Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Better late than never, right? Hi! I'm Liz, and this is my first BL challenge.

Wekcome to team ::MickeyMo Liz!

She was my first video instructor and she's great for anybody getting back in the game, but after 2 weeks I wanted to throw the remote at her. Loved the workout but hated the perkiness and the expressions on the group working out behind her. The editing also annoyed me and after week 3 when i had it down cold I muted her and turned on a random CD to move with. This kept me going until i finally maxed out on how far i could go with that 1 and got a stability ball:lmao:

No more Leslie for me. And if you think she's perky just watch Denise whatshername. OH BOY! Does she turn the sun on:rotfl:

Anything except math for weight loss please:thumbsup2

I've heard of her but never did any of her DVDs before. Your not the first person who said she can get to be annoying after awhile :rotfl:

No, math please! :)

Oh I am the same way as your parents...I. Love. Salt!!! I salt EVERYTHING! Ok confession time...I even salt canned soup. :rolleyes1I know that's terrible! I try so hard to cut down, but I haven't been successful yet.

I hardly ever salt anything. I have a friend who is a lot like you. She salts EVERYTHING.

Ugh, I'm struggling today. I've not logged my food, because it is logged in my head LOL. I had to fast for a dr's appointment this morning. I'm telling yall.. I know I'm fat and I know I'm turning 40 this year, but does that really mean that i have to literally start falling apart? I have thyroid issues and my levels are off, so she gave me a med adjustment. I'm also anemic, but she thinks that after a month of supplements I'll feel better.

But here is the kicker.. I finally took the time to write down all of my concerns, complaints, etc.. that I have had for the last few months. She feels that i have an inflammatory disease and is checking me for lupus. She thinks that what I was earlier diagnosed with as Rosacea is actually a lupus rash because she saw it flair up right in front of her.

So, I go back in a couple of weeks for my blood work results.

I've not not felt good all day long, so I ate some homemade potato soup and that is it for the day. I might go back and eat a little yogurt here in a little while, but for now.. I'm keeping it light.

Take it from someone who has health problems probably as long as your arm. Having a doctor that listens to your concerns and complaints is a wonderful thing to have. I had a doctor shortly after josh and Maddie died who was a complete nutcase.

I have blood clots in my lungs and at one point my whole left leg was clotted off. They are assuming this happened due to the accident. (Head on collision I had to be pulled out of the car with jaws of life). So anyway, I hadn't had a period in FOREVER. So her solution? "Oh let's put you on BIRTH CONTROL". Um, hello moron if you put me on birth control you might as well sign my death certificate right now. So yes needless to say I changed doctors that same day.

Kristina: Love, love, love your binder! Thanks for sharing!

I used to walk a mile or more around my living room, kitchen, and dining room. Sometimes I’d walk to wherever my mom was and talk to her while walking in place. My parents thought it was hysterical. I was losing weight so I let them think whatever they wanted. :cool2: [/QUOTE}

Thanks! I love it. Its a great tool to use :)

Yeah, I normally go outside or the treadmill but with it getting colder here in FL (Wow, didn't think that actually happens here, JK) I didn't want to do either. So walking around the house it was! Yes, I even did the walking in place at the kitchen counter while Alan was talking to me. He just looked at me, laughed, and kept doing what he was doing.
Hey Mickeys! Hey Mickeys! smickey:

Posting the QOTD and will be back tomorrow for some more replies.

This is a shameless copying from what sparkpeople.com does on Facebook but it is a lot of fun. :cool2:

It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did today to help you with your goals. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Yesterday, I logged all my food, drank all my water, and got TWO workouts in. :)

Hello Team!
I have been reading our Team Mickey thread and am finally getting around to introducing myself. I'll go through the questions of the day.

Welcome to Team ::MickeyMo

Well I am so ready for this day to be over. Just been one thing after another gone wrong.

I hope today is better for you LTS

Hi all! I'm Noni or just MHL. I tried a BL and did ok a few yrs ago.

Welcome to team ::MickeyMo

-----------------------------------------

Okay, well after writing my late night post last night I attempted to go to bed. I stayed up watching NCIS DVR'ed episodes. Then as I was getting ready to drift off to sleep I started having flashbacks. Flashes of when I was in the hospital, picking their casket out, the funeral, days after being released from the hospital and struggling at home, etc. Needless to say I cried myself to sleep. I didn't wake up til noon and I had Alan make me some breakfast.

I'm realizing I picked the wrong month to try to get myself back onto a normal sleep schedule. I'm not going to worry about it and try to get through these next few weeks.

I'm going to hold off on calling the doctor a few days. I haven't taken my blood thinner in a few days because I'm trying to stretch it out. I'm going to take it for a few days to get my levels evened out and then call and make an apt.

We're having chili tonight for dinner which will use the last package of ground hamburger in the house. So, I see a grocery trip in the next few days. I got on the scale this morning and I'm down 1.6 pounds so far this week.

Well, I'm off to get a few things done. I shall return...

It's Woo Hoo Wednesday! Give yourself a big "woo hoo" for helping yourself to be healthy and share something that you did today to help you with your goals.

Today when I got up to get my dad off to the airport at 4:30 am, I stayed up and went right to the TM for 4M. I may be sound asleep for "Modern Family", but I got my last short run for the week in! :thumbsup2

Maria :upsidedow

Its taking me some time to figure this all out... but I will answer today's Question of the Day!

Today I've stayed under calories for Breakfast and Lunch! And I'm going to walk the dog next!

That being said... I've done pretty horrible the other 3 days of this challenge :sad1: I've attempted to drink the water and count calories, but I've not done very well. Got the exercise in one day. Have journaled nothing. Ugh. Yesterday I was doing fairly well, with calories, then DH came home with some unsettling news... and I ate a peanut butter cup, a whole bunch of red hots and the rest of the green beans in the pot!

But today is a new day and I CAN do this!

I am so proud of all of you that are drinking water, exercising, journaling!!!! Good for you!!! Keep up the good work Team Mickey!!! :cheer2:

Sorry I haven't been around much. Haven't been feeling so great the last few days and the length of this thread is kind of overwhelming!

I haven't been doing so hot with the healthy eating and exercise. But for Whoo Hoo Wednesday, I did go see my psychiatrist for a check up this morning and we both feel I'm mentally in a good place. :thumbsup2 Mom and I are going out to eat at Red Lobster later, and we're also going to Cracker Barrel at some point this week (never been). :rolleyes1

My new suitcase set arrived this morning so I can finally start packing because there are only SIX days left until I leave! :cool2:

so did i eat a cupcake? did i? did i??

NOPE!

woo-hoo for me! :woohoo:

and seriously? one of the moms literally put the cupcake up to my nose and said, "oh, just smell it. it's too good to pass up." are you kidding me??!!

NSV or WHAT??

WAY TO GO!

And can I just say how much it ticks me off when someone basically tries to force feed you??!!! Offer once and if someone turns it down a) don't take it personally and b) LET IT GO!

TO WHOEVER POSTED ABOUT THE SALAD IN THE JAR SITE: Sorry, don't have time to go back and find the post but OMG :worship: I love you for posting that site!!! Going to order the attachment for my Food Saver today and pick up some jars. Our local thrift store has tons of them for about 25 cents each. I was just lamenting this weekend how I would love to be able to cut up my lettuce all at one time and keep it fresh. And I like it very small so I prefer to cut it, not tear which doesn't keep at all. I can't stand the bagged salads-- they have a funny chemical taste to them that makes me gag.

DH was actually really excited about the concept because we use the Food Saver with the bags for a ton of stuff. He said we can save money by putting a lot of it in the jars instead.

Everyone have a great day full of healthy choices!:cheer2:

Luv luv luv my Foodsaver with the canning jars! Such a simple idea that enables me to have a salad everyday. Otherwise, it is too much work. And like you, the bagged salad has that gross smell that I could never wash away.
Make sure you get the wide mouth jars, along with the wide mouth sealer. We love the jars so much we have them in all sizes from half pint to the huge half gallon jars and use them for all different things from salad to leftovers and storing dry goods.

Thanks!! We were debating which size of the sealer to get and DH said to just get both. I think the wide mouth would be so much easier to use but DH thinks we may also have a need for smaller jars that are not wide mouthed for other things.

OK, here real quick check in b4 cleaning the kitchen since Dh is walking Onslow.

Had a bear of a day at work and a hard time with my cold this morning. Both got better in the afternoon but I swear I wanna quit this job. Hopefully. the efforts i am making with my AVON will pay off sooner rather than later.

And speaking of AVON I did see a fellow REP check in here somewhere.

Also i looked up the AVON Walk for Breast Cancer the other night and sent for info. IF i do it i gotta raise $1800:scared1: AND walk somewhere around a marathon and half over 2 days. AY CARUMBA. I haven't even done a half marathon yet, which I've been wanting to but the bank acct. has not been cooperating with.

Decisions decisions:rolleyes1

Back later, and maybe I'll catch up with the posts:rotfl2:

lol, your DH sounds like mine, he loves gadgets and comes up with all kinds of reasons why we need all of them plus their accessories. :lmao:

Ok I haven't been very productive today. I've logged all my food and am on my last 16 ounes of water. I still need to do my Biggest Loser workout. I talked with a friend for a few hours that I hadn't talked to in awhile. Hoping to be more productive tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Our cafeteria doesn't serve food except for vending machines. Bringing my own food is the only way to stay on track and accountable.

Lunch is packed and ready to go for tomorrow.
2 eggs with cheese for breakfast.
A container of sliced cucumber in apple cider vinegar for a snack
Roasted chicken and cauliflower potatoes for lunch.

I have to get back to the gym soon. It's so hard after work, but I need to do this for me. :thumbsup2

Have a great evening team Mickey :grouphug:

Disney Wedding: I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that. Hopefully you won't have to in awhile.

LovetoScrap: I don't have that problem with needles. My mom is a microbiologist, so I grew up in labs and watching her play with blood and needles.

Finally got the test done, it took another hour and I was late to work. I'm a little PO'd, but it's dones and hopefull I'll get the results soon.

QOTD: I brought my Jenny foods and logged everything. I went to my consultation and weighed in. I am down 2 lbs! :cool1: I am getting ready to take down my Christmas tree. If I still have energy after that, I might try to do some Just Dance. Hopefully I can make it through at least 3 or 4 songs without coughing horribly.

Sorry about posting again so soon. I was just watching the Biggest Loser and happened to glance on the wall in my living room. I have two photos of when I performed for the Mouse, and watching the stories of the former athletes, it really hit home that I am like them. I look at those pictures and I think about the girl that used to dance in the parades and shows in 100+ degree heat in those costumes, and I don't know where she went. I can't even get through one song on Just Dance on the freaking Wii. I was looking at old photos on Facebook. I remember thinking how I felt fat at the time (I was at the top end of healthy weight) and now I look and wish I could be that skinny again. I still have those clothes and am nowhere near fitting in.

My husband and I want to move to Florida. In the summers we work at a local theme park, he is a supervisor and I am a lead. I have convinced him that he would enjoy working for the Mouse. And I realized, I couldn't do it now. I couldn't do the job I love because I let my weight get in the way. I'm going to print out more copies of those pictures. I'm going to put them on my mirror, on my pantry, on my fridge, in my classroom. Anywhere I might be tempted to fall back into old habits. I want to perform again so bad, and it will not happen until I lose the weight. The first pic is a different one that shows my face that i will use, the second one is one that is on my wall:

Sounds like some great choices! :thumbsup2 And great that you are planning ahead. I think that is really the key to making most eating plans work.

Glad you got it done.

Something most people don't know about me-- I worked for Jenny Craig. It was eons and eons ago, must be more than 16 years since it was prekids. I was only a receptionist-- the one that took your food order, packaged it, took the money and helped schedule appointments. I got to wear a cool lab coat and felt so official! Of course I also got discounts which helped a lot since I was on the program. Right before I quit working there I bought a lifetime membership. Of course I have no idea where the card or any of the paper work would be now. Not even sure they actually honor a lifetime membership from that long ago! ;)

The funny thing is that I had looked into a Women's only gym (this was preCurves days) that was in the same shopping center. I couldn't afford the membership so of course didn't join. A few weeks later the manager that had given me the tour and tried to get me to join called and offered me a job! She said they needed a receptionist and since I couldn't afford the gym she thought I might be interested in the job, and the perk of using the gym for free. I actually laughed at her and said do you remember what I look like? I am not really the body image you want sitting at the front desk of your gym! :lmao: She was really nice but I was subbing at the time so I turned the job down since I could only work nights and weekends and was doing that at JC-- she needed mostly daytime help anyway. Really glad I did because less than a year later everyone showed up to work and the doors were locked. The company shut down overnight-- employees didn't get paid, members lost their money, it was a big to do.

The greatest story I saw when I was at JC was woman that came in for her regular consult in her gym leotard (told you it was a LOOOOONG time ago-- spandex was still king!). This woman was fit and toned and definitely had you scratching your head wondering why she would be there. After she left my co worker took me over to a photo wall of success stories and showed me her before and after photos The success was amazing. She was probably around 300 before. She didn't even look like the same person. It was really inspirational and definitely had you thinking that if she could do that anyone could.

(Did I mention that I like to talk a lot when I post? :teeth:)

Anyway, having a very on program day so far. Was on my feet most of the day putting away Christmas stuff. Going to hit the couch for the rest of the night, my back and hip are killing me.

LTS-I love hearing success stories! If I were 300 lbs and lost a ton of weight I'm pretty sure I would wear a leotard all the time!

Kristina -

Gretchen - omg do NOT go to cracker barrel! That food is way too good! Ok I don't even know if it's that good but I've been there on road trips and always loved them!!

********

Super pumped to report that I went to a step/weight class. Feels so good to be back. I will be sore tomorrow!

:welcome: to all our new teammates!

I enjoyed reading all the woo hoos today -- everyone is doing great! :woohoo:

My woo hoo for today is that I was at the gym at 5 am again and had my workout done right off the bat. That is working great for an early bird like me! :goodvibes

I am going to continue with the No Excuses theme for the QOTD for tomorrow.

Here is an excerpt from a great article about exercise excuses from sparkpeople.com (no I could not coach a challenge without sparkpeople ;))

We all know how important exercise is to our health. We all know we should be doing it, but we allow ourselves “outs” with what we consider justifiable excuses. You can excuse yourself out of anything if you keep listening to yourself long enough. You can let those rationalizations make sense if you try. But I have come to a personal conclusion, a motto of sorts: I will do what I need to do, in order to do what I want to do.

Here is the link to the entire article if you are interested: http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_articles.asp?id=1021

QOTD Thursday, 1/5/12 What exercise excuse do you use most often?
I don't have time
I'm too tired
It's too difficult for me
It's boring
I don't want people to see me
I don't know what I'm doing
All of the above
I don't make any of these excuses

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to do any replies today. Thank you to all of you who have! :flower3: I'll be back tomorrow with replies. Have a great evening!
