Tennis skirts and workout attire

When I see someone in a dri-fit/athletic skirt at WDW this summer, I am going to wonder if it is a DISer from this thread! :)
So true. I bought some stuff because of this thread. Can hardly wait to try it out.

Such a great topic! I LIVE in my Athleta "Wearabout" skorts when it's hot out. The built in shorts never ride up, and the Wearabout longer length hits right at the top of my knee. Really flattering, seamed A-line skirt.

I have reached the age where I really feel like shorts don't work for me, especially since so many of then have like a 1/2 inch inseam!!! I love skirts and even maxi skirts all summer. I just add a pair of Jockey mid length skimmers under all my maxi skirts/dresses, and I am a happy girl! Cool and comfortable. Most of my maxi skirts are from Target and Old Navy. Easy to buy a few each year because so inexpensive!

I will be in WDW in early July, and will be sporting a skirt every day! I didn't know that my fashion was so on point!

You look great! I don't think I've ever looked that nice in a theme park.

So I tried Kohl's today (because I had Kohl's cash to spend) and I'm not sure if I was looking at the right thing. I tried on a few things from the running section and they just seemed so short! I'll hit up Dick's next week (there's one down the road from my office). Are golf skirts longer than running skirts?
I found mine at kohls in the area by the Chaps clothing

I am so enjoying this thread! It reminds me of a "late night" conversation on the Universal board I had regarding "skorts". I will still call them that because that is how you find them on department store web sites. If that's what they call them, that's what I call them.

Count me in on the "went looking because of this thread" group, lol. I also HATE wearing shorts but now that I like in FL they are pretty essential. I was finding a lot of cute stuff online, but way out of my price range. I went out yesterday not expecting anything, but found two! One at TJ Maxx for $16, and the other at, of all places, Goodwill for $5! I'm already in love with them.

Where did you find the Jockey mid length? I see there are anti-static, wicking and short leg slipshorts.

Love the skorts at Kohls - have worn them for years, paired with a cami or tank to keep cool!

For our trip last September, I wore quite a few skorts from Target's activewear dept.--the C9 brand. When I wasn't wearing a skort, I wore Soybu sundresses (purchased via Amazon) with a sports bra and Jockey mid-thigh skimmer underneath. In my opinion these outfits were much more flattering, comfortable, and cool than shorts.

I think a lot of ladies wear Sparkle skirts..I have a Haunted mansion and a Minnie mouse one..they are fab..heres the wed site www.sparkleskirts.com they are based in Florida

Ok, I'm jumping on board this topic train mainly because I'm having major summer shorts burn out and would love to have something cooler for the summer. I do have a question, are most women wearing these tennis skirts/skorts with regular tennis shoes or some other type of fancier but comfortable shoes? I'm so severely fashion deficit when it comes to these types of things. I seriously couldn't put together a complete outfit of the rack if my life depended on it :sad2:
Summer in Florida - I don't spend one moment worrying about whether an outfit looks put together, only on comfort! I rarely wear anything but sandals in summer down here because it's HOT and it rains every day. I pretty much live in Birkenstocks, so that's what I wear with shorts, skirts, dresses, whatever.

We have a Jockey store in our local outlet mall. I get the "Skimmies" short length, and my legs are short enough that this size hits about mid-way down my thighs. I just use them to keep my legs from rubbing together, and actually bought a size up, not really looking for compression. That way they were a little longer.

Would anyone like to discuss theme park makeup as well? I go very, very light, but do need something. Usually it's Miracle Skin Transformer + powder with UD's DeSlick spray, UD Primer in Sin on my lids (to add just a bit of sparkle), and a little light eyeliner. That combination has worked well for me, even last August. Just wondering what works for everyone else.

My standard attire is a cute comfy mini dress or knee length dress or skirt with black or colored tights under. The tights can be Capri or knee. I NEVER wear shorts. Ew. Can't imagine sticking to all the seats where everyone had sat and stuck before. Plus whether I'm hot, sweaty, or damp from splash mtn, my tights keep me comfy walking and I never have to worry about my can sticking oit when I sit down or bend over because of the longer tunic style shirt or cute dress. Its comfy all ways around and always look nice in photos. Whoever invented denim shorts has clearly never walked or ran ten miles have damp at a theme park before....

And I have tennis skirts too. I find them perfectly modest but not quite long enough for my comfort level. (I end up tugging them down the whole time.)some of my dresses are bright and magic kingdom princess and black or pink or grey tights, and some are more geometric prints nice for animal kingdom, and some even have ballet tutu looking skirts while others are more rock n roll black and red. Lots of different looks. The comfy resort style cover up dresses work well for this too. But always with some comfy tights underneath.

If you are looking for these athletic skorts...Tennis skirts and running skirts tend to be short. As in mid thigh and above. Running skirts might have pockets for keys, credit cards and maybe even cell phones. If tennis skirts have pockets, they are upside down and meant to hold a tennis ball. Not really useful for anything else. Both of these skorts tend to be stretchy.

Golf skirts and hiking skorts tend to be a bit longer, say mid-thigh to just above the knee. These types of skorts are sometimes made of non-stretchy material, but almost always it's stuff that dries quickly. Golf skirts have pockets meant for score cards and balls, so a bit more useful for stuff. Hiking skirts have bigger pockets, I've even found some with cargo pockets. Golf skirts can be found at any large golf super store. Hiking skirts can be found at sports stores like Dicks, as well as adventure sports stores like REI and Bass Pro Shops.

I'm old and hideous without makeup. You know that Jenna Marbles video, how to trick people into thinking you are good looking? That's me. I wear a full face of quality products, as much of it waterproof as possible, and spray that sucker down with setting spray.

My primer of the month, usually something with radiance. Right now it's Laura Mercier. Have used Tom Ford and Lancome also;
Lancôme 24-hour Teint Idole;
Lancôme eye primer;
Lancôme shadow of choice;
Stila waterproof eyeliner;
Lancôme contouring blushes trio;
Powder of the month-Tom Ford or It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores recently;
It Cosmetics waterproof lash primer;
Lancôme waterproof mascara of some thickening variety;
Gel through the brows;
Urban Decay Allnighter setting spray, spray, spray
Rain, nor, sweat, nor tears, nor Kali River Rapids is getting through this combo until I take it off at night.

Oh, and for on-topic, I wear Athleta dresses and swim dresses every day in the parks with sneakers or sandals. I also wear a cardigan all day everyday because if it drops below 91 degrees, I'm gonna get a chill if the wind blows or if I step into any location with an air condition.

For actual swear proof waterproof "mermaid" make up, I've done several brands including Urban Decay. Nothing is as good as Sephora waterproof. I've had the same eyeliners and crayon shadows since 2012 and they still work!!!

Sunscreen. That's all I wear when I'll be outdoors for long periods down here. I'll also have a big hat and sunglasses on - I can't see any reason to even bother with makeup. But I wear very little to start, so YMMV.

Have to share my score!! I tried on Lady Hagen golf skorts at Dick's today. I couldn't make up my mind so came home. I ordered 2 skorts and 2 tops for just over $80, tax included and free shipping. All dri-fit type fabric. This was an online-only sale.

Totally planning on doing this on this coming trip! All the wicking clothes now are so much nicer to wear when it's hot, plus they dry fast if you get wet on a ride!
