Tennis skirts and workout attire

Found some pix today on my iPad. These are four of my skirts that I wore my last trip in October. They all have the shorts built in. None of the photos show my feet though. I wore white Keds or my black Rocket Dog sneakers, that have fuchsia laces and a bit of purple trim. I always have a scarf or a little sweater, especially if we are going to be out after dark and especially if we are going to Epcot. It's always been a little windy by the lagoon for Illuminations. I also tend to get cold with AC.

Thanks for sharing the pics--I was envisioning super short sport skirts as I read everyone's posts, but yours are a nice length. I'm developing a bit of a complex though--I'm now realizing that in my past trips I looked positively frumpy!!

Thank you, @MainMom , @Flynnismine and @jtowntoflorida :)

And yes, Jtowntoflorida, the golf skirts do tend to be a little longer. At least the ones I've found. I HATE my legs, and I tend to want to wear my skirts and dresses to just above the knee, like the yellow skirt. The black one and the grey one, are a tad shorter than the green one. If I'm honest, I am a little self conscious about showing that much leg. The running shorts I tried were even shorter and are too short for me. They are like mid thigh on me almost. You probably cannot tell there, but even though I'm short, I have long legs. (and no waist!!!! Which is why I leave my shirt untucked and longer to balance me out) So, petites and short skirts, do not really work on my legs.

This is exactly how I am, too! So where, exactly, did you get your golf skirts?

ETA; I just went back and re-read the thread. I see you get yours at Dick's. And I also discovered there is a Dick's on the way to the airport, where I have to go tomorrow. So...YAY! Hopefully I'll have more luck then.

Thanks. :) the running skirts I have come across where I live, were pretty short, at least for me. They do better on younger women, with toned and not bioluminescent legs. :rotfl2: I have cellulite and a bit of gravity going on around my knees. Oh well. :D The other thing about the running skirts, for me, is that they are super casual and athletic, obviously, and I tend to be a bit dressy even when I do casual. The golf skits can be dressed up a little, or down, too. I'm not an athletic girl at all. I just feel like I look silly and out of place in very athletic wear.

So I tried Kohl's today (because I had Kohl's cash to spend) and I'm not sure if I was looking at the right thing. I tried on a few things from the running section and they just seemed so short! I'll hit up Dick's next week (there's one down the road from my office). Are golf skirts longer than running skirts?

I bought two at Kohls today, a fuschia color and solid black. Cute little zippered pocket on one side. They were the Fila brand on sale for 30% off. They aren't super short at all, maybe a tad longer than mid thigh. They were the only one's I saw in the whole store.

Me too! I have the apple-bottom problem on top of being a shorty with no torso, so what comes to my knees in front can still be a little iffy in the back. Thanks for the golf skirt tip!

I lost my butt. No Apple bottom for me anymore... Lol I seem to have to wear belts on all my pants now. No butt there to keep them from falling off, slide right down while still buttoned and zippered. :-/

Yeah, those were the ones I tried. They were super short on me...definitely didn't hit me at mid-thigh. I even tried three different sizes to see if maybe it would get better if I went up a size, but no dice. They just don't work for me. Glad they worked for you...that sale on them today was awesome!

It's Florida. We in the south Florida wear work out clothing a bunch. It's breaths. It lets you sweat and does not show it. I'm at the gym all the time and when I'm going in I sweat like crazy. So it was only logical for me to wear some of my bras and pants to the parks.

I like to wear my galaxy pants on space ship earth and mission space, Epcot fun.

Where did you get your galaxy yoga pants? They are super cute!

I only take my Athleta clothes when I go to WDW in the summer. The best thing is I can actually pack in a very small bag and I don't have to take bras (the yoga tops have built in shelf bras). My Athleta favorites are the whatever and whenever skorts, pavitra yoga tops, and the athleta swim dresses. I stalk the Athleta sale site...their things go on sale all of the time. Ive also purchased the pavitra and skorts on eBay. I have those skorts in about 8 different colors. A plus too is that they're super easy to wash in the sink and dry very quickly.

I get the Athleta catalogs but have never ordered--think that will change after reading this thread so I can get some breathable, comfortable clothes for our trip! In your experience, do their clothes run true to size, or do they run large or small?

Good questions! ::yes:: I too am curious about the answers to them. :flower3:

I just bought 3 adorable sets of athletic skorts and matching tees at JCPenney - perfect for the parks. Their "Made For Life" brand had some fabulous stuff pre-Mother's Day. A lot of it sold out at our store and online that weekend, but still some great stuff available, and they were on sale for very reasonable amounts. I think I paid a total of $70 for 3 skorts with matching shirts. The shirts are even princess-seamed, so they aren't shapeless and dull. There were several shirt options for each set of skorts, from a sleeveless polo type to the fitted tees.

I'll be honest, I've been wearing hiking skorts and even just regular ones as my park attire of choice for years. And the advent of these dri-tek types is just icing on the cake.

I ended up picking up two golf skirts on sale at Dick's this morning. They're definitely more modest than the ones I saw at Kohl's yesterday, but still hit above the knee. Love them!

Yay! So glad you found something you liked. Hope you will find them comfy.

I think that it runs a bit large? I'm 5'3" and about 117 and I can wear an xs in the top and a 2 in the skorts. But the reviews on the athlete site are very detailed. I tend to order the things on there that have been reviewed by a lot of people so I know how they run. They have fantastic customer service though. You can even return things that you've worn if you don't like how they fit.
