The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Owners & Lovers Group - 3.0

But why are they calling it a “refresh.” No. This was an overdue hard goods refurbishment.

Again, super happy it’s happening and they are being somewhat transparent …. But why did AKV get all new countertops when we got resealed ones? I don’t think my appliances were new.

We stayed at VGC for 3 nights last week and had a wonderful time. It was our first stay there. I booked this room about 3-4 months prior to our stay and it was a wheelchair accessible studio. We did not need that, but it was the only room available. Thought I'd share some pictures. The wood surface below the TV was a little tacky, as others in different rooms have reported. The shower head was fine-- not new, but not gross either. I don't know if you can tell from the shower picture, but the shower head is quite low and does not go higher than about 5'4". Lucky for me, I'm below that height, so it was fine for me, but my husband is 6' and wasn't happy with the shower. The room is pretty dim with low wattage yellow-ish lightbulbs. That may not come across well in the photos, but the lighting was really poor. Also, there was some sort of power fluctuation with the lights as they got dimmer and brighter- perhaps due to the construction happening and draining the power somewhat?
We did not get trash removal or towels replaced, but did have a knock from housekeeping to check on us during a mid-day nap. There was security near the elevator each time we walked by and it was nice to feel secure there. Since we were on the ground floor we didn't have to show a room key.
We enjoyed our stay and would absolutely stay again. I can see why this resort is well loved!

Thanks for the pictures. I've never seen a room type like that with just a bed and a pull out couch across from it.

We saw security at the elevators a lot as well. We were on 4th floor but were never asked to show our room key. I wonder if they "profile" people before asking and we always just look like a tired family heading to our room. 🤣

Is it difficult to get a chair or two by the pool in the afternoon in June? I assume people can't just claim a chair in the morning and keep their towel on it all day, right? I enjoy being in the pool with my son mostly. But sometimes I just like to lounge while he swims.

Interesting...aside from the layout differences, it looks like the accessible studio actually got the updated bathroom tiles and countertop from the last hotel refurb that the rest of the studios didn't.
