Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Hi all! I am new to this year's challenge...I tried a while back, but back on the bandwagon now. I still need to send in my weight, but from my own personal standpoint, I am down 4 pounds this week! :) Hope to continue to lose..... GO TEAM MICKEY!!!
 
Pamela, please come visit anytime! :flower3: I never go to the pool and not think about you and your family and your dedication to your DD's chosen sport. I'm glad that she made it safely to CR and will pray for her safe return soon. What a wonderful opportunity, even though that coach made a big snafu.

Thanks for the kind words! Heard from DD nearly every day so far and the trip sounds like it is going along great! Today was ziplining in the Monteverde Cloud forest!

I grew up in Anaheim, home of Disneyland, and worked there as a cast member while I was in college, so my love of all things Disney goes way, way back. I have a Disney office -- as you might have inferred from my tag -- wear Disney jewelry every day and not a day goes by that I don't think about Disney. :love:

DD would be so jealous of that! She can't WAIT to be old enough to apply for the Disney college program!

I was down a pound this week -- the same pound from earlier in the week where I finally snagged my fabulous 60 pound clippie after 3 years of WISHing! :goodvibes So I thank all you WISHers who inspired me to do things that I never thought were possible and encouraged me to dream BIG for myself! :flower3:

Canada was good and he had a blast with friends. He needed a little separation from the girlfriend, which worked. They broke up when he got back. She was becoming controlling and a little unstable. She was threatening to cut herself and her tumblr account was all about some crazy stuff.

My niece has had some people in her life like that. It is best to just make some distance... because if it's not "your fault" that there are issues in this person's life, then it will be someone else's "fault." It's all drama and tears and neediness .........and definitely some mental health issues.

We ended up with about 2 inches but ice must have been in the mix because DS15 had a 2 hour delay this morning. Did not enjoy that phone call at 5am!!

Oh roller derby would be fun!!!!! I love roller derby!

Tell DD I said hey!!!! I found our ToT pic the other day! OMG good times!!!

TRULY good times!! Trying to figure out if I can POSSIBLY swing a trip to US with DS this year (to take him to see WWOHP) and then a last Mother/Daughter trip to WDW next year with DD..... last one before she's off to college..... 4 years of a college schedule and NO spare money!!

Donald 2013 definitely has my vote for your race schedule next year! :thumbsup2 If you want to see a lot of WISHers and folks cheering that seems to the be the one to go to, although I have not done any of those races myself.

Alice, that was a great story about your love of Disney! :cool2:
I have made some positive changes, however:


  1. I am working out, without fail, 3 times per week--going to the gym, getting on the TM and hitting anywhere from 8-13 miles per week, depending on what training plan calls for. Have NOT missed a run on my HM training plan yet, woo hoo (and there have been 21 of them this year!):cool1: I guess that is the most positive change I've made since this challenge began, so thank you, BLC:worship:
  2. I have logged everthing on MyFitnessPal for the last 62 days! Haven't missed a day! Thank you, BLC, for helping me with that positive habit!!!!:thumbsup2
  3. I have a much better outlook at school this year and last, despite some incredibly challenging students this year (I feel you, Friend of a Mouse!!!:hug:). I have not let that deter me from the running!

OK so roller skating. Yeah, I am soooo out of practice!! But I didn't fall! LOL
Now i know why I stayed so thin in HS, I skated 4 times a week but ate like crap. According to fitnesspal you can burn 2000+ calories if you skate for 4 hours. WOOHOO!!!
So I burned over 2000 calories, spend a great afternoon with the kids and now I remember having muscles I apparently don't use very often. LOL

Anyway, I just popped in to say hey. I'm going to finish my dinner and crash!! Back to school tomorrow, winter break is over.

I lost .8 at my Jenny WI But maintained for my BL weigh in. I think I am going back to WW tomorrow because there is simply no way to do vegan on Jenny. I got a walk in the last two days and it felt good! I'm slowly starting to exercise more.
 
Hello Mickeys! How is everyone? I had a pretty good day. Church with kids then some homework with them, then took my two youngest daughters to choir practice.

Now I am catching up on my Real Housewives of Orange County and winding down. We have been off school for a week here for winter break, and they start back tomorrow, so I have to get back in that groove again.

i agree, the weekend just flew by! this is my last full week before surgery so i'm making my to-do list and checking it twice! gonna be busy, but the sun is shining and that's always motivating! maybe the gray winter is really coming to a close. i just can't believe we'd get away with such a mild winter...no snow days at all!

i have a large container of mixed greens in my frig for the week....bring it on!

i like to put on top hard boiled egg for great protein punch. lately i've been partial to light creamy french dressing


my DD is really pushing DH and I to get a dog. we've been dog-free since last June when my oldest moved out. it's been nice but i do miss the fun having a dog brings. and the one we're considering is young so she would definately be a motivator for me to resume my walking once i'm cleared after surgery :teeth:

Yesterday ended up being a bummer of a day. I don't even know where to start with how bad it was. I think what I need to do is move on and make today the best possible. The most logical thing I can do to help facilitate that is to write a to-do list. I'm going to post it here so that I feel more accountable.

In no particular order:
- laundry (wash mattress pad)
- clean bedroom
- find 3 water bottles and clean them (do any other dishes at the same time)
- weigh myself and PM weight to Sue
- drink lots of water
- 10 min. Wii Fit+ Free Step
- go to gym
- job search
- 1-2 miles of WATP
- shower (after all workouts)
- organize Easter gifts
- go to CVS

I highly encourage all of you to participate in the montly exercise thread. This month Cam (keenercam) hosted it. Julie (on Team Mickey) usually hosts it. I will try to post a link on the Mickey thread for the March Exercise Challenge. It is a challenge for yourself to reach your goal of x number of minutes of exercise in the month.
 
QOTD -- how do you dress up your salad? favorite combinations?

My fave salad combo is mixed greens with herbs, topped with 2-3oz of chicken, snap peas, a little onion, cabbage, and small container of the mandaran orange sections (packed in juice). Top it off with either fat-free balsalmic or low-fat Asian dressing and a few savory rice crackers crumbled on top - Yum! I never get tired of it. :)

I will eat pretty much any veggies or fruits in my salad. I do not like nuts in my salad. I buy a salad dressing that is labeled GF and is low in sodium and sugar. It is also fat free. I found it one day on sale and really liked it. Ocean State Job Lot sells it for a good price so we buy it there.
 
LisaH - I would love to do the regular marathon weekend but I really want to do the Tink and the Princess so I can get a CtoC medal.
But, and this is a big ol' butt!! DS15 wants to go on an Ireland/Scotland/England trip with school in the summer of 2013. To the tune of $3600. But, yeah her sister has a big ol' butt too. That is also the year of our 20th anniversary and we were talking about going to Bora Bora or Ireland for that, soooooo we might all go on the UK trip to the tune of $21,256.
And my Montana BFF wants to go on a cruise, just couples in July for my, hers and our Georgia BFFs' 40 birthdays.

I need a job, or 3. LOL

Skating was fun and now the kids want to go once or twice a month which is fine with me. MIL was a professional roller skater so DH is a good skater. It's something we can all do.

QOTD salad
New one from Martha Stewart and it's soooo good!!


Ingredients

Coarse salt and ground pepper
1 cup barley
2 bunches scallions, cut into thirds crosswise and white ends halved
2 1/2 cups fresh corn kernels (from 3 ears corn) or frozen corn
3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 pint grape tomatoes, halved
1/4 cup fresh parsley leaves
Reserved cooked chicken breast from Buttermilk Chicken with Cornbread and Cucumber-Celery Salad, shredded
1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice
5 ounces baby spinach
Directions

In a medium pot of boiling salted water, cook barley according to package instructions. Drain and let cool.
Meanwhile, preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place scallions and corn on a rimmed baking sheet. Toss with 1 tablespoon oil and season with salt and pepper. Roast until vegetables are tender, about 25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
In a large bowl, combine barley, roasted vegetables, tomatoes, parsley, chicken, 1 tablespoon oil, and 1 tablespoon lime juice; season with salt and pepper. In a medium bowl, toss spinach with 1 tablespoon oil and 2 teaspoons lime juice; season with salt and pepper. Serve spinach with chicken-barley mixture.

topped with a little balsamic dressing. It is really good warm or cold. I make a big batch and keep it in the fridge. The kids love it too. DD takes it for lunch quite a bit.

I was keeping track of my weekly weigh ins since October of last year. I was getting ready to make a brand new spreadsheet and enter my weights. However, I was surprised when I found a weight tracking spreadsheet that I had started in 2010 that I had completely forgot about.. I added the weights I had tracked and took a look at it. I was glad to see the weights from May of 2010 until now. Since May 18, 2010 I've lost 24.2 pounds and am still working toward my first mini goal.

So, now having this new information to look at I have reset my goal date. I want to be under 200 pounds by May 18th of this year. Once I'm under 200 pounds then I'll set my next goal of getting to 140.


I was up late last night making egg cups and muffins. I froze the egg cups and put the muffins in a gallon ziplock bag. Then I took the bag and hid it in my room :laughing: to keep mom from eating them.

We're having grilled chicken, macaroni salad, and deviled eggs for dinner tonight. Alan had to run to Publix to get more eggs and Miracle Whip. I'm glad I didn't go ahead and go for my walk outside. It started pouring down rain not that long ago. Mom and I were sitting here talking and then out of nowhere I yelled, "Oh SH*T!" She asked me what was wrong, "The cats are OUTSIDE!" We jumped up and ran to open the back door and called for Dublin and Taylor and they made a mad dash for the back door. Taylor of course now is giving me the stink eye. Sorry guys I forgot..

Iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, sliced turkey or ham, hard boiled egg, grated cheese, Ranch dressing. I'll occasionally put cucumbers in it if I'm in the mood.
