Boatwrights, is just a short walk away, and all of DTD is a boatride away. It's very relaxing to take the boat, pop into Earl of Sandwich and a boat ride back.....just can't be in a big hurry.

What do you mean that you "can't be in a big hurry"????

Does the boat ride take a long time to get to DTD??? We are planning a quick weekend trip in Dec and will spend quite a bit of time in DTD.

Is it quicker to go by bus or by boat?

What is the best (quickest) way to get to the WL and to AKL from POFQ???

I am assuming to go to AKL we would need to take the bus to AK and then another bus to AKL but I am not sure.

I am assuming to go to WL we would need to take the bus to MK and then the boat to WL but I am not sure if there is a quicker way. Perhaps the boat to DTD and then a bus to WL???

Thank you for all the help!!

Is it quicker to go by bus or by boat?

One of the evenings we had walked over to POR and from there decided to take the boat to DTD. There was a line and we had to wait for a second boat. Our boat was full and we passed up the people at FQ (where the boat normally would have stopped and picked up more people). They had actually 'sent for' another boat and it was arriving at FQ just after we had gone by. This was the only time in the 5 nights we were there that there was 'heavy traffic' on the docks. The actual ride from FQ to DTD I think was around 12-15 minutes.....a very relaxing ride. That same night coming back we had to wait for a second boat also. I wish my memory was clearer and could tell you for sure or not, but I suspect the night of the longer waits was a Fri or Sat. I never used the bus to go from the resort to DTD so I can't compare. I always think of the boat option as being slower than the bus just because the boat can only go so fast....so it seems more lesiurly to me and I like to use it to slow down from the more 'commando' moments!

O.K. I saw on another post that all the moderates are getting
fridges installed, and would probably be at least a 5 month process !!! I think I saw it under the Disney Resorts or Disney Rumers Forum. Real creamer in my coffee too !! And fresh juice and milk in the mornings!!! Hope it's true !!

Here's what I read about the fridges..............

Just got off the phone with "Mindy" at WDTC/CRO (shes a sweetie) and she told me that starting some time this August or September that all moderates and all deluxe resorts were going to be fitted with a mini-fridge. She also stated that it will take up to five months to complete the update. I asked if this was a rumor or fact and she said "fact" !!

The boat from POFQ to DTD usually did not take long. The only time that we got delays was during the dinner hour, because a lot of folks were heading either towards POR or DTD for dinner and getting ready for a night out. But for the most part they would try accomodate both resorts.

From DTD, the boat would stop at POFQ first and then head to POR, so when it was pretty busy, they would fill the boat half way at POFQ, then head over to POR the other half. If there was room left, then they would swing by POFQ once again before heading over to DTD. It can be a little longer, but the boat ride is so nice and relaxing that it didn't seem very long at all.

OH....now that I am talking about it...wish I was there right now!!!

:wave2:

Water View Question....

I thought I was an expert or semi-expert on POFQ, but I normally book standard rooms! We changed our reservation last night to a water view room for the holidays, just to be sure we won't get a parking lot view if it were really busy at the resort. If they were to assign us a river view, which buildings have the best river views? I thought maybe #5, but I'm not quite sure.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Amy

In answer the quickest way to get to a hotel from a hotel (not connected by Monorail or boat) is to take a bus to the theme park cloest to that resort than take a bus from there to the resort you want.

I am wondering if anyone knows about internet hookup at POFQ? We have a wireless hookup for our laptop, and my husband thinks he may have to checkin at work every once in a while. Does anyone know the cost of the service? Thankyou.

we're considering POFQ for a grand gathering in oct/nov/dec(??) of '05 and i have a few questions i did not see answered (even though i read the whole thread!)...

where in the parks' bus lineup are the POFQ bus stops? (i.e. at magic kingdom, pop century's bus is #18, the absolute farthest away from the gate)

also, i've seen a map of the resort (a few of them actually, and thank you to all of you who posted them!) and pics of the rooms (thanks again) but would love to get info/pics of the trundle bed... how big is it? will it fit a large child/small adult? do all rooms have them? do they charge extra to use them? we are a family of four, but will not fit comfortably in two double beds (dh is 6'4" and has to sleep diagonally!)

i saw this question asked, but do not recall reading an answer... are there "preferred" buildings that cost more (i.e. at cbr or pop there is an add'l $10 charge for certain buildings)? if so, which buildings?

last but not least... does anyone know when the food/wine festival is in 2005?

thanks again to all that put this great thread together... and thanks in advance for helping me w/my questions :)

i believe www.allearsnet.com has a picture of a trundle bed room...think they are only in alligator bayou so guessin gyou would need to request that when you call and explain why since i think it is usually to fit 5 ( they night not realize you need it otherwise). sorry don't know the dimesions but pretty sure dh would be a mite crowded in is:)

Love this thread. We will be staying at POFQ from Dec. 8-20, so I am glad to read everything on this thread. It has been 5 years since we stayed at POFQ last.

It is good to have the FAQ's threads, I wish someone would start one for the PR, its much easier to find all the info in spot, and it also alerts peoples attention that have been to that resort a little quicker.

Thanks for this thread - I have read it all the way through (took me all day - but that is because I am at work and only looking at it little by little)

Getting excited :Pinkbounc :bounce: about our trip to POFQ. We were originally scheduled to go to POR last weekend (Sept 24-27) but rescheduled due to low finances due to Hurricane Frances and what do you know Hurricane Jeanne decided to pay us a visit that weekend. My sister and I aren't going to reschedule again and are ready for some fun after all the stress :crazy2: we have been going through. Thankfully our houses were spared (minus some minor water damage) I am just ready for a weekend - it seems like these storms stole all of our weekends in Sept (the ones that didn't have storms we spent cleaning up!!) My niece princess: will be excited once we get there (I think they have been to WDW one 2 many times this year since they have Season Passes and were there in Aug, we went in the end of March, and I think they were there in Feb - not at POFQ. And I think I am the one who is the most excited!!)

POFQ here we come!! :Pinkbounc :jumping3: :bounce: :goodvibes

Can anyone tell me by bus how long it takes to get from POFQ to:

AK (Planning then to hop bus to AKL)

WL/CR (What is the quickest way?) Would assume bus to MK and then bus/boat to CR/WL??

Boadwalk (What is the quickest way?) Would assume bus to Epcot or MGM and then bus/boat??

DTD - know there is a boat, but is the bus faster??

We are only going to have a couple days (weekend trip) and we want to resort hop to check out Xmas decorations and shop.

Thank you all for any advice!

Staying at POFQ for our trip in April 2005. Stayed in April 2004 and many times before love the rehab. Stayed at Wl in Sept 2004 just got back and love them both but POFQ is still my favorite this is where I stayed when we were kids. I guess it is just special in my heart. KELLY
