Tattooed working class (regular guy) neighbor never wears a shirt

If the guy is in his yard it doesn't matter. I am almost positive that not one restaurant or business is going to give service to a man without a shirt or shoes on.

BTW, can i be in the club too? My guy has tons of tattoos, piercings and to top it off he is hairy too. Oh and he is blue collar too. I happen to have seven tattoos and I love showing them off and a couple of the tattoos are nude :scared1: Scandalous!!!!

tattooed arms and beer bellies = big hearts and great husbands!

Amen! My husband is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet(and boy can he TALK  ) He doesn't drink alot of beer so I think his belly must just be a gift from God :teeth: . I love that man!

OH...and spazzyjazzy....my DH is also hairy!

If he's in his own yard, or in a venue that allows that kind of behaviour, it's his own business, not gonna worry about it. Heck, I might look him over.. cus I like tats and skin.

Unfortunately health codes don't allow for shirtless and shoeless so your argument is moot, as others have pointed out, when you tried to change it around.

so exactly WHY were you posting, who's bothering you by being nekkid from the waist up? I used to know a woman who'd mow her lawn in only bikini bottoms and pasties. *chuckles* Talk about drawing a crowd.

I'm going to go out on the limb here and say I'm glad my neighbors mostly keep their shirts on in their yards. An occasional skin sighting doesn't bother me in the least, but having it be common practice would strike me as odd. It also strikes me as "show offy" unless it's a super hot day.

I don't get what's so wrong about mentioning tatoos. I'd probably mention them too, not because I'm prejudiced against them, I just don't like them and wouldn't want to see them constantly. I'd compare it to a woman who doesn't shave her armpits wearing tanktops. Not that there's anything wrong with it, some people probably even find it sexy, I just don't like to see it.

DING DING DING!! We have a winnner!

Actually, now that I think about it, except for the tattooes it almost sounds like you are describing our neighbor down the street. We aren't offended in the least by him. He has been our comic relief for several years now. We like to call him "shorty shorts man". He wears cut off jeans that are pretty short and I don't think he owns a shirt. My oldest daughter thinks it's the nastiest thing she's ever seen. I just smile and wave at him when we drive by. Then we have a good giggle. He's always working on his pool. I keep saying that I'm going to make friends with him so that we can go swimming.

Oh yeah, I want to join that club too!!! Although DH doesn't have tats, or piercings, or go shirtless..........lol (I've been trying) He's got really long hair and a goatee and works in a factory though. Oh yeah, and he's hairy!!! But he's mine and I think he's purty!!!

I couldn't care less whether he had a shirt on when he was outside, and that includes if they are eating outside.

I wonder why the rule about no shirt, no shoes was developed for retail stores. I wonder if it came from people being uncomfortable about other people going around without a shirt because of modesty concerns vs health concerns. Just something to think about.

I suspect people who are out in public without a shirt are from a certain American subculture that thinks this is perfectly fine. I would suspect this is from a working class blue collar subculture. I doubt many Vice Presidents of Finance at a Fortune 500 Company are going to walk around town showing their bare belly and alot of tattoos.

Could you please make up your mind regarding the subject? It started out as a complaint about a guy in his own yard, and now you're griping about people running around town with no shirt (which, outside of beach areas, I've not seen).

Which is it?

What would you think about someone who never wears a shirt outside?

My Dad's big beer belly likes to go outside and expose itself. :teeth: Sometimes he goes out in just his boxers and wanders around the front yard (he thinks it's ok because they're just "shorts" ). I tell him jokingly he looks like country has come to town but he doesn't care. Hey whatever floats someone else's boat. Personally, as long as people aren't showing their private parts I don't care what they're wearing.

BTW, I love tattoos and have seen people from all different backgrounds covered in them. One of the VP's of the bank I used to work at had a ton of them and proudly showed them off at any social function. There's alot of things I don't like to look at but I deal with it because there's alot of things other people don't like to look at but may be fine with me.

Sounds like the OP was trying to get people to say how bad tattoos are. Seems like it didn't work out too well.

Oh by the way, my dh is a tattooed, ear pierced, larger man too!! And yes he walks around without a shirt on occasion.

Again, I never made a comment on the value and beauty of tattoos or a no shirt look. I just wondered what people thought about someone who never wore a shirt in public. I can see by the responses so far that the casual look of the typical working class man seems to be quite popular among similar working class women on this board.

I still maintain that it is a question the specific subculture (social and economic status) the person comes from.

:lmao:

:stir: you go OP! :lmao: as my "working class" parents would say - "not the way to make friends and influence people" -
and just for your notes - I am a college graduate who works as an educator in special education - guess I don't fit ANY of your categories, do I?
Have a great day, everyone!

Yuk. Working class or otherwise, when you are out in public (which includes your front yard) put a shirt on.
