Tennis skirts and workout attire

We are going in mid-August, and I was just telling my husband the other day that I am going to be wearing my workout gear (tanks and running shorts) as well as swimsuits with coverups over them everyday. Comfort is key and most gym clothes are really stylish anyway.

i plan on wearing mostly dresses because taking pictures is my favourite thing lol

I am a fan of the golf skort and golf shirt. They are lightweight and stretchy with material that wicks moisture, while still being "cute". I figure, if it works in a country club, it ought to be good enough for Disney World!

It's pretty much all I wear and it's great. I wear yoga capris more though because there's no chafing problems whatsoever and I generally think they look better than shorts. I never thought of wearing tennis skirts though! All I have are black and white so I guess I'd just wear black because I wouldn't trust myself in a park all day wearing white.

I have a white one as well. I thought maybe for an evening in WS or walking around DTD? Still deciding...

A resounding yes. Workout clothes wick moisture better and at least on me, look more put together than shorts and a tshirt or tank.

Runningskirts.com also has some cute things too. I have several of their skirts.

Hadn't thought of skorts, but I definitely had already made the decision to wear mostly fitness attire on our August trip. Super comfort, quick drying and some really cute stuff out there these days! Looks like we are all on the same page!

After last August's sweat-a-thon, I've made a new policy to only wear workout clothes on summer trips. I bought a skort from Athleta and some Target workout tops and they were my favorite things. I took to washing at night in the sink and they were dry by morning. The shorts under the skort did ride up a bit so I'll do more trying on ahead of time next time.

Last year, I wore mostly golf skirts. I am a dress and skirt kind of girl, to me they are so much more comfortable than pants or shorts. So, I decided to try the golf skirts, they have built in shorts for modesty, so there's no problem with getting in and out of rides, and they were cooler in the heat. Very comfortable. I think they look great, as well.

I wore "skorts" almost exclusively on my last trip to Orlando. I have them in many colors and styles and prefer them to shorts. There is usually a moisture wicking undershort with a cute skirt over the top. No danger of accidental flashes of underwear and I find them more flattering than shorts on my 58 year old, short body. See the trip report in my signature for pictures of various "skorts". I like the golf shop versions better than the tennis versions since I don't need a "ball pocket".

I LIVE in tennis/running/golf skirts in the summer, especially on vacation. They're quick to dry, and cool, and have the shorts built in underneath. I mean like seriously, I even wear them to work.

  • Columbia makes some cute wicking skorts. I wear those or running shorts with tanks everyday when we are WDW in the summer. I also bought my DD8 some super cute tennis skirts to wear next month. My DH and DS8 wear the UA golf shorts. My husband loves these. They have pockets and are not hot at all. We all have on running shorts/golf shorts in this picture.

Athleta and Title nine all carry these "running/athletic skirts" now more boy short underneath than the old fashioned tennis skirts with bloomers.

I just bought an Athleta running skirt that looks like denim, but it's not, at TJ Maxx for half of the regular price. It's super cute and comfortable!

i meant just normal sun dresses

I got that. Giving you another idea. :)

For those with shorts that ride up; if you're willing to spend a bit more money, skirtsports has running skirts that barely ride up. And if they still have the Happy Girl skirt, that's a bit longer in both skirt and short.

(I don't call them skorts...skorts from the 90s were skirts from the front and shorts from the back, not a skirt all the way around, and I just can't call a running skirt, or tennis skirt, a "skort"!)
