Just back from POFQ. Check in was long. Only a few people working when we arrived.

We were assigned a room in building 1. The room didn't look like it was cleaned from the previous guests. It also smelled as if it had been smoked in or maybe the smokers clothing stunk and carried back to the room. Either way, it was back to the front desk to get it taken care of. We had to switch to another rooms in the same building. Once that was taken care of, we were all set.

The resort was okay, nothing special. It was a nice walk to everything though.

We had noisey neighbors for the first few nights but then they left which was a blessing.

The buses were very crowded, especially at closing. Sometimes having to wait through a few cycles of buses.

The food court was okay. Your typical food court fare.

All in all, I don't think I'll be back because I'd like to try other resorts first.

Sorry to hear you didn't like it. But they are so many choices at WDW resorts there should be something you like. Keep in mind that no matter what resort you stay at buses are always crowded at park closings. I will agree the food court is okay. But I don't really eat there. I have so many places I'd rather eat at that isn't an issue for me.

You might try CSR, if you want to stay at a moderate. It has many deluxe amenities.

We just booked POFQ on the bounce back offer from two weeks ago. This will be our first time in a mod. We leave Sept 08 so I am subscribing to get all the scoop on POFQ.

We just got back. Rooms were very clean. They took our room request to the letter (so they do listen when they can). Loved the boat to Downtown Disney. Check in was quick and easy (Sept 22 afternoon), and Airline Checkout even easier (Oct 1, 7AM). I know the airline checkout gets crowded in the late morning.

I only had 2 complaints which an otherwise perfect resort (This was our 3rd straight year at POFQ):

1) Bus Service was close to unacceptable this year. At one point, we waited 90 minutes for a bus to MK. And more often than not, 2 MK or Epcot buses would arrive 1 right behind the other; one would leave empty, and it would be another 60 minutes before 1 returned. We learned that going to 2 parks with a break during the day meant more than 4 hours of travel, so we stopped taking breaks. :( On occasion, the buses did arrive within the 20 min intervals, but it was 50/50.

Ask 3 bus drivers what time the first pickup is at POFQ, and you'll get three different answers. Ask a CM at the front desk, and you'll get a 4th. "6AM" the CM at the desk said. We had 8AM ADR at Poly so we got out there early. The FIRST Epcot Bus driver said the MK bus to POFQ starts at 7:10AM. The SECOND Epcot bus to pull in said the MK bus started at 7:30AM, the THIRD (3!!!) Epcot bus that pulled in said he didn't know.

We asked #3 for Epcot if he could radio in and find out. He said he didn't have any communication capabilities (AT ALL). I guess all those radios we always see them on are part of the Disney show. #2 ended up being right, and we got a bus by 7:30, and had to rush like all $#@! to get to Poly on the Monorail, but we made it.

Complaint #2:
Earl of Sandwich can move 300 people though a line before 1 person gets a order of Chicken Tenders at POFQ. We learned to go early, go late, or don't go at all. Go to 3 stations, and an average wait of 5-10 mintues a station, and you're standing around for 30 minutes for "fast food" Counter Service.

Tip for POFQ employees: I know you're concerned about food cost per serving but; if you see 15 people in line, and you only have 6 items on your menu, you can ASSUME that more than one will want Chicken Tenders. You don't need to wait until they order it to drop them in the fryer DURING THE LUNCH RUSH!

I can't tell you how many fryers went unused during busy times....

For about the same price as a CS, you can walk down to Boatwrights at POR, sit down at a TS, and still get back before CS people are done eating. Literally.

We learned to work around the poor CS Service, but the buses were a killer. Next trip, I'll seriously consider renting a car, and since I'm doing that, probably stay off site to offset the cost of the car.

Hmm... we had the same experience webshark. I thought maybe it was just my perception. Overall it was a great stay, but I also felt bus service was lacking. We waited longer for buses this trip than any other at all levels of resort. I don't know if it was just POFQ or all resorts though. Maybe bus service is going downhill in general? I also found the food court service to be extremely s..l..o..w. :confused3

Our room was very clean, our mousekeeper did a great job, left towel animals, arranged DD's plush toys, left extra towels, etc. We didn't exactly get our room requests, but very close, close enough that we were quite happy with our location. We loved the pool, the area was always clean, the lifeguards seemed good with the kids, there were always towels, etc.

ah yes, I forgot the animal towels and toy arrangements. Almost every day. My boys loved it. Mousekeepers get sooo creative.... :)

Sorry about your stay.

Wowzer, the last few reviews aren't good for a newcomer to POFQ. Is it really getting that bad?
Read these boards enough and you will find positive AND negative posts about every resort, restaurant & attraction at WDW. It's just the way it is. In MOST cases, it is not as bad or as good as people make it out to be.

I was one of those reviewers. ;)

Actually, my two complaints (that rambled on) were my ONLY two complaints. People tend not to talk about all the positives as much. I still love POFQ as a resort.

I forgot to mention that the place was old and filthy, the rooms were way too dark, the elevators was faulty, and there were long lines to check in. Oh wait, that was the Hollywood Hotel (Tower of Terror). LOL

Yes, overall our stay was very positive and we'd return. It wasn't ALL positive, but then no resort that I've tried yet has been. I think it helps to know the negatives and positives of the resort you choose. If you're expecting certain things going in -- like the waits at the food court, for example -- you can be prepared for those and they won't seem so negative. ;)

Since they changed the bus system last year a lot of their drivers quit. I'm sure at the rate they pay these people it's hard to find new ones. So I don't think it's resort specific. Also, room bookings are up. I've stayed at POFQ twice and have only eaten at the food court for one meal, and we're talking 6 days the each time.

Hi everyone -
We're going in November - actually arriving on the 10th which I think is the last day for Jersey week.

Couple of questions -
I got confused as to what buildings were the smoking buildings in the past - can someone answer that again?

I have a DD who likes cereal - me and my DH don't really eat much in the AM - we were thinking of taking some cereal and shelf-stable milk and using the fridge in the mornings....how do we get a bowl and spoon?

Has anyone been in November? How is the weather? Do we even need jackets?

Last one (I promise) - my mom is going with us - and we'd like to do 1 "nice" dinner as a couple while she stays with my DD....any suggestions - either DD or at another resort (we're not doing hoppers).

Thanks so much in advance - y'all are a wealth of info :cutie:

Has anyone used the laundry facilities at POFQ? What are the dryers like? Slow/fast? Hot/lukewarm? I am trying to decide if I should pack my cloth diapers or disposables while we are there. If the laundry situation is good, I think we may be CDing it this vacation!

We, too, checked in on September 22. No wait to check-in, but a few minutes after we checked in a Magical Express bus pulled up and lines piled up....so it just depends on your timing when checking in.
We only had a problem 2 times with bus service it wasn't a big deal. The bus only went to pick up Riverside on a few occasions which meant we went directly to the park!
The food court was very slow, but if you went early enough it wasn't too bad. We walked to Boatwrights on 2 mornings and breakfast was very good there.
We love FQ and this was our 5th stay there. Love the boatride to Downtown, the clip-clop in the evening of the carriage horse...just a beautiful resort.
We used the bounceback offer and are going again next Sept for free dining again!!

DH and I LOVED LOVED LOVED Narcoosees at the GF when we went in August. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was relaxed and not nearly as hectic as many restaurants. The restaurant was a smaller restaurant than most. If you like seafood this is a fantastic choice. I had the whole lobster and it comes split open and ready to eat. No mess. And it tasted like heaven! I dream of that meal!

I used the laundry facilities when we were there two weeks ago. I did one load during our stay while my dh and the kids were at the pool in the afternoon. The washer is a 30 minute cycle, and the dryers are a 30 minute cycle. I believe it is $2.00 for the washer & $2.00 for the dryer per cycle. I had a pretty large load and they were dry in one 30 minute cycle in the dryer so I would say that it was pretty fast.

We did book for 2008 at POFQ and was wondering what was the best location to request for a room. We booked standard and would like to be near the pool and ground floor if they have it. Do they have ground floor?

Also, we returned from POP on Sept 29th and decided we would not book there again for a while. The buses were excellent other then there was always a line, due to 2000 rooms booked, but they came frequently. The food court was horrible, between people and bad food, I would by pass it if I had to stay POP again. The room was great and clean. The people were a little rowdy and smoked where ever they liked. No one even stopped then. The pools were very crowded, but then again 2000 rooms were filled. We decided to bit the bullet and book moderate in 2008. I hope we will not be disappointed. I hope the bus service is better in 2008.

Is anyone here going to be there the last week of Nov? We toured the POFQ last trip and liked what we saw so we booked it for this trip. We stayed at CBR last time and thought it was too spread out. Can't wait!:thumbsup2

They do have a ground floor. We requested building 4 or 5, ground floor. We were put in building 5 on the 2nd floor, but our room was close to the stairs so it was fine. We thought it was a terrific location, very near the food court, not far from the bus stop, and right across the path from the hot tub. The laundry was also across the path with the pool just next to that. The boat dock was at the end of our 'street' and over just a bit.

We had great neighbors too! DISer thunderbird1 was just a handful of doors down, and TGMer dattlightner was in between us. :goodvibes

Next time I'd request building 5.

I did laundry, same experience as kimisabella. My laundry was completely dry after only one cycle, I was surprised as I was expecting it to take two. :thumbsup2
