Hi Mr T
Hi Mr. T
Hi Zorylee! Hi Janet! Hi Rachel!

Only about a day late, but I'm a little behind.
Thanks Kristel!
Cross your fingers and send good thoughts!
Sending good thoughts your way!
Happy Hanukkah!!!!
We're having a get-together at the motha's friend's house.
And to you as well! Have fun at the party! Enjoy the dreideling. Is that a proper verb? Ah well.
I'm always out early on the dreidel game, as even when I win, I have a tendency to eat the profits. Do you guys play for chocolate as well? I'm getting better in recent years. The chocolate covered coins just don't do it so much anymore. Now, if we were playing for Dove minis or Ghirardelli squares, I'd be in deep trouble.
Happy Hanukkah to ALL who celebrate....
Thanks Mel!
SOunds like a lot of fun was had by all but I am exhausted just reading all that
As for a summary there hadn't been much going on. Everyone has been on a snow watch with CE and Mel, but mostly everyone has been just doing quick check ins in between doing all the last minute holiday stuff.
Thanks for the summary Janet! I decided I at least go back and read from my post yesterday.
My kids said the party was fun, and they'd tell me if they had been bored.

I think the edible menorah was a big hit with the age 4-9 crowd. How can you go wrong with graham crackers, marshmallow spread, pretzels and icing? We fed them hot dogs, so hopefully they had enough of a protein base that there weren't too many sugar overdoses.
Ok my Jewish friends.........I've seen 2 ways to spell the December holiday......so which one is right??? And why 2 different ways?
Take your pick. There's only one way to spell it in Hebrew - חנוכה. When you transliterate into English, you have choices as to how to simulate the correct sounds for the Hebrew letters.
Wow that sounds very busy, so what exactly is Chanukah or however you spell it?
Chanukah commemorates the rededication of the Temple in Jersulem sometime around 150BCE. Practice of Judaism was outlawed by the King Antiochus of Syria, who, if I remember correctly, held control of Israel at the time. He looted and desecrated the Temple and also ordered the raising of an altar to Zeus there. Some rebels (the Maccabees) initiated a successful revolt and the Temple was rededicated. The lore is that when the Temple was retaken they could only find enough consecrated oil to light the eternal flame in the Temple for one day; however, the flame miraculously burned for eight days until fresh oil could be pressed, purified and consecrated. As a consequence, Chanukah runs for eight days. The holiday start floats a bit on the secular calendar. The start date on the Jewish calendar is fixed, but it can fall anywhere from about late November to late December depending on the secular year.
Wow. Lots of rambling for David tonight.
Ok, so here's the nice pics from Yani's camera from our 4 day Disney trip! I wish I was still there!!
Thanks for the pics in your mini-TR! I can't wait until this summer to get back there.
Ha! David is rambling....
Why use two words when one will suffice?
He literally came home with a bag full of things that were WRONG and I sent him back today to get the correct items. Example: I asked for Chex mix, he came home with traditional...but we always buy cheese. I asked for 2 bags of good milk choco chips, he came home with 2 giant bags of semi sweet... And the list went on and on. Why do men do that stuff?
I'm usually pretty good about the list. My problem is that I tend to also pick up additional items, usually on-sale bulk packages or large numbers of items we use. Jenny's biggest gripe on that is where to store extras until we go through them.
I'm sorry. My DH is pretty good, but calls me at least twice every time he goes.
I do that too, at least when Jenny wrote the list.
What does a driedel look like??
It's like a top. Here's a picture of a Disney pin depicting two of them.
You spin the dreidel and depending on the letter that shows up when it lands you have different consequences in the game.
==================================================
I think I've caught up since I posted yesterday. That was quite a few pages.
Well all is pretty quiet here at the moment. DS6 is asleep, and the DDs should be, and at least they're in bed.

It's not a school night, so they can sleep-in in the morning.
We had our first night of Chanukah. DS6 got to light the menorah tonight.
The kids got there first night's presents. They were generally pretty happy.
I'm pretty worn out, and I've got an appointment with the gym in the morning. Time to chill for a few, and then turn into a pumpkin.
TTFN!
