OK, here's my question....

I was looking at the transportation database on wdwinfo and plugged in a starting point of POFQ and ending point of GF. It shot back the route and a total time of 90 minutes to get there.

I am hoping this is not quite right and just being extremely conservative so I broke it down to the POFQ to the MK (30 min)and MK to the GF (20 min). As you can see the math just don't add up. :teacher:

Am I missing something here or do I really need to alot that much time using Disney trans??? A little help from previous POFQ people would be appreciated.

sorry i changed this as i didn't carefully read the first time...however going from pop after park closing did take us well over an hr many times...i think they are allowing for the 20 min between buses it seemed to usually take at dtd.

from the gf to dtd was one of the the longest bus waits we had as they make a lot of stops before hand. don't remember where we were coming from but going to the gf on the bus it took forever and they went to the cont. first and I think the poly too! holy moly! unless the driver was nuts cause we saw parts of wdw i never saw before...very yucky, looked like sewer treatment plant parts!

hope this wasn't already said but how long a walk from pofq to por? (as in boatwright's)

any comments on the food court ( value ect) thinking of using q/c for one night and maybe also going for a lunch..also how much is milk in case i break down and bring cereal for a cheapo breakfast?

thanks for the great thread..i was looking for just this info.

The walk is about 15 min at a stroll with a 2 yr old and 5 yr old mind you the 2 yr old was in a stroller

I think they throw in delays it never took me 90 min to get anywhere from POFQ I'd hop a bus to the Closest theme Park to that hotel and catch the next bus/monorail to the resort

I keep trying to make a reservation online and the WDW web site will not let me book POFQ!
Does it book up fast?
I have also noticed many posts where people could not get a room discount.
Any hints/tips?

Travelgoddess I've been scanning my memory banks about the food served in Scats. I think it's basic "bar food", but I do know they offer crab cakes, which were quite good!

imadisneyfanatic I haven't noticed that POFQ is hard to get into. It's almost always one of the options available when AP and other codes come out. For example, the recently released AP code for Oct-Dec had an $84 (or $86) dollar rate and was available for the dates I needed in October. I suggest you CALL to make your reservations. There is a rumor that a code will be released soon for 'everyone'. I think it is BAT....but look for the thread on this forum regarding fall codes.

Quick question, when I was at Disney in May my wife and I stopped by POFQ and we noticed an area in the main building that looks like it was or was going to be a sit down restaraunt, is this open? Also is there a lounge on the premises to hang out and have a few drinks besides the pool bar?

when we called last night for ap it was all booked but this morning we got an ap rate ( 79 plus tax )at pofq so keep trying, i think sometimes the bookings and cancellations do not keep pace with each other( ie I booked cbr since i couldn't get pofq then canceled cbr when i got fq but i think my canceled room would not show up right away as "vacant" to be rebooked at ap rates) it 's small so that may be why it fills quicker, maybe has less rooms available ( just a guess)

1. Has anyone been at POFQ in December. What do they do for the holidays? I have seen a picture of a tree but is anything else decorated?

2. Also, have they put in the free refrigerators yet?

3. Do they have a "preferred" building or set of rooms like the values? if so , where are they?

Thanks. i am thinking on this resort for a quick Christmas trip the 2nd week of dec with my DD5 and my non-disney DH so I really want to pick the right resort.:teeth:

I also tried several times over the course of a couple weeks to book a room at POFQ on the WDW website, and it kept offering the POR instead. I finally emailed WDW website and asked why the online reservations wouldn't offer up POFQ booking- I, too, thought maybe it was always booked (because I had tried for all different dates). They wrote me back and said that they had brought this to the attention of their website management team and would have the problem fixed "shortly". Well, that was about two weeks ago, and it looks like the problem is still there. I just gave up a few days ago, and called CRO and made my POFQ over the phone- no problem getting a room, and I was able to get a AAA discount, too. I advise that you call CRO if you want to make a POFQ reservation, and skip the website for now. It could be forever before it's fixed.

keith, there WAS a restaurant there.....sadly, not any more. But,yes there is a bar/lounge there (right next to the empty restaurant) for drinks and bar-type snacks. As a matter of fact, I had a really tasty dirty martini there ::yes:: The bar manager said they keep trying to convience Disney to re-open the restaurant, but no luck. The sit-down restaurant at POR, Boatwrights, is just a short walk away, and all of DTD is a boatride away. It's very relaxing to take the boat, pop into Earl of Sandwich and a boat ride back.....just can't be in a big hurry.

I have the same questions! Anyone?

You can hire a horse and cart at POFQ/POR. I am led to believe (one of the bus drivers told me) that over the Christmas season, this becomes a Santa sleigh with a reindeer.

Was able to get FL resident code discount. 3 nights for $291 (includes tax)!!!

Thanks y'all for the great responses.

I agree with the poster that was asking if they have "preferred rooms" like CBR which are close to bus/food court (looks like maybe building 5 is the way to go?)

If anyone has any info on that I would appreciate it.

Also, do they have elevators? My daughter has arthritis and can't go up a big flight of stairs. If they have elevators, are they all centrally located?

Thanks!:wave2:

Yes, they have elevators in each building. Can't remember if it's one set or two per building -- but you could try requesting a room near the elevators.

What dates did you get that rates for? Still trying to budget. I do not think I will be able to make my deposit until the end of Sept so I am hoping that there is availability by then for what I want. Dec 9-13.

After reading this Faq thread, I am now under the assumption
that there may be fridges in all the rooms. Is that correct?
Do we know when this may happen? We are not going till
May, and I was planning on getting a styrofoam cooler to keep milk and juices in.
And, does anyone know where the elevators are located? At the ends of the bldgs. or the middle? We will have a stroller. Thanks everyone !
