Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Hey! Grand Forks!!!! GO SIOUX!!! :lmao:

Oh, no, not the Sioux! That would be Bison. Pronounce it with me BI-son. :lmao:

You're from Grand Forks? Lived there? Worked there? Relatives? Small world! (Did a work stint of five or so years in Fargo.)

Air Force for a couple, stayed on. Winters s*#& but the people were great! Great Hockey too eh?

Air Force for a couple, stayed on. Winters s*#& but the people were great! Great Hockey too eh?

All about the hockey--but I moved there from Detroit, so I never lost my Red Wings fandom. I thought I knew something about winter until I moved to Fargo... I found out I'm weak. Weak, I tell you.

And I can't tell you how glad I am not to be there for the flooding.

Okay, it's time to report mileage and time as we end March. I've bumped the reporting thread to make it easier to find.

And, to repeat, here are a couple of team questions:
1) What is your #1 goal for April?
2) Any new races to add to our calendar?

Christa's working on SPEED. Or should I say getting speediER. :teeth: Will you be testing the effectiveness of the speedwork at the CPCC Skyline 5K? (Oh, and I've been meaning to ask. Have you been doing any performances lately?)

Mel, I know you're chasing a PR, winnowing away your intervals. Is that your focus for April? Maybe increasing time in the saddle for the dualthon? Or training with DD?

Consistency was your goal last month, Maria. Are you sticking with that, or moving to something different? Maybe increasing your yoga a bit or shifting up the routine?

Jackie, is perhaps a different interval set-up your April goal? That is, if that's the way your Galloway group moves? Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask you. Is the pacing for a group based on overall pace, so the 12:00 group maintains a 12 mm? Or is that the run time? I was just thinking about how changing the intervals might change the group. Oh, and congratulations for signing up for the Richmond marathon! I've added it to the calendar, and I just know you're going to be able to go much faster since I won't be there to slow you down. :thumbsup2

Corinna, I know that you did a fabulous job with your weight loss and maintenance while at Disney. Also saw that you and Maria have rejoined the newest BL competition. Is this your focus for April? Or are you more focused on upping your mileage?

JenB: I see you're thinking about Broad Street. Do you have an April training goal to help with this event? I know you're also interested in speed, so we've got a whole mini-group here who are doing that.

JenniferG: I know you're busy, busy, busy with making your DL 1/2 plans--and it seems like you're going to be one of the people who really make the WISH meet at DL rock! :thumbsup2 It's a little far off for training for that, though. I see you're back from Vegas and are back on track--that pun never gets old for me! :rotfl2: So, are you training for any events in between?

I know you've gotten a little speedier these days, Julie. :woohoo: Is that your focus? Or dare I ask, including more XT into your schedule? :rolleyes1

Richard: So, the local triathlon schedule is starting. I know you belong to a group. Do you have an event you're focused on? That is, after your trail run this weekend.

Jen: It's been a while since we heard from you, but I know you've managed to get some good XT in during the month of March. What will you be focused on for April. Besides posting here more, of course. :rotfl:

I know you're busy training for CMM, Jeanne, so that's your focus in April. How's your foot doing--are you concentrating on recovery/rehab or are you up to full-force training?

Nancy: I know your recovery has been quite speedy and that you're chomping at the bit to do more. That's because your regular activity level puts the rest of us to shame. :thumbsup2 But I assume you're still under doctor's orders to recover slowly and safely. So, what are your goals to ensure that? Hmmmm?

Kathy: I also assume you're focused on your CMM training in April. Are you working toward something specific--a time goal, intervals, etc.?

We haven't really heard much from you post-ESPN, Denny. I kind of assume that the racing season your way is winding down as it gets hot, hot, hot?! Are you training for another event, or maybe focusing on XT in your off-season?

Robert: It's always a toss up to ask you and Linda--races that you're focusing on for April? Or RD? Or, gulp, is there still a lot of PT and rehabbing in your lives?

Kerry: Were you able to commit to the Nutmeg State 1/2 marathon? We haven't heard from you in a while, so we're not sure where your training focus is. Please update!

Marcy: We haven't heard from you in a while, either, not since February. Last time I knew, you'd gotten a new TM. How's your training been going? I'm not even sure if you're interested in being on the team anymore, but we'd love to have you participate.

As for me: My number one goal for April is to stop watching the clock and start watching my form. I've got this really bad habit of watching the clock when I run, whether on the TM or outside. So my goal is to start paying more attention to my body and trying to get into an easy, natural rhythm instead of chasing a pace. (Of course, I hope it helps me get faster, but in a way that breaks me of bad habits.....)

Funny you should ask...just decided a couple days ago to add in a local Lake Chabot 1/2 marathon June 1. Met with PT today and got a program, which is a little rigorous for me, seeing I only really have 6 weeks and haven't been running much as of late. But I'm glad to have a shorter term goal as I was waffling a bit these last two months. So put me down for April goals of longer runs, more hills and strength training - or basically just making lots of progress towards June 1 trail 1/2 marathon. Also, I've decided to train for a marathon for beginning of 2010. I'd love for it to be WDW, but I just don't know if I can swing getting to Orlando in January, so it may be something local or even the Huntington Beach again. But I'm gonna go for it as a present to myself for my 40th! :woohoo:

Richard: So, the local triathlon schedule is starting. I know you belong to a group. Do you have an event you're focused on? That is, after your trail run this weekend.

I know, I have posted my times in a while, I' ll catch it up, I promise!!

April Goal - Probably just to get through the month!! See below for what happened to me this morning! :scared1:
Seriously, I'm trying to start something to honor the memory my daughter's friend Allison through raising awareness of organ donation. Only a slight idea where I am headed, though, and as yet I haven't told her parents.

New Races - CB&I Triathlon (The Woodlands) on May 9, Hog's Hunt 25K Trail Run on May 16 and San Antonio Rock n Roll Marathon on November 15. I'll fill in the gaps with other events later.

OK, since I led everyone on about this morning, I was preparing to leave my house at 630 this morning (still dark out) when I noticed a car parked across my driveway.:confused3 So, I opened up my gate (which separates the front yard driveway from the back yard so the dogs don't run off--or others come in!!) and walked out and as I was about to ask the men in the next driveway if they could move their car I noticed many vehicles, including 2 sheriff's department cars and that the men were deputies carrying assault rifles. They turned, ordered my hands in the air and asked me to identify myself! I responded "I'm the neighbor!" They then told me to go back in my house and I did. I was able to leave about a half hour later. Obviously, it was some sort of raid in my ordinary middle class neighborhood! The neighbor was only there about 2 months and was the type of guy who you knew was telling a story to sound good whenever you talked with him, but....
Maybe I'll find out someday soon what that was all about, but for now I just want my ordinary life back!!!!:headache::hug::scared:

In fairness to the sheriff's department, they did not actually aim in on me, and I think they did a fine job, as far as I could tell.

Actually, my April goal is to get the core workouts going again. Since I succeeded in March's goal of doing SOMETHING, now I need to work on the quality of what I'm doing. At the same time, I'm going to be trying to increase my run intervals on my shorter runs to make the long ones easier.

And ideally, the 12:00 group should run an overall 12:00 mile in a race situation. On a really long run, we aim for 2:00 slower. It all sounds like very advanced math even when Jeff himself explains it, but it works if you train with the group consistently.

As for slowing me down, I'm pretty sure you weren't the cause... :lmao:

Richard - Maybe March just isn't your month. Turn the page on the calendar at midnight, and we'll all cross our fingers that your ordinary life will return!

Julie - How's DD's wrist doing?

Maria - How are YOU doing? Baby steps...

Had planned to run after work today, but a nice little migraine came to visit around lunchtime, so I decided it probably needed a little attention, so I came home and took a nap instead.

And now, as I'm typing this, I've just discovered that I've lost the toenail on the other pinkie toe. What up? 2 toenails from the Disney full? Not fair!

Jackie

Jackie: Sorry about the toenails-- mine finally looks ok again, the lovely black color is almost all gone

Richard: Wow, what a morning :scared1: hopefully April is a much better month for you. I think raising awareness about organ donation is a fabulous cause and a great way to honor Alli.

Debra: We did go see Monsters vs Aliens and I'm dying to know which scene reminded you of us. My person favorite character was BOB-- gotta love him. We also cracked up at the "code Nemoy" showing our true geekdom.

As for me, my goals for April revolve mostly around improving my diet. The weight loss has stalled at a massive 1 pound, so I need to do a bit more on the diet front, unfortunately both DH and I just love to eat-- creates kind of a problem. We are trying to do more "dates" playing racquetball and fewer going out to eat. I do want to work a bit on speed but mostly on being able to maintain a consistent speed and not need to do walk breaks or intervals. I really want to feel I can run an entire race (although my definition of run is actually more of a steady, slow jog.... :confused3)

Hi cousins!

Debra - I'll bet that watching your form instead of the clock will bring great results. Plus, I think it takes a little pressure off if you're not worrying about time (or maybe that's just me :upsidedow).

Richard - That was quite an exciting morning you had the other day. My neighborhood seems so boring compared to yours. :scared1:

Jackie - Sorry about the toenails. Who knew they could fall off months after the marathon? :confused3 I hope your migraine is gone.

Maria - I heard it's going to be 60 degrees on Sunday. Maybe we will have Spring after all! :goodvibes

As for me, my goal for April is (Debra, can you guess?) to do more cross training. And by "more" cross training, I really mean "any" cross training. I am terrible at making time for any exercise other than running. :sad2:

DD's wrist is healing well. We have to go back in two weeks for more x-rays. There's a chance that she might have a short cast or a splint by the time we go to WDW, so that's good.

Hello to Corinna, Jeanne, Mel, Jen G, Jen B, and all of the other cousins!

So How's the weight loss going for those of us striving in that direction?

For me, it's 5lbs for March. 17 since January 1.

With JenB, that's 6 pounds for Ohana in March so far!

Corinna, I know that you did a fabulous job with your weight loss and maintenance while at Disney. Also saw that you and Maria have rejoined the newest BL competition. Is this your focus for April? Or are you more focused on upping your mileage?

D.K., are you stalking us on the BL???

I must confess, my mileage for March has been incredibly low, so increasing it is not going to be that hard! That fever-cough illness really knocked me out for about 3 weeks. I did get a few runs in before I had stopped coughing, but it seemed to make it worse, so I skipped a bunch. :sad2: But you gotta be healthy before you can get healthier, I guess.

April: I have a race at the end of the month, so once again, gotta get the training in. Groton Road Race 10K. I'd like to finish in over an hour. :lmao: Possibly quite a bit over an hour. If I could be under 1:15, that would be nice. I'm going to keep on with the Weight Watchers online. It seems like the two are working well together. I would like to earn the 20lb WISH clippie this month. Three pounds to go. :thumbsup2 Apparently I can't choose a #1 focus or goal.

Richard - that is the craziest story from the other morning. Very unsettling, at the least. Glad you were able to get out a little later, at least. Also sending  for the rough time you've had lately. What a wonderful idea to raise awareness of organ donation to honor Allison.

Julie - Yikes! A broken wrist? I have missed a lot lately, it seems. hope she feels better soon.

Jackie - sorry about your migraine and toenails. Sounds like a nap was the way to go. What kind of core work do you like to do?

April Goals
  • Christa: Speed, chasing placement in AG
  • Corinna: Training for Groton 10K, WW online to hit the 20 lb. WISH clippie
  • Debra: Stop watching the clock when I run and start watching my FORM
  • Jackie: Core WOs, increase run intervals in SRs
  • JenB: Improving diet, consistent speed w/o walk breaks or intervals
  • JenniferG: Longer runs, more hills and strength training
  • Julie: Include XT
  • Richard: Raising awareness of organ donation? [DKP says, details forthcoming I hope.]
  • ...and others pending, if you want to post them. I hope we'll all nudge each other into accountability and provide support! :thumbsup2

JenniferG: Holy Shamoley! I just looked up your race online, to get the location for the calendar. Wow--you've definitely picked out a challenge. You and your PT are go-getters you are! For those who'd never heard of the event--I hadn't--here's an excerpt from Runner's World:

Some people mistakenly refer to this race as the Lake Chabot Trail Half-Marathon. Those folks haven't run it. Because once you have, you'll agree with the race organizers that "challenge" is more accurate. The course is a very demanding, hilly loop with some technical ascents and descents.

Then it goes on to talk about how beautiful the course is, so I can easily see why you've chosen to do it. And a marathon to celebrate your 40th birthday? Everyone should do it! :woohoo: (Hopefully in the location of your choice!)

Richard: If you hadn't posted your assault-rifle-toting police officer story yesterday, I would have accused you of an April Fool's Day joke. :scared1: You may want your ordinary life back--I would do--but I'd like to hear the follow-up. I also want to hear more about your plans for raising awareness of organ donation, as it gels. I've been on the list as a potential organ donor all my adult life, and think it's a wonderful thing. :goodvibes
(A slight funny: I originally wrote, "I've been an organ donor all my life," then realized I haven't learned to regenerate my body parts...yet.)

Jackie: Ah, the dreaded core workouts. They make such a difference, and I'm still far too sporadic with them. :sad2: Thanks for explaining the group intervals to me, although my pea-sized brain is still having trouble wrapping my head around things. However, what does occur to me is that the group dyamics part of running is very important to the Galloway running method (for groups, of course). So, ideally, you're all on board. And that makes me think that a functioning group, as yours sounds like, has an excellent chance of making their pace goals on a race if they run together. Good news for Richmond, eh? I'm so sorry about the toenail. That's definitely not something you want to repeat.

JenB: I don't want to give too much away about Monsters vs. Aliens, but there's that sequence with Dr. Cockroach and an activity you and DH really enjoy. I laughed out loud, mostly because it reminded me of you! (Affectionately!) Your goals for April will fit nicely into your not-so-evil master plan for the DL 1/2 and January. (Mwa ha ha? Must still be thinking about evil aliens and mad scientists!)

Julie: Thanks for the encouragement on form-watching. I hope it works--there are so many ways I'm a numbers person (logging time, mileage, calories) that I'd like to be more in the moment, as it were. Or at least more focused on how I feel using RPE, etc. So, what kind of XT do you like to do? Are you in the market for suggestions, new activities, etc.? Or maybe it's just that your preferred XT is outdoors and you haven't been able to do a lot outdoors. Hmmm, maybe this should be a mixer question... OH, and does going to Disney count as XT? There is all that possible pool time.

Corinna:
I'd like to finish in over an hour. Possibly quite a bit over an hour.
:rotfl2:

I'm not sure why I knew you and Maria were both on board for BL again. I think I was thinking of joining it, then decided I couldn't track one more place. But I'd be happy to stalk any of you. I did lose 5 pounds in the last month, so you can track those. I'm going for 4 this month, but think this first week will be hard for various reasons.

I certainly hope you're over all the recent illness--I think might have you gotten hit by the norovirus. You should have time to train up for the Groton Road Race 10K, though. What are you going to be doing in that neck of the woods, assuming you're not traveling solely for the race?

As for me: Not much today, folks. I've been a slug, working and running errands. Must do Pilates tonight and see what my cable Fitness channel has to offer. I refuse to do any exercises that promise to do something to my booty. I don't have one of those, although I'm willing to collect some pirate booty if you hand me a treasure map. pirate:

We sound like a hardcore bunch, with our goals and all! Thanks for compiling them, Debra!

So, what kind of XT do you like to do? Are you in the market for suggestions, new activities, etc.? There is all that possible pool time.
:thumbsup2 Perfect mixer question. And also a highly relevant question regarding Disney. I had my Gowear Fit (pedometer, calorie counter extrordinaire) on during most of my time at WDW - then got a blister and had to stop wearing it for a few days) and am wondering - there are thousands of steps and hours of moderate activity logged on there. I would think if "chasing hotties" counts, that probably counts for something, too, right? Should I add it in to my March numbers? Which are pathetic enough in the first place....

Oh, but here is a cool thing - my legs and feet never complained once at Disney. Everyone else in the family who wasn't riding in a stroller for most of the day had complaints, I'm afraid, but my feet and legs were like "bring it!"

Corinna: :rotfl2:

I'm not sure why I knew you and Maria were both on board for BL again. I think I was thinking of joining it, then decided I couldn't track one more place. But I'd be happy to stalk any of you. So that's 11 'Ohana pounds in March! Woo hoo!

I certainly hope you're over all the recent illness--I think might have you gotten hit by the norovirus. You should have time to train up for the Groton Road Race 10K, though. What are you going to be doing in that neck of the woods, assuming you're not traveling solely for the race?

I really am going mostly for the race. It's another of my "dream races" which I am learning better than to have. Cause it seems like I always end up shafted in the training department. However, besides running, I'm staying with a couple of friends from high school. We're going to hang out, hopefully meet up with some other friends. That sort of thing. I agree, it is not really a question of finishing the race at this point, but I would like to finish STRONG. :) After all, if I can lose a month of training and jump into the last month of half marathon training, 6 miles should be no problem. This is such a warped line of thinking, really!

As for me: Not much today, folks. I've been a slug, working and running errands. Must do Pilates tonight and see what my cable Fitness channel has to offer. Debra - I'll post details of my idea when they have taken shape. I never thought of posting an April Fool's Day joke, but I wish my last 11 days were a joke. As far as yesterday morning goes click here for the news story.
Of course, now any of you suitably determined has a good chance of tracking me down. Then again if you really wanted, I'd give you the address. (Right, Debra?)

Julie - My neighborhood usually is boring!

Who would have guessed that April Fool's Day would have been the best day of my week?!
Oh!!! I got to meet Laura Wilkinson today (gold medal x 2 Olympic diver) and she seems to be the most genuine person I have ever met for someone famous. I'll post about it later after I get the pictures of me and her from a friend of mine. (This is definitely NOT an April Fool's joke either!!)

Aloha cousins....long time, no chat. I've tried to keep up with the reading, but it seems everytime I would go to respond, something would happen and pull me away from the computer.
Add me to the list of those in a funk lately. My foot seems to hurt all the time and I just can't motivate myself to get the mileage in. I did 4.4 miles on a treadmill last week and it was ridiculous. Have you ever tried doing a treadmill when your limping? It was like tha-thump,tha-thump,tha-thump the entire time. I did manage to go slightly below a 15-minute average pace, but it was UGLY! The doctor says I have pretty significant arthritis and multiple bone spurs which are on the top of my foot over the arch. It's not the sort of thing that would improve much with surgery so basically I just have to live with it. He did recommend that I definitely continue all the race-walking because it is actually helping the arthritis. He gave me a prescription for a topical NSAID and also a patch that is supposed to work for 12 hours. I'm going to try it the next time I attempt a long walk.
One of the things I've done recently is to try to get all my ducks in a row, medically speaking. I had been very bad about taking care of my own health issues, but thanks to some prodding from Nancy, I've been scheduling all my necessary screenings. I'm embarrassed to say it had been 3 years since my last physical and at my age, that just isn't good. The bad news is that even with all this activity, I've gained 6 pounds in 3 years. I've got some fasting bloodwork scheduled for next Tuesday so maybe this time the thyroid tests will give us some answers. I also have a mammo scheduled for Monday. I dread the thought of putting "the girls" in a vise, but it's gotta be done.
In addition to all the health checks, I finally got my gait analysed and my feet fitted for running shoes. It turns out the ones I have been using (Mizuno Wave Riders) are not at all bad for me. I really had no complaints about their comfort, but was finding that they wear out very quickly. So now I'm in a Saucony Ride. It was either that or a Nike Pegasus. I liked the look of the Nike much better, but my feet said to go with the other. The store has a 30-day guarantee, so I really want to give them a good try-out.
I've got the CMM coming up in a little over 3 weeks and am really looking forward to that one. There are going to be lots and lots of WISHers attending, many of them at the same hotel we'll be at. It's gonna be a blast. Best of all, Lent will be over and I can PAR-TEE!
That's it for now.....I'm gonna go post my activity. Thanks to cross-training, the mileage looks alot more impressive than it really is.
Richard/Maria: extra hugs to you two for having such a miserable month. Wishing you brighter days ahead.
Deb: OK, so now I have to go see Monsters vs. Aliens this weekend. I guess I have to look for the wasted cougar....:rotfl:

Debra: thanks, I had temporarily forgotten about that scene

I ran 6 miles yesterday and have lapsed into slug mode today. Work has been awful this week-- 2 of our docs have been off (one unexpectedly to be with his own sick mom) so we the remaining few have been swamped. Today I seemed to get every kid who was screaming, kicking, or having some emotional crisis. I fully admit to my stress eating tendencies and gave in tonight with a few baked lays sour cream and cheddar chips and a diet coke for dinner. Now when I should be heading down to the TM I'm instead going to bed and hoping tomorrow is better...

Aloha, Cousins!

This is a mini-quickie post. Like JenB I am totally swamped with work this week. Don't they know this is my DIS time?! :lmao: Anyway, I'm taking advantage of going directly to a meeting from home in a few minutes to make sure you guys know I'm still breathing...

This has been an odd week. I was working out hard at the beginning, haven't done much yesterday or yet today. I'm eating better, but my scale is headed in the wrong direction. Let's just say I'm not looking forward to my BL7.1 weigh-in tomorrow, I think I'm going to let my Purple Teammate Corinna down.

JenB -- I hope today is much better for you!

Jeanne -- April is a new month, you have new shoes, and we are all going to do better! :thumbsup2 I think once things actually start to warm a bit, we will all feel better.

Richard -- It's not stalking if you want to be contacted by the person who asks for your address. I believe that's a famous quote from a certain Captain...:rolleyes1

Corinna -- Fabulous weight loss for March, and in the BL7 Challenge! You are rockin' it! :woohoo:

Debra -- Your going to make me do goals, aren't you? I'll submit them later when I have more time. I did work out 19/31 days in March. If you add in one rest day/week, it's 19/27, so for me that was fairly consistent. I'm shooting for a better record in April.

Ok, I really have to leave the house now. I'm sorry, and I'll be back to chat with those I missed -- Julie, Jackie, Mel, Christa, Denny, Robert, Linda, Jen, JenG, Nancy, Kathy, Marcy, Kerry, etc. -- but it may be this weekend :scared1:

Maria :upsidedow

Richard -- It's not stalking if you want to be contacted by the person who asks for your address. I believe that's a famous quote from a certain Captain...:rolleyes1

Yes, Maria, I do believe I remember that one, although I never meant to apply it to myself.;)

Check in on the miles/minutes thread folks, if you haven't already done so!

Corinna: That's great news, that all your running and working out means you were better able to enjoy Disney. I think that's a testament to fitness, right there. Want to have more fun at Disney? Become an endurance athlete! You better watch that warped thinking, though, you don't want to accidentally challenge yourself by undertraining for the Groton. Not that you will, of course, but doing so is another way of finishing strong. Of course, sometimes it's followed by nausea and pain....:rotfl2: Are your friends running with your and/or spectating? The latter really would give me incentive to train hard. (Which is why I don't like people watching me.)

Richard: Ooooh, so your neighborhood has its own little John Dillinger wanna-be? How very...strange. (And yes, I came up with John Dillinger because of my desire to see Public Enemies, with Johnny Depp, this summer. I'm such a movie geek.) Congratulations on meeting Laura Wilkinson. How did that come about. I know, I know, story pending. But what a great way to start April! :thumbsup2

Jeanne: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear about your ongoing foot issues. I know several people with bone spurs and I have to say that you are, by far, the most athletic of them all. I think your racing says wonders about your strength and determination, so I'm so sorry to hear you're in a funk. I can see why, though. It's so strange that you mention getting a physical. We're in the same boat, with similar timing. It's been years since mine, too. :scared1: (See below for update.)

I'm glad you got a gait analysis. Anything to make the CMM and other LWs more comfortable with you. Seeing other WISHers and partying, like a wasted cougar of course, is just what the doctor ordered. (Or should have.)

One more thing: Putting "the girls" in a vise. :rotfl2: Yep, that's how my toddlers feel about it too.

JenB: Oh, I should say I thought of you in several scenes, just that one was sparked by a recent conversation here. I also thought you must have enjoyed all the scenes with the President in the conference room, because I figure you're a fan of the movie it riffs on. I don't know why, just think you and DH enjoy that kind of thing. (I do!)

I hope today was better for you than yesterday. It sounds like an incredibly stressful time at work. But I have to note that you put in 6 miles in the middle of the week. That's good--dancing banana good!

Maria: You know it's because I love you that I'm asking you--and everyone--to set goals, right? (I pick on you all because I love you? Where have I heard that before? Oh, right. 3rd grade.) Remember, each day you're making progress with the eating and working out. The scale will follow.

As for me (cross-posted from the Lean Meaner thread, sorry): I got my run and pilates in before my doctor's appointment with the new family practice. Evil fitness gods are punishing me for not going regularly. I walked in for a preventative health-care exam. I walked out with an appointment for a blood draw tomorrow (7 tests) and a new tetanus shot, a gyn appointment next month, and a battery of tests yet to be scheduled: mammogram, CT and chest X-ray, and an ultrasound of my thyroid. I expected everything except the last one; they're not sure what it is, maybe a nodule. :sad2: On the up side, I'm liking my new doctor. No lectures, no chiding, just a lot of tests. And I'll be back in the cycle of keeping track of my health problems, as I should be doing. Yay for me.

Oh, and I have I mentioned I'm terrified of needles. Just terrified. Just talking to them to warn them about my fear put tears in my eyes. Seriously, I have tears in my eyes now, just thinking about tomorrow. What a strange, warped baby I am. I guess a tattoo isn't in my near future, huh? I guess I'll have to put on my big-girl panties and "man up" for tomorrow's draw. Now, THERE's an image! :rotfl:

If you haven't got your health, you haven't got anything. If you want to fly down south for the blood draw, I'll be happy to do some hand-holding, plus the weather's great here right now. However, I could have done without the mental image there. ;)
I'll get you the details on the Laura Wilkinson meeting when I have the photos of it.
