Oh, all you springtime cynics, what with your regions skipping right over the season. I used to feel the same way about Fargo--one of the many reasons we moved!![]()
Hey! Grand Forks!!!! GO SIOUX!!!

Hey! Grand Forks!!!! GO SIOUX!!!![]()

Oh, no, not the Sioux! That would be Bison. Pronounce it with me BI-son.
You're front Grand Forks? Lived there? Worked there? Relatives? Small world! (Did a work stint of five or so years in Fargo.)
Air Force for a couple, stayed on. Winters s*#& but the people were great! Great Hockey too eh?
Will you be testing the effectiveness of the speedwork at the CPCC Skyline 5K? (Oh, and I've been meaning to ask. Have you been doing any performances lately?)
So, are you training for any events in between?
Is that your focus? Or dare I ask, including more XT into your schedule?

JenniferG: I know you're busy, busy, busy with making your DL 1/2 plans--and it seems like you're going to be one of the people who really make the WISH meet at DL rock! It's a little far off for training for that, though. I see you're back from Vegas and are back on track--that pun never gets old for me!
So, are you training for any events in between?

Okay, it's time to report mileage and time as we end March. I've bumped the reporting thread to make it easier to find.
And, to repeat, here are a couple of team questions:
1) What is your #1 goal for April?
2) Any new races to add to our calendar?
Richard: So, the local triathlon schedule is starting. I know you belong to a group. Do you have an event you're focused on? That is, after your trail run this weekend.

So, I opened up my gate (which separates the front yard driveway from the back yard so the dogs don't run off--or others come in!!) and walked out and as I was about to ask the men in the next driveway if they could move their car I noticed many vehicles, including 2 sheriff's department cars and that the men were deputies carrying assault rifles. They turned, ordered my hands in the air and asked me to identify myself! I responded "I'm the neighbor!" They then told me to go back in my house and I did. I was able to leave about a half hour later. Obviously, it was some sort of raid in my ordinary middle class neighborhood! The neighbor was only there about 2 months and was the type of guy who you knew was telling a story to sound good whenever you talked with him, but....

Jackie, is perhaps a different interval set-up your April goal? That is, if that's the way your Galloway group moves? Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask you. Is the pacing for a group based on overall pace, so the 12:00 group maintains a 12 mm? Or is that the run time? I was just thinking about how changing the intervals might change the group. Oh, and congratulations for signing up for the Richmond marathon! I've added it to the calendar, and I just know you're going to be able to go much faster since I won't be there to slow you down.![]()

hopefully April is a much better month for you. I think raising awareness about organ donation is a fabulous cause and a great way to honor Alli.
)
).
I hope your migraine is gone.

Corinna, I know that you did a fabulous job with your weight loss and maintenance while at Disney. Also saw that you and Maria have rejoined the newest BL competition. Is this your focus for April? Or are you more focused on upping your mileage?
But you gotta be healthy before you can get healthier, I guess.
Possibly quite a bit over an hour. If I could be under 1:15, that would be nice. I'm going to keep on with the Weight Watchers online. It seems like the two are working well together. I would like to earn the 20lb WISH clippie this month. Three pounds to go.
for the rough time you've had lately. What a wonderful idea to raise awareness of organ donation to honor Allison. Some people mistakenly refer to this race as the Lake Chabot Trail Half-Marathon. Those folks haven't run it. Because once you have, you'll agree with the race organizers that "challenge" is more accurate. The course is a very demanding, hilly loop with some technical ascents and descents.
(Hopefully in the location of your choice!)
You may want your ordinary life back--I would do--but I'd like to hear the follow-up. I also want to hear more about your plans for raising awareness of organ donation, as it gels. I've been on the list as a potential organ donor all my adult life, and think it's a wonderful thing.
Thanks for explaining the group intervals to me, although my pea-sized brain is still having trouble wrapping my head around things. However, what does occur to me is that the group dyamics part of running is very important to the Galloway running method (for groups, of course). So, ideally, you're all on board. And that makes me think that a functioning group, as yours sounds like, has an excellent chance of making their pace goals on a race if they run together. Good news for Richmond, eh? I'm so sorry about the toenail. That's definitely not something you want to repeat.
I'd like to finish in over an hour. Possibly quite a bit over an hour.

April Goals
- Christa: Speed, chasing placement in AG
- Corinna: Training for Groton 10K, WW online to hit the 20 lb. WISH clippie
- Debra: Stop watching the clock when I run and start watching my FORM
- Jackie: Core WOs, increase run intervals in SRs
- JenB: Improving diet, consistent speed w/o walk breaks or intervals
- JenniferG: Longer runs, more hills and strength training
- Julie: Include XT
- Richard: Raising awareness of organ donation? [DKP says, details forthcoming I hope.]
- ...and others pending, if you want to post them. I hope we'll all nudge each other into accountability and provide support!
So, what kind of XT do you like to do? Are you in the market for suggestions, new activities, etc.? Or maybe it's just that your preferred XT is outdoors and you haven't been able to do a lot outdoors. Hmmm, maybe this should be a mixer question... OH, and does going to Disney count as XT? There is all that possible pool time.![]()
Corinna:
I'm not sure why I knew you and Maria were both on board for BL again. I think I was thinking of joining it, then decided I couldn't track one more place. But I'd be happy to stalk any of you. I did lose 5 pounds in the last month, so you can track those. I'm going for 4 this month, but think this first week will be hard for various reasons.
I certainly hope you're over all the recent illness--I think might have you gotten hit by the norovirus. You should have time to train up for the Groton Road Race 10K, though. What are you going to be doing in that neck of the woods, assuming you're not traveling solely for the race?
After all, if I can lose a month of training and jump into the last month of half marathon training, 6 miles should be no problem. This is such a warped line of thinking, really! As for me: Not much today, folks. I've been a slug, working and running errands. Must do Pilates tonight and see what my cable Fitness channel has to offer. I refuse to do any exercises that promise to do something to my booty. I don't have one of those, although I'm willing to collect some pirate booty if you hand me a treasure map.![]()
Arr.
Anyway, I'm taking advantage of going directly to a meeting from home in a few minutes to make sure you guys know I'm still breathing...

Richard -- It's not stalking if you want to be contacted by the person who asks for your address. I believe that's a famous quote from a certain Captain...![]()

Are your friends running with your and/or spectating? The latter really would give me incentive to train hard. (Which is why I don't like people watching me.)
I can see why, though. It's so strange that you mention getting a physical. We're in the same boat, with similar timing. It's been years since mine, too.
(See below for update.)
Yep, that's how my toddlers feel about it too.
On the up side, I'm liking my new doctor. No lectures, no chiding, just a lot of tests. And I'll be back in the cycle of keeping track of my health problems, as I should be doing. Yay for me.

Oh, and I have I mentioned I'm terrified of needles. Just terrified. Just talking to them to warn them about my fear put tears in my eyes. Seriously, I have tears in my eyes now, just thinking about tomorrow. What a strange, warped baby I am. I guess a tattoo isn't in my near future, huh? I guess I'll have to put on my big-girl panties and "man up" for tomorrow's draw. Now, THERE's an image!![]()
