Tell me your thoughts about "The Secret"

I just have to post. I've been writing in my gratitude journal and visualizing that my dh takes me out for date night. Now, he doesn't do this. Never. Going out to dinner is getting take out....but I've been visualizing a lot! He called me and asked me if I'd like to go out to dinner tonight! I'm shocked, surprised and happy! Woohoo!
 
So, I am looking into getting some more books. I have read "The Secret," "A New Earth," and "The Power of Now."

I know a lot of people have mentioned Dyer, Chopra, and some others.

What books do you think are MUST-reads? :)

Could someone please explain the gratitude journal for me. I am assuming it is a notebook where you write down things you are grateful for. I have had one of those that I keep on and off through the years. I love looking back through it.

I enjoy this thread and have purchased the book and am renting the movie from netflix.

I have this book. Once I finish it, I'll just get a nice notebook. I just want something that has a hard cover so it doesn't get ruined:)

I write down what I'm grateful for now and what my intentions are everyday:)
 
I have decided to book a Disney trip. My DH gave his blessing by buying me that book. He knows how badly I want to go, especially with our DD. I want to squeeze in a trip before we decide to have another baby (my pregnancy with DD was awful and complicated, and the next one could be too, although I hope not).

And I know that if I book a trip, it makes it more real. Then, I am really going, intead of just pining about how I want to go. And what better way to powerfully intend it? :)

Now, we just have to decide when and how to get there! But, I love planning, so that won't be a problem!

I am so excited.

I have a journal type book that I use specifically for gratitude. At the end of each day just before bed I write down 5 things that I am grateful for. I then spent a few minutes in silent gratitude for the entire day.

Gratitude is one of the first things that we must do. You are more likely to attract more in your life if you are grateful for what you already have. We take so much for granted that often we miss blessings that have come into our lives. A gratitude journal allows you to put on paper what you are thankful for each day.

Every week or so I page through my journal and I am so amazed at how very much I am blessed!!

Some days I do so well- I feel good, I feel confident and happy and grateful. And then, every once in a while, I slip back into the "depressed and anxious me" role, and I need to learn how to break that pattern. And sometimes I'm just not sure what to do.

Yes, I have (and sometimes continue to) suffer from depression. I was prescribed wellbutrin, I don't like taking medicine (I can't remember to take it half the time), so I talked to my doctor and we cut back so that I am no longer on it. For me, its more of a seasonal thing, fall & winter. I feel for you, because a lot of people don't understand what its like.

I have a habit of doing this, too. I have a mental exercize that helps me. I acknowledge whatever "sucks" right now. Then I name at least 3 things that I am grateful for. For example, "Yes, my financial situation sucks right now, but I have a great running car that is paid for, I have a decent paying job, I have a nice home in a nice neighborhood."

This is in addition to writing in my gratitude journal every night. My "spirit guide" (organizer) helps too. I read thru some of the pages, reminding myself what has manifested, what is shaping up, and what messages the universe has been sending me.

Remember, you also have a support group right here on this thread.
 
I had heard and watched the Secret dvd several months ago and just couldn't wrap my mind around it. After staying up until 11:30 pm last night reading all the posts, I think I get it now. When I awoke this morning, even earlier than I normally do 5:10 am, I felt refreshed and somehow different. I even stopped by to grab a journal and still made it to work early! Thanks so much for the past posts, I already have my vision board, which needs updating. My DH :hug: has been telling me I need to think postive, but I just did not understand how or exactly why? Now I feel I am ready! I am going to my local library at lunch today to see what books I can find. I feel great today! I hope this finds you all well and I am sending out all good vibes to you! :grouphug:

Thank you. I have a feeling I will be around a lot! Something strange happened this morning. I forgot my yogurt in my van, so I went out to get it (I wasn't upset about forgetting it, I looked at it as a way to go back outside and enjoy a cool morning, which is unusual here in Aug). As I was crossing the street, a woman approached me looking upset. She asked if I could help her find an office building as she was late for an interview. I pointed the building out to her, she was almost there. I told her before you go in, take a deep breath and say out loud "I will have a great interview!" Her face changed, more calm and said Thanks. I don't know, but I have a feeling I was supposed to forget my yogurt this morning. :angel:

I think so, too. This is one of those marvelous synchronicities that Deepak Chopra and others talk about. You did a wonderful thing for her and I bet it was a wonderful thing for you, too!! :goodvibes

Of course you were!! And your Angels made sure you remembered at the correct moment so you would run into that woman. She needed assistance this morning and you were sent out there to help. And pass along the light inside of you as well.
And just think of all the times you may have needed a bit of help and, voila!, there it was waiting for you to take.
Paying it all forward is what its all about! And sometimes just offering a smile to someone works wonders too...

I have to share another story:

My daughter and her cousin (my niece) have had a falling out and my daughter wanted to invite her to her birthday party to make peace. My niece didn't show up and my daughter was so upset.

I wrote in my gratitude journal that I was thankful that my niece and my daughter found there way back to each other and that each would apologize for what they said to each other (girls are so brutal to each other sometimes!). Anyhow, they haven't spoken to each other since June. My niece instant messaged my daughter and apologized for not coming to her party and for what was said. My daughter did as well.

I know its a little thing, but I am so thankful that they found there way back each other....:)

When I read this quote, I immediately thought of this thread. Although I don't know any of you, I have shared some pretty personal moments with you and consider you my friends, my support group. I have learned so much from you all! I am becoming a better, more positive person. This thread and your posts have helped me to grow so quickly in a new and wonderful direction!
