to change anything in the way I study. So I think I'll be ok.

Why thank you, GB!! I was happy to have gotten that test score following the most extremely stressful couple of weeks I've probably ever had. Except for the many we had living overseas.

Lots of homework... no getting around it. But we're going out with one of my nursing school friends and her hubby tonight for dinner and a band. Nice double date!

Yes, patients can be unreasonable for so many reasons- personality, stress of illness and anxiety. And we are having to learn to be professional and "nice" in all of those situations.

I think that's a good policy for kiddos... in general. There's a lot of "whiny" going on. But when they're truly sick, I'm the first to want to "make it all better.".

And using FDM, we often seem to find "just enough" to stay one more night.
