After looking at the posts here for years I always wondered what the social/ economic demographic was for the typical Disboard poster, now I really know. It is a rough blue collar type who have no respect for modesty and like to go around showing off their tattoos and bare pot belly for everyone to see.

WOW :rotfl: :scared1: Nice stirring of the pot :stir: That post should definitely get folks going. I have been on the board long enough to know that there are all kinds of folks around. I for one am a college educated professional who mows her own lawn (when I can't get my dh and his potbelly too) and has a tattoo. I find it disgusting that you paint everyone in such a broad brush. The more you post the more sad I am for you and the people in your "world". No one can possibly be as good as you can they? Well, darling, you might want to be careful. With your nose so far stick up in the air you are bound to crash into something sooner or later.:snooty:

What a way to PO everyone! Yay for you! :rolleyes2

If you had any real intentions for being here, you just threw them all out the window.

Goodtype, your sweeping generalizations are hilarious.

Hmmm, blue collar types with no sense of modesty? Just because we don't have an issue with a shirtless tattooed guy? Please tell me how you arrived at that conclusion?

You also imply that blue collar is a bad thing. May I ask why? The so called comfortable life you live is due in large part to people who work those blue collar jobs.

Question was asked, Answers were given and the Conversation doesn't seem to be running the way you wished it to.

I have a feeling GOODTYPE is a cashier covered in tattoo's and piercing's.

And another poster stated that it was gross for a man to not wear a shirt in public.... That's fine in a restuarant no I wouldn't want to see it either. But in someone's own yard it is none of my business and as far as I can see my front yard or backyard is not a public place. I paid for it I still pay for it with property taxes, that means it is my domain not public. That's why I love living on a farm I have no kooky neighbor's to deal with.

You would think someone with such a high social station would have better grammar and writing skills . . .

Psst - you guys aren't real familiar with the OP and her posts, are you?

I am. The OP spends way too much time worrying about neighbors, old classmates, coworkers and the like. That's in between trying to figure out if her sibling is really a brother or sister.

Geez, makes me want to get a tattoo and run around without my shirt on--and I'm terrified of needles. :lmao: I'd tell you about where I fall within your broad characterization of socio-economic groups, but I don't really see that as pertinent to your discussion.

Goodtype, to be serious for a moment...I'm not sure if you're angry or lonely or hoping for someone to attack. But I'm pretty sure you're getting the attention you so desire, even if it's negative attention.

Still, if you would like to have a reasoned discussion about class, cultural differences, and general respect for others--minus the value judgements--you may pm me. Of course, you might not appreciate my stance on these things, but I'm willing to have these discussions with you.

But this public discussion seems pretty played out. Perhaps it's time for a lock?

Why the comment about the man being blue collar? Just so the people can picture the stereotype and understand who he is.

Remember the old comment "no shirt, no shoes, no service"? I remember a different time in America when people were more concerned about modesty and not wearing a shirt was considered tacky. Also tattoos were hidden not exposed. I was just wondering what people on this board today felt about people out in public without a shirt.

How about a person not wearing a shirt at a Shopping Mall or eating place?

You ask a lot of interesting questions. Not a judgement, just an observation.

Not that it's any of your business, "goodtype", but for the record, I wouldn't exactly say that we are blue collar. My parents were, however. My in-laws, were (are) not. As far as I'm concerned, there is no correlation between someones class and what kind of a person they are. I've known plenty of wonderful, moral, ethical people who didn't have two dimes to rub together and know plenty of people with money who don't have much class.

Hello everyone!
Good evening to Uncle Remus and Salmoneous.
Looks like we're still being judged. I just got home from the gym where I noticed quite a bit of people who walked in wearing suits and ties then when they get to the court, weights, mills, pool, whatever, they have tattoos! Visible tats! Kinda blows her "american subculture" out of the water, huh?

OMG I go to bed last night and it was 3 pages long, get home from work and its 8...Ok so heres the deal on membership....If you are hairy, tattooed, blue collar, shirtless, pierced, or have other way that would possible offend people you are in...I will send you my paypal address to send membership dues :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

YES! And not to be OT, but have we ever really gotten an answer from the OP on that one?

I'm not sure why, but something tells me the OP isn't who the OP wants everyone to think the OP is.

And PLEASE...let's not lock this thing...it's fun...and I love the chance to talk about my tattoed teddy bear...howsabout the rest of you gals??

Last time I checked the rules stated that I could join in on discussions as long as I did not offend anyone. The OP asked what we thought of men without shirts in public, and I answered it. I never once insulted anyone, but YOU on the other hand jumped all over ME and asked me why I'm here. I think its YOU who needs to rethink the way you interact with people on message boards.

I'm sorry you have a hard time understanding why I think its gross for a man to not wear a shirt in public. I just do. It has nothing at all to do with working class, white collar, blue collar, I just don't think its proper for a man to walk out of his home without a shirt on, unless he is at the beach or the pool. I'm not sure why you feel threatened by my opinion, but there it is, like it or not. You don't think its gross, well, you are certainly entitled to that opinon. I'm not going to jump all over you and ask you why you are here and make assumptions about you based on one opinion that happens to differ from mine.

And for the record, I come from a long line of blue collar union workers, many of whom have tattoos. I just don't like when men don't wear their shirts in public, it has nothing to do with the man himself. Its a PERSONAL PREFERENCE, got it?

I may have to rethink my membership here, people sure are testy! :(

You're more than welcome to "rethink" your membership. I have no problem with your opinion. MY SIL has the same opinion and I think the world of her. I'll reiterate what I said:
What bothered me and threw up a red flag was the fact that you only had about 3 posts or so before you post a minority opinion in a thread...and it seems obvious you aren't here for the Disney talk. Why did you join? When I first joined I didn't even know the community board existed. I stayed up at the top and joined in on all the DIsney conversations. When you post like you did as a brand new member, you only make yourself look as though you're here to :stir: . It's no different than making new friends. There are certain things I wouldn't say to a person I'd just met...as it might sound offensive. I'd probably wait a bit until I knew they'd "accepted" me as part of their circle of friends. It just seems the same unspoken rules apply here.
I've said all I need to say. :)

Ah, it's the internet. This person obviously has some sort of social disorder so they feel they need to act out online in order to feel important. I generally go by the rule that I don't say anything to anyone online that I wouldn't say to their face but then again, there isn't much I wouldn't say to someone in person, either. I guess I need to reevaluate that rule...

No ya don't - that's what I like about ya!

What really stands out is is dislike for shirts. He loves to show off his body and all those neat (??) tattoos. What would you think about someone who never wears a shirt outside?

I encourage all women to protest this but not wearing shirts outside as well. :rotfl2:
