Thought it was about time I did a little trippie of what I did on Sunday!
I drove to my Sisters (Emma) about 10am so we could catch the train into London which took about 30 minutes. We then walked from Waterloo Station to Hatton Square where the Chocolate making was being held. Em works, well when she's not on maternity leave, in London so she knows where she's going. It took about 30 minutes though and I was glad I'd put on comfy shoes!
Some of the sites we saw on the way!
The London Eye
Houses of Parliment and Big Ben
St Pauls Cathedral
As it was a Sunday there were no restaurants open where we were so as we had about 1.5 hours before the course started we jumped on the tube and went to Oxford Street. This was really busy and we ended up going to Carluccios for lunch, I had a lovely lasagne and then we stupidly had dessert, I had Lemon tart which again was very nice.
We were now a bit pushed for time so jumped back on the tube and made it back just in time. It was in a strange building, looked like an old factory or something and we were glad we would be leaving when it was still light IYKWIM!
We were in a group of about 12 people and had a lovely girl called Rose who was an actress/musician as our instructor. She showed us how to make several things (fudge, praline, vanilla truffles) all the time telling us about the history of chocolate and getting us to taste samples ranging from the actual cocoa bean to a dark chocolate with chilli in
We all got to help her and I was first helping her whip up the cream and butter, lets just say it was slightly messy and cream went everywhere
After helping to make lots of goodies and attempt to pipe out truffles we had a short break where we could stuff ourselves with marshmallows dunked in chocolate, this is where we started to really regret having dessert at lunch
After the break this is what we saw.
A piece of fudge and praline, lots of bowls of melted chocolate and several toppings like cocoa powder, white chocolate shavings, coconut, sprinkles etc. Rose showed us how to cut up our fudge into shapes and dunk it into chocolate and decorate. This became very messy and is soooooo much harder than it looks

She then brought around the truffles which we also dunked in!
Have a look!!!!!

When we'd finished and all the chocolate had set we bagged them up, here's a horrid photo of me!
We had lots of fun but it definitely is harder than you think it is, I'm glad we did it (it was a present from our Dad) but don't think I'd do it again. I will definitelty have a go at making caramel though as Rose made it look so easy!
