Hello TEAM MICKEY! ::MickeyMo

OK so roller skating. Yeah, I am soooo out of practice!! But I didn't fall! LOL!

Sounds like a ton of fun and what a great calorie burn! :cool1:

Jess, good job on walking more! :thumbsup2 Do you have a pedometer?

Hello Mickeys! How is everyone? I had a pretty good day.

Glad you had a good day, Melinda! :goodvibes

Where did you live in NM? We were married in Santa Fe. My sister lived there and it was a good middle spot between where my folks lived -- Phoenix -- and where DH's folks lived -- Colorado Springs. You have lived in a lot of beautiful and interesting places! :hippie:

Congrats to all the awsome Princesses who ran this weekend! I can't wait to see the pictures and her the TRs! princess:princess:

Seems like just yesterday we were Princesses, too! princess:

sparkpeople doesn't really change their content and I've been on it for so long that I remember various articles as they come along. I do a couple of emails weekly and that is plenty for me. I really enjoy active.com on FB as well as Runner's World, Galloway, and Coach Jenny. I can remember articles and usually find them as things come up . . . sort of like remembering cases, i.e. mill wheel = damages must be foreseeable. ;)

QOTD -- how do you dress up your salad? favorite combinations?

I love a romaine salad with a sliced hard boiled egg, toasted sliced almonds, and blue cheese dressing on the side. Yummy! The egg is 80 calories, a 1/4 c almonds is 137 calories and a tbsp of dressing is 75 calories. It's more like a lunch kind of salad.

One of the things I've found is that if I eat "real food," even if it is higher in calories, I am much more satisfied and less likely to eat other things I shouldn't. My weight was much better in the days before "lite" food came along. ::yes::

Molli, sending you lots of good thoughts and pixiedust: for your upcoming surgery.

Pamper Week, Monday 2/27: Read anything you find relaxing. A book, a magazine, etc.

Thanks for pamper week, CC! :thumbsup2

I read every day for pleasure so this is an easy one!

LisaH - I would love to do the regular marathon weekend but I really want to do the Tink and the Princess so I can get a CtoC medal.

The C2C medal is a beautiful one, Buffy! I'm hoping to get one some day, too. There is a rumor that there may be a third DL race starting in 2013 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed as I am committed to the WDW Marathon W/E in 2013 with my BL Princesses. princess:

The should have named this season of Biggest Loser "No Whining" :sad2: I just watch the highlights on the internet now.

HI Team Mickey!!

Just jumping over from team Donald to say Hi :wave2:

I miss you guys!!!!

Have a great day and catch you when the threads merge!!!

~Karen princess:

Hi Karen! Nice to see you! :flower3: It will be a happy day when we are all on the same thread again. ::yes::

Kristina, great goal and in time for the end of the challenge! :thumbsup2 You might want to consider a smaller interim goal after that before your final goal -- "an inch is a cinch but yards are much harder."

I will be hitting ONE-derland in March. After that my next goal will be 13 pounds down which will put me at the top of the "overweight" category. I should have no problem meeting both of those goals this challenge and with a lot of hard work my goal by the end of summer. :cool2:

Thought you all might enjoy this sparkpeople article called "5 Secrets of the 5% -- What You Can Learn From Successful Dieters."

More elusive than Bigfoot, more mysterious than the alien residents of Area 51—they’re so anonymous, we’re tempted to ask "do these people actually exist?" I’m here to tell you that YES they do exist

Crawling back on the wagon. :rolleyes1 I've missed everyone a lot but have been so busy! The worst thing about this job is the complete lack of a normal schedule; I never have the same days off every week and I rarely ever have a set shift schedule! Next week I have five different shifts, ranging from 6 to 9.75 hours, from anytime between 8:45am-11pm. :scared1:

I haven't stepped on a scale in weeks and I've been eating a lot of junk. But today I said "Enough" and went to WalMart where I bought, while not completely healthy food, much better stuff than what I've been eating.

There's no way I'm going to be able to go back through and catch up, but I'll try to be better about keeping up going forward,

Oh, and for all of you who were there for my mom's rough patch, she finally went back to work today...exactly two months later. She's working for the same agency but in a new group home much closer to home, with much easier individuals, no longer as a lead, but as the medical appointment/paperwork person. She did something similar at her old job a few years ago and really liked it, so she's looking forward to starting over!

Hi all,

Been a not so great day here. Woke up at 2am with a sore throat and headache. Canceled my client and my volunteering in Izzie's class. I listened to 3 podcasts while I laid on the couch until about 10:30. I played some games on my Kindle Fire and then finally cleaned the kitchen and watched 3 episodes of Downton Abbey season 4. I picked up the girls. Izzie didn't want to go to dancing so she rested and read for awhile. Ash got her homework done.

About an hour ago, Ash came down with the stomach bug for the 2nd time! It was not pretty. She has gotten sick twice. She had a dr appt tomorrow and 2-3 things after school and dancing that are now not taking place. I have to go to work to set up our new printer tomorrow so as long as she's not throwing up at that point I can do it. Right before she got sick, she moaned loudly, "make it stop!" Our girls are good at warning us by moaning right before it happens!

Luckily I'm finally feeling mostly better. I can at least breathe again and the headache is under control.

Watching Daytona 500. Nothing else on tonight until Smash at 10. Need to go finish up the laundry I just had to do!

TTFN :tigger:

I am going to bed in a few minutes. Here's how I did for the day.

- laundry (wash mattress pad) done & bed is made

- clean bedroom done

- find 3 water bottles and clean them (do any other dishes at the same time)
I have no idea where the other water bottle is. Otherwise, done

- weigh myself and PM weight to Sue done

- drink lots of water Drank at least 64 oz.[/!B]

- 10 min. Wii Fit+ Free Step done, plus an Island Lap, so 17 min. total

- go to gym done-13 min. on treadmill & 12 min. on recumbent bike

- job search done

- 1-2 miles of WATP not happening

- shower (after all workouts) only took the quick one

- organize Easter gifts done

- go to CVS done, plus the post office

I'm not sure what tomorrow's to-do list will look like yet. I have a few things I could do, but I need to prioritize. I may have overbooked myself.

My battery and my computer's batter are running on low, so I'm off for the night.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

:wave2:

Got called in to sub FINALLY on a day I had nothing else going on and could go! It was for the guidance department secretary at the Middle School and I have subbed for her before. It is a slow day with not much to do so they tell me to bring something to keep me busy. I got my menu planned, read 2 cookbooks and another book I had brought. DH joked that I got more done today than I usually do in a week, and I got paid to do it! It sounds like she is going to have to go out of town to visit an ill family member in the next week or two so they want me to sub for her while she is out.

While there the head Administrative Asst came over and was  over how much weight I have lost. I was really surprised at how complementary she was. Definitely made me feel good  . She was asking me all about how I did it and what I was eating.

Started GF today. DH had to go buy me another steak because he had marinated the London Broil in Terriyaki sauce that was not gf. I tried Quinoa for the first time to and it was really good. The family was unimpressed but I liked it. It was made with mushrooms and black beans. I had leftovers and saved the rest of my steak and will mix them together for lunch tomorrow.

QOTD -- how do you dress up your salad? favorite combinations?

I am pretty simple and not very imaginative. Iceberg lettuce, cucumber, mushrooms, a little lf cheese, some bacon bits, usually some ham or turkey lunchmeat, cottage cheese mixed with ranch seasoning, ranch dressing and roasted black beans seasoned with garlic on top. If I have leftover steak I really like to have that for my meat. I am not a big fan of fruit on my salad. I love fruit and really just like to eat it plain.

The last few days I have fluctuated between feeling okay to feeling terrible. I think my stomach is back to somewhat stable. Very interested to see if gf makes any difference. I am not really sure of an accurate weight. I sent in what I think is probably most likely. Because of the issues I have fluctuated in about a 5 pound range but most of that is due to fluid loss and dehydration.

Going to go and find something to watch on TV and veg.

Here we celebrate our progress and recognize our superstars.

Biggest Loser Fall Challenge Week 8!
This week’s group loss = 13.2 pounds!
Average percentage of weight lost 0.27 %
Total group weight loss so far 338.8 pounds!

AWESOME!

Retention Rate (compared to the 72 participants we had sign up for our start week on January 1st)
43% (this includes the Losers, Maintainers and Excused people!). Let's keep sending those weights people!

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimer. I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage. Now let me test that with my numbers for week 1, click, click, click goes the calculator. Yes, that agrees with the percentage on the magic spreadsheet. (btw if its been more than 1 week between weigh-ins, then the % loss is divided by the number of weeks, to keep everybody on the same basis)

Now let's get to the good stuff. Who were our superstars of week 8?

NOW FOR THOSE OF US WHO SET A GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE!!!

NOTE: This list includes participants who have reported in within the last 3 weeks, once someone misses 3 weigh-ins they are dropped from this report.

How this works: You set your goal for what you want to lose in the challenge. Then I calculate your weight loss in the challenge divided by your goal to get a % to goal.

Anybody can change their goal at anytime (or add a goal) – all you have to do is send me a PM.

Since the goals are an individual thing, the list is just in alphabetical order to make it easier for everybody to find their own name. If there are any questions or suggestions please let me know.

We have done 8 out of 21 weeks, so the challenge is 38% complete.

:dance3: Yeah, BMC423!!! :dance3:

Way to go, everyone! It's so inspiring - and motivational - to see all this success as we get deeper into the challenge!

QOTD: Salads...I like to pull a When Harry Met Sally on my salad orders, and I customize everything. If a salad has guacamole, I skip the dressing and stir it all up with the guac; that ends up being plenty for me. I do that a lot at California Tortilla.

If I'm making one from scratch, I like to use Boston lettuce. Grape tomatoes cut in half, diced carrots/cucumbers/red bell peppers, corn, a smidge of shredded cheese...and I like those spray dressings for portion control. But I don't make salads at home much. I'm not sure why - maybe because I order them often when we're out, or I like warmer stuff in the winter (soup! yum!).

No problem on the pamper week challenge today! I've been reading up a storm. :)

WOW! I made the top 10

It's after 1am here and I'm heading to bed after watching the Daytona 500!! It was CRAZY with all the crashes and then the jet fuel fire was insane. They were under a red flag for 2 hours.

I'm off to bed and hoping to get a lengthy workout in today.

Goodnight!

An early good morning to TEAM MICKEY!

It might not be early where you are but here it is 4:07 a.m. and I will be leaving shortly to go to the pool and do my last 9 laps for my first leg of the Krocman. :cool1: Thursday starts the big leg -- 112 miles in March. On top of my running training schedule, although for now I am still only cleared for the pool, and non-weightbearing activity except gentle walking up to 15 minutes at a time. My back tells me when I've pushed it. :teeth:

Crawling back on the wagon. :rolleyes1 I've missed everyone a lot but have been so busy! The worst thing about this job is the complete lack of a normal schedule.

Gretchen, :welcome: back! I've really enjoyed all your pictures on FB. And look, the wagon is right here so no worries, no regrets, just hop on! :thumbsup2 I'm glad that you're Mom is doing better too. :flower3:

Tracey, some day you will go a whole week without someone in your family being ill. :flower3:

CC, sounds like a busy day. :goodvibes

LTS, nice that you finally got to sub and that they have really noticed all your positive changes! :goodvibes Good luck with the GF. Rose will be back soon and she has a ton of great info on that process.

A big, BL congratulations to all our superstars and especially to our biggest losert BMC423! :cool1:

And to TEAM MICKEY for being the winner this week! :smickey:

I do like watching those goal numbers (although I haven't set myself a goal for this challenge) -- Liz is almost at her goal and Jude is almost half way! :yay:

Liz, have you been reading anything exciting? :hippie:

Off to go swimming. It's 7 degrees outside so it will be one of those days where I wear my big fluffy robe from the car to the community center. Looks funny but it is warm and at 5 am no one is paying much attention to you anyway! :rotfl:

I thought I would also share this post about the old muscle vs. fat thing.

Muscle doesn't weight more than fat -- a pound equals a pound -- but it has much less volume.

fat-v-muscle.jpg

This comes from a wedsite called onemorebite.com and here is a link to the whole article if you are interested http://www.onemorebite-weightloss.com/muscle-to-fat.html

This is a post that we share pretty much at least once during every challenge and it seemed like a good time to do that.

I do like watching those goal numbers (although I haven't set myself a goal for this challenge) -- Liz is almost at her goal and Jude is almost half way! :yay:

Liz, have you been reading anything exciting? :hippie:

Thanks for the goal shout-out! :) :cool1: I hardly dare look at it at this point - I'm just trying to stay heads-down and get there. I always seem to psych myself out when I get close, and this is the closest I've been since before I got pregnant with DD7! I had a food-laden weekend, but I think I'm on track to maintain this week, maybe lose a smidge. Here's hoping!

As for books, oooh yeah. :) I always have a book going, and I set a goal of reading 50 a year. I just love reading. I read mostly fiction - I love disappearing into those other worlds - but I don't rule out nonfiction...recently, I've read 11/22/63 by Stephen King (hugely long but awesome), Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling (very funny!), and I've found a couple of YA authors I like quite a bit - Gabrielle Zevin and John Green. I'm almost done with Gabrielle Zevin's Elsewhere now. That one read really fast - I started it last night and read it before and after Zumba!

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday - it's my commuting day, and my WW weigh-in day! I also get to have lunch at my favorite sushi place with a good friend, so I'm ready for a good one here. :)

XO

Hi Team, well yesterday was pretty awful. A coworkers daughters go to Chardon High where the shooting occurred. They are safe but one of the victims was a family friend. Needless to say, I went into stress eating mode and binged on whatever I could find in the house after work Also, I replied to a question on one of the other forums and apparently the person thought my idea wan't so good and then I felt stupid. I love these boards but I find the WISH board to be the most welcoming, sometimes I'm afraid to post a question on other sub boards because it turns into something huge. Anyway I treadmilled 3.25 miles this morning and didn't gain any weight. The run helped clear my head too. Have a great day eveyone and thanks for listening. You guys are the best!

Crawling back on the wagon. :rolleyes1 I've missed everyone a lot but have been so busy!

:welcome: back Gretchen! we'll keep you looking forwards as opposed to backwards and keeping your eye on the prize...your goal! glad to hear life is better for your Mom too

Molli, sending you lots of good thoughts and pixiedust: for your upcoming surgery.

The I will be hitting ONE-derland in March.

thanks

and :cheer2::cheer2: to ONEderland you go!!!

Been a not so great day here.

TUESDAY QOTD -- What is ONE thing you could not live without for this challenge? It could be a food, it could be a workout video, a piece of equipment, whatever....just share what is the most important.

i have relied on Luna and Balance bars for a quick breakfast with a protein punch

Lisa- Thanks! It was a long night. Last time up was 2:30 though she kicked me at 4:30. We were on the two ends of the couch. She has a slight fever this morning. I have to go into work to set up our new printer later this morning. Hoping my headache right now is from lack of sleep last night. Had to cancel an appt for Ash this morning and she had 3 other things this afternoon. Oh well!

Need to make something to eat for myself!

TTFN :tigger:

Tuesday's QOTD answer: My treadmill! I know I'm probably a little weird but I like the treadmill better than running outside (except for the lake trail I run on with DD and DH in the summer). Can I choose a second thing? MY TEAMMATES!! You guys are such inspirations!!
