Tennis skirts and workout attire

I got that. Giving you another idea. :)

For those with shorts that ride up; if you're willing to spend a bit more money, skirtsports has running skirts that barely ride up. And if they still have the Happy Girl skirt, that's a bit longer in both skirt and short.

(I don't call them skorts...skorts from the 90s were skirts from the front and shorts from the back, not a skirt all the way around, and I just can't call a running skirt, or tennis skirt, a "skort"!)
lol :p oh haha my current plan is to disbound the princesses with sundresses with spandex shorts underneith

When we spent the fourth of July week at WDW in 2013, I mostly wore running shorts and tank tops to the parks. Loved the moisture wicking and just being comfortable while dealing with the heat and crowds.

On a side note - my husband likes to play a little game called "Do you think those yoga pants have ever seen a yoga studio". Can also be played with gym clothes

Mine never have....until AFTER the trip. It's my excuse to buy new workout gear :)

It's nice to know that when I am thinking to myself "no one cares what I look like" that I am seemingly exceptionally wrong. Evidently, strangers are mocking me and having fun at my expense? I am not sure why it brings you joy to tease strangers-perhaps that is something to examine?

I wore a tennis skort and a top with the same material on our last trip in May. Worked out perfect!!! It dries quickly so it is good in the heat, getting caught in the rain, and on water rides. The material dries quickly as well. I highly suggest packing some for a trip to Disney!

Thank you for the skirt sports recommendation. Just checked their website and they look awesome-especially the promise that the shorties don't ride up!

Okay, you have all convinced me to do this! But we are heading there this weekend so I don't have time to order anything on-line. We live in Tampa. Anyone have any suggestions on where I can go to find some of these cute tennis skirts? I found ONE at Dillard's yesterday (by accident) when I was in was the Ralph Lauren section for something else but the only one they had in my size was white - it was really cute with the built in shorts, but the white made me nervous. They had black but they were all bigger sizes. What about the Lulu Lemon ones? Anyone have any opinions on those? Does Target carry anything like that? I'm starting to train to do the Princess run next year so running skirts wouldn't go to waste.

Do you have a Dick's Sporting goods or other sporting goods store by you? That's where I got my golf skirts and they had tennis skirts there, too. Also, a friend said she saw tennis skirts at Khol's. I saw running/active skirts at Sam's Club the other day.

I live in the south and have found over the last couple years that it is increasingly becoming the "mom wardrobe" around here. Yoga pants in the winter, capris in the spring, skorts/run shorts in the summer. I love the moisture wicking stuff from Athleta, especially. I live in their skorts & shelf-bra tops and their "swim dresses" in the summer. So comfortable and cool! I do exercise a lot, but I tend to keep my newer ones for wearing out and about and my older ones for exercising in. I worry that I haven't fully eliminated odors from the workout clothes. But to your original point, I think you should wear whatever is comfortable for you to Disney!

I have found some at TJ Maxx. Of course they are hit or miss, but you never know. Kohl's carries them. Just saw some there yesterday. They also have some cute yoga dresses that are very comfortable.

I'm not sure how successful this game would be anyway. The effects of yoga aren't usually very noticeable unless you're doing downward dog in public or something. Yoga doesn't make people thin or muscular. And if we want to go typical gym clothes, I'm sure most everyone knows that it's all about diets for losing weight. So that person could be in the gym every day and still eat crap at night and be perfectly happy haha. Sounds like a boring game, play cards at Disney instead or something.

Dick's usually has some. Target has them - but I've found that their legs ride up badly. I'm partial to Skirt Sports, myself, but lots of folks love Sparkle Skirts... which happens to be on your way to WDW. Might be worth a stop on the way! www.sparkleskirts.com

I had the impression the poster was saying her husband was playing that "game" because they are assuming that the vast majority of people who are wearing the yoga and workout attire at the theme parks purchased it SPECIFICALLY to wear to Disney and not because it was something they had in their closet because they use it for yoga or working out - it's actual intended purchase. I didn't get the feeling they were saying her husband was making fun of people because of their physical appearance. Take this thread for example, I'm the OP and I'm doing EXACTLY what the poster's husband is implying - I'm going to go purchase some workout clothing to wear that will never have been in a yoga studio or worked out in prior to being worn to WDW!

It's actually the reason my husband and I were so puzzled about the number of tennis skirts were saw last weekend. I actually wondered if there was some kind of tennis event going on and everyone had gone to MK directly afterward because I just KNEW there was no way THAT many people in the general population had suddenly taken up playing tennis. Now it makes perfect sense to me - the vast majority probably DON'T play tennis.

I went to the website but I couldn't find anything about a location - just ordering on-line. Where exactly is the store?

I absolutely love to wear my workout clothes there! I have a bunch of Lululemon running capris that have awesome ventilation and dry really easily, not to mention they are super comfortable to move in. At home my main type of exercise is lifting which I really can't do in Disney at a Value, so my basis this trip will be swimming some laps and of course all that walking! I love the tank tops I work out in too as they are very light weight and and breathable. I find I wear my workout clothes more than "normal" clothes like jeans and such all year round!

The elastic waists are also very nice for those days I have a few too many churros...:rolleyes1

This past weekend I noticed that a lot of women are wearing workout attire, especially tennis skirts (actual tennis skirts, not just very short skirts) in the theme parks. They looked really cute - they didn't look like they had just run 10 miles or something LOL!! Very put together, etc but not something I have ever considered before. Is this something new because it was literally everywhere. We usually aren't there when it is really hot and it was HOT so maybe that was it?

That's so funny that you would mention this today. I was just thinking about this topic. For marathon this January, my friend and I were Mouseketeers, and I ran in a navy blue golf skirt with the built-in shorts. I am starting to make lists for our summer trip and was just thinking how comfortable it would be to wear in the parks. Apparently I'm a "thing" without even knowing it! All settled: my golf skirt and I will be comfy in the parks!

Very likely they were wearing Sparkle Skirts. They are very popular with RunDisney groups and people wear them in the parks as well. They have lovely pockets that hold all sorts of stuff so no need to bring in an extra bag for stuff like a wallet or phone. People post their SparkleSkirt pictures in the parks on Facebook all the time.

Another vote for sparkle skirts. I am a runner, but I wear the "hiker" length as my main attire all summer. I just bought another 4 in a lager size for this summer since I have not lost much of the pregnancy weight yet. :sad2::sad1::sad: The pockets are great and they are so comfy!

I wear skorts from Athleta all the time in the parks, and in general! SO COMFORTABLE. I have worn nice running shorts in the parks too, but the skorts are more comfortable and look a little more put-together.

I have a Lululemon skort but I don't like it as much (the grip on the shorts underneath the Lulu skort is less comfortable/effective than Athleta). I am also picky about cut and the way the fabric drapes on skorts. There are a variety of skort options at Athleta, although they change them up often -- my favorite cut is not currently being sold.

I wear black skorts in the parks all the time, and the black fabric is fine! The material is so lightweight and the skorts are so breezy/comfortable/quick-drying, that the color doesn't matter. I prefer to wear a dark color or a pattern, and then I don't have to worry about sweat marks, spills or sitting in something!

Have fun at Disney!
