Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Oh, and Liz, I forgot to say that yes, the kids swimming thing is so cool! My kids and husband can all swim, and some of my kids have swam competitively before. That makes me proud! And I'm like you - I can lounge in the pool, and I love hot tubs, and the edge of the ocean. Its something about when the water gets like up to my chin I start to almost hyperventilate. It just doesn't feel natural, to me. My kids love to rib me about it. And in March we are going to Wisconsin Dells, the water park capital of the universe, apparently. lolol. I have done some raft-down-the-tube waterpark rides, and that was ok, but its not my favorite thing to do. The splashdown at the end is a little fear inducing for me. OK, a lot!

Just want to say a big HAPPY FRIDAY to all of my Team Mickey friends! I miss you all and hope things are going well for you. I know that some of you are on your way to Disney for the Princess Half right now, correct???

Best wishes for a great run to all of our Princesses!....................P

HEY STRANGER!!!!!!! I miss you!!!!!!

OK, back on track today. I.... OMG....I....ergh!!!! I'm so pissed at myself. I totally went off track the last few days and the scale is shoving it in my face. up 2 pounds, sorry team. Vote me off!!!!!

Today. I am journalling my food. I am getting in my water, it's sitting right here with me and I'm hitting the treadmill right after I DIS. I have 4 minutes left.

Yesterday we had 60 weather and I didn't take advantage of it. Today we have freakin frakin snow on the ground. ERGH!!!!!!

Sunday we are going roller skating!! I haven't been since I turned 18 and met DH. I used to skate 4-5 times a week for hours but after I stopped we did country line dancing on the SubBase (where I met hubby). When we moved to Hawaii I stopped all of that and that's when the weight started. Anyway, DS11 wants to learn how to skate so hopefully we can make it a more frequent event. Who knows!!

OK off I go to the dungeon! I'll fitnesspal my time later today!

That's so awesome that you are doing a triathlon! That is so inspiring! I love to run and bike, but swimming.. not so much. I actually am one of those weird people who CAN'T swim. I just never learned, and kind of have a fear of deep water. One day maybe that will be my goal-to learn to swim. Please keep us informed of your triathlon training. That is very exciting to me and very inspirational! I am so proud of you, Lisa!

It's not a "real" triathalon, Melinda. It is based on the Ironman, which we host here in Coeur d'Alene every summer, and is at our Kroc Community Center and called the Krocman. You do the same thing as the Ironman, 2.4 miles swimming, 112 miles biking, and 26.2 miles running but you have 30 days to complete each leg. At the end of three months I will have completed a triathalon. :cool2: Which is as close as I will ever get to doing so! :rotfl:

My swimming isn't great and let me tell you it takes a long time to swim and get any distance. This morning I swam 12 laps in about 25 minutes I swam about 1/4 of a mile. If I was running it would have been closer to 2 miles. But it is fun, doesn't hurt the back too much, and is great to try something different. :beach:

Off to physical therapy. :fish:

this weekend is the Princess half!!?? ohhhhhhh i soooo want to do this someday!!!

I love Kai! She was there for the right reasons! Not sure who else I liked. The lady that lost her kids and DH in a car accident, she was an inspiration. She's engaged again, which I think is awesome!!!

I can tell you I HATE this season's contestants. Bitter bitter people. UGH!!

That was Abby Rike. I have her book right here next to me and I'd love to send it to you if you would like to read it! PM me if you want it.

HEY STRANGER!!!!!!! I miss you!!!!!!

Missing you too! How did DS do in Canada? DD is away right now too and I am really missing her!

OK, back on track today. I.... OMG....I....ergh!!!! I'm so pissed at myself. I totally went off track the last few days and the scale is shoving it in my face. up 2 pounds, sorry team. Vote me off!!!!!

No voting off! If so, I would have been gone a long time ago! :rotfl:

Today. I am journalling my food. I am getting in my water, it's sitting right here with me and I'm hitting the treadmill right after I DIS. I have 4 minutes left.

Today is a new day.... it is a GIFT.... that is why it is called the PRESENT! :)

Yesterday we had 60 weather and I didn't take advantage of it. Today we have freakin frakin snow on the ground. ERGH!!!!!!

They promised us anywhere from 2-8 inches of snow that was supposed to be here between 4 and 6 am today..... We got NOTHING and have had just a tiny bit of flurries spitting in the sky over the last hour. How wrong can they possibly be????

I did take a little advantage of yesterday's sunshine and took a 1 mi run with DS when he got home from school (he rode his bike). But the wind was cold and I had that "wheezing" feeling that I get from running outside in the cold, for the rest of the day. I'm sticking to the TM until it hits at least 55 degrees outside!!

Have a great time skating! DS noticed that a vacant storefront around here has been turned into a practice rink for a local women's roller derby.... and he thinks I ought to sign up!!! :lmao: I was a decent rollerskater in my day, but definitely NOT roller derby material!!

That is a GREAT idea!! Too bad you couldn't do it as a relay.... I could get DD to do the swim let for you! She can do a 1650 (considered a "swim mile") in well under 30 minutes!

Things are slow on the Donald thread, so I am lurking over here!...........P

Hi Team! Just checking in on weigh in day! No gain or loss for me, but I'm ok with that. I wish I could have a big lose one of these weeks to help the team, but alas a maintain is better than a gain I guess!

I treadmilled 3.25 miles this morning. I was pretty proud of that. I hope to do it again tomorrow or Sunday. It's easy to want to keep going everyday at that distance, but the last thing I want is to get burned out! Tonight is hopefully soup and salad at a local restaurant. I hope that they had New England clam chowder. I know it's pretty high in points but it's a little cup and I pair it with a pretty plain salad. BUT...I must say NO to the garlic knots! Evil little bits of Heaven they are!!

Have a great weekend everyone! Kristin

QOTD: I've never watched the show, so can't answer it.

Had a good weigh in ! :cool1: That was nice because this week I gained 4 pounds over night! How's that for a neat trick?! :lmao: And, it only took one small brownie to do it. It took a couple days to lose it; I'm glad it took some friends with it!

Got my walk in this morning and plan to do a run (2.5 miles) in a little bit. Then figure out what's for dinner and hit the grocery store. I'm in the middle of :laundy: DS1's basketball game is tonight instead of tomorrow like we thought so needed to wash his uniform. DS2's season ended with a win so that was good. Better go read the paper and plan some meals.

Hope everyone has good weigh-ins, a super Princess run, and a fantastic weekend.

this weekend is the Princess half!!?? ohhhhhhh i soooo want to do this someday!!!

Me too!!! I'd love to do it in 2013 but if DS15 goes to Ireland all the extra $$ has to go to that.

That was Abby Rike. I have her book right here next to me and I'd love to send it to you if you would like to read it! PM me if you want it.

Yes it was Abby!!! Would love to have her book! Thanks, let me know if you need my addy.

Canada was good and he had a blast with friends. He needed a little separation from the girlfriend, which worked. They broke up when he got back. She was becoming controlling and a little unstable. She was threatening to cut herself and her tumblr account was all about some crazy stuff.

We ended up with about 2 inches but ice must have been in the mix because DS15 had a 2 hour delay this morning. Did not enjoy that phone call at 5am!!

Oh roller derby would be fun!!!!! I love roller derby!

Tell DD I said hey!!!! I found our ToT pic the other day! OMG good times!!!

**********************************
OK, so I got 4 miles in, in just under 70 minutes!! WooHoo!!! I would have done more but I need to get DS15 and take him to the chiro. And I burned off breakfast!

GOOO Lisa! The Krocman sounds super fun, and what a great idea! And girlfriend, in my book, that IS a real triathlon! That's a big commitment and YOU ARE DOING IT!!! Wow, that is amazing! One day (maybe) I'll have the courage to do something like that!! Until then, I will have to live vicariously through you! Hope physical therapy goes well! :cool1::thumbsup2

That's quite a trick and one I have done myself! Who knew we were not only losers but magicians? lol :lmao: How can one brownie make you gain 4 pounds? I have experienced it myself and it boggles my mind! Great work on the WHOOSH! and awesome on the walk AND a run! That is amazing! I AM going to get myself out there today at some point and run. I need to stop saying "at some point" and pick a time and commit to it.

Me too!!! I'd love to do it in 2013 but if DS15 goes to Ireland all the extra $$ has to go to that.

Awesome job! 4 miles is no joke, and you did it! And that is a great pace---right in the calorie burning zone! Way to go!! :cool1::thumbsup2

QOTD: This is the first season of Biggest Loser I have ever watched and I think they all whine a lot. I wish they would just enjoy their time there. That being said, they are all losing weight at a much faster rate than me, so who am I to say anything? I probably whine some too, lol. That brings me to my next question: HOW DO THEY LOSE THAT KIND OF WEIGHT EACH WEEK? Like at least 5-10 lbs a week? What are they eating/doing that amounts to that kind of weight loss.

For anyone in this challenge that is interested in starting to learn to run, or run/walk, here are some links that might make it easier for you:

www.coolrunning.com has a lot of just neat running info, and a great pace calculator

Here is the Newbie Cafe where you can ask any questions: http://community.active.com/community/sports/running/newbies

And here is the link to the Couch-to-5K Running Plan (tells you step by step what you need to do everyday to get from basically sitting on the couch to running a 5K in 9 weeks): http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

Thanks everyone all of your Posts were MOTIVATING!!!!!!!!!!!

I am working on making myself a priority! I realized this week that I am saying yes to too many people, causes, work etc...

I need to focus on getting healthy myself. That is my goal for the next week!!

Reading all your answers makes me feel less selfish and more empowered and knowing I need to focus on myself for all the right reasons!!

QOTD: THURSDAY What do you drink?

Pretty simple...but I have got to kick the Diet Coke habit. I started drinking Green Tea and sometimes Crystal Light along with my water. I just want the flavor!!!:yay: :surfweb:

Happy Healthy Thursday!!! :cheer2:
Nancy

QUOTD: cranberry juice diluted with a lot of ice and water, milk. Water. Water. Water. Water. I like the Costco flavored waters, and Albertsons brand is really pretty good. Mostly just straight water though-- I'm lucky-- I live in Oregon. Coffee. One big cup a day (it's big) Vodka/gin and zero calorie tonic. Diet low sodium pepsi and rum. I squeeze fresh limes and lemons in both. Wine.

HEY STRANGER!!!!!!! I miss you!!!!!!

I love how everyone is skating-- one way or another. it's kind of something you leave behind as a 'grown up' but it's fun and great exercise. I might practice my skateboard today--'cause it's really nice. Gonna ride my bike to the store though and get my check-- so that's a good ride. Maintained this week-- happy for it. It was a battle just to do that....seriously-- I haven't eaten much, been drowning in water and spent 2 hrs a day in the gym on the elliptical 3 days this week and one day 45 minutes swimming. Oh-- I found a sillicone swim cap at Target for $10 and it's awesome-- I love it!

I did make a huge amount ham egg and rice thing this week with the left over spiral and probably over indulged a bit as it is one step away from orgasm.:confused3

quick pop-in to see how the w/i seems to be going  seems like lots of exercising happening today!! yeeehawww!!!

BAMB -- let's pencil in that goal for ourselves :teeth:

my daughter and I are co-hosting a pampered chef party tonight...i have a nice spread here for our friends but it's not very BLC friendly ;( what was i thinking??!!

Had a friend over to scrapbook today-- the first time I have done that and it was fun! Another friend came over to join us for lunch. I finally figured out how to make homemade Gyros and they were my guinea pigs. They turned out really great! I am so excited that I now can have gyros when I want. Going to make a big batch and keep it in the freezer. I actually didn't eat with them because my stomach decided to rebel again this morning. I had some a few mins ago-- I suspect that I am going to regret it.

Didn't get much scrapbooking done but got some stuff organized!

Busy weekend!

Cold is still kicking my butt. Took the kids to the movies to see The Secret World of Arietty. It was really good! Stopped at the dollar store for treats before hand. Gotta head out after eating dinner to let the dog out one more time. Gonna watch Project Runway shortly. Temp is 99 so I took some Motrin. Gotta feel better for the GKTW Bowl-a-thon I'm participating in tomorrow. Will try and go to bed early.

Gotta remember to send in my weigh in.

TTFN :tigger:

this weekend is the Princess half!!?? ohhhhhhh i soooo want to do this someday!!!

I did it last year. And OMG my terrific friend Jen made tutus for us to wear while running!!

That was Abby Rike. I have her book right here next to me and I'd love to send it to you if you would like to read it! PM me if you want it.P

... I am going to google the book right now! Did you like it?

FRIDAY QOTD: Who is your favorite Biggest Loser personality? (any season)

I really liked Kai...anyone remember her? i liked her name immediately and just liked her spunk and wow! her transformation was awesome!

There are a few that I've really like - definitely Abby, Tara, ...the girl who was the "first woman" to win - forget her name! I also loved Courtney from one of the latest seasons - they all had the right attitude and were there to chenge their lives and didn't seem to be involved in any of the back-stabbing drama that is ruining this season. (sorry, some of those current contestants are just plain mean!!) I had the chance to meet Mark and Jay, brothers who competed together on the show, in October 2010 when we were running in the same half marathon. My husband and I ran into them at the race expo and hung out and talked for a while. I have a picture but..am kind of tecnologically challenged and am not sure how to post it!! :lmao:

...hanging out with our favorites neighbors tonight. Looking forward to lots of laughs!
Have a great night everyone!!

Well for starters when they eat it's all monitored and each diet is tuned to them specifically. Secondly and most importantly they work out like 8 hours a day. It's insane!!! They work with the trainers for a few hours a day but then they have "homework" which is hours of different cardio and weight training. The weird thing is, they rarely use the pool. Jillian used to one year because she was trying to help a girl would couldn't swim and was deathly afraid of water.

BAMB -- let's pencil in that goal for ourselves :teeth:

OK you are on!!

Ali Vincent was the first female winner. OMG, she has awesome legs now. I used to have hot legs like that.

Totally forgot Rudy!! He lives in Brooklyn CT which is where we used to live. I'd love to meet him and get some pointers.

To post pics you need to upload them to a site like photobucket

That sounds so cool. What a great goal to do it in 30 days!! Still a huge accomplishment!

I have no idea what I've been doing since Monday, but I have barely found the time to check in here. I visited my friend who just had a baby girl on Monday. She is adorable and so easy-going. :cloud9: On Tuesday, I ran a 5+ hour errand. Wednesday was church and hanging out with my sister. Yesterday wasn't too busy until late in the afternoon. I have no idea what I did in the morning. Was I even awake? :rotfl2: I went to dinner with a few friends last night. I have a hunch that what I ate had gluten in it and/or had too much milk in it. :confused3 I couldn't wake up this morning and was sick to my stomach. :headache: I finally got out of bed at 2 PM and then went grocery shopping. We didn't need too much but today is an abstinence day, so we did need fish. My dad cooked dinner, which means that I have no idea how many calories I really consumed. I am going to have dessert anyway. I think it's necessary since dinner was my first meal of the day. :rolleyes1

QOTD Catch-up: I do not like this BL season, with 2 exceptions. I like Buddy and Mark. I especially like Buddy. It says a lot to me when you can lose 10 pounds the week you and your wife have a ne baby. I also like Abby, Tara, Ali, and they man from last season who won the marathon. I can't remember his name.

I mostly drink water, sometimes with Crystal Light in it. I also aim to drink 8 oz. of milk a day. I try to stay awake from juice and rarely drink alcohol. Really, the only alcohol I drink is what I consume at church after giving out Communion. I'm not supposed to drink alcohol with my meds.

Lisah and Buffy: Glad to hear that you are feeling better!

Tracey: Feel better soon!

Qotd: I love Bob plain and simple I love him...

BUT....Oh Baby I could add Dolvett to my list!!! :lmao:

DH is laughing at me!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks everyone for indulging me in helping with motivation! I enjoyed coaching, but need to get my butt in gear, I am still maintaining and I need to lose!!

Have a healthy weekend!!!
XOXOXO

Nancy

FRIDAY QOTD: Who is your favorite Biggest Loser personality? (any season)

I miss Jillian! I love bob too though and I hope Dolvette will stick around. As far as contestants go-- Tara is my big time favorite.

Yeah-- we were kind of surprised by how badly Daphne and he brother were treated-- she really got hers back though-- kind of genius.
