Target 20% off coupon

We have two Targets in my area, so perhaps I'll call both. I have to go and return an item anyway, so I can ask guest services while I'm there.

No luck in NC. Asked the mgr and he laughed and politely said NO. That he heard that some were trying to go to $5K. It sounds like corporate is aware have warned the stores. I like some others are happy to abide by the rules here. The coupon clearly states "No Gift Cards"... but it never hurts to ask!

My friend did this just last night at a store in Raleigh for $4500 and for some reason the manager gave her 25% off (I think maybe because her debit card wouldn't work that high, but I'm not sure).

One last shot any advice from those who got it what they said?? I've tried Disney is considered an entertainment card I don't know what else to say!

From what others have said, it really does sound like it was accidentally miscoded once as an entertainment card. They ARE called gift cards - we don't have "Disney Entertainment Cards" at the Disney Stores, and online you don't order a "Disney Entertainment Card".

Yes, but my Target reciepts clearly say Disney entertainment cards.

Target is the one who codes them as entertainment cards s. Target gift cards.

You're asking them for a favor; to do something that isn't supposed to work. There is nothing else to say. If they won't do it, arguing isn't going to get them to change their minds.

I think the biggest problem is how the coupon is written. If the intention was to exclude all gift/entertainment cards, then why did they feel the need to specifically exclude iTunes cards. If iTunes and other prepaid cards are all considered giftcards, then all that needed to be written was giftcards, period. Since iTunes cards are not considered giftcards, then what are they? That's where the entertainment card argument comes.in. The.coupon actually created a division between entertainment and gift cards. And since.iTunes entertainment.cards are the only ones specifically excluded, there is a good argument for all.other entertainment cards.

No luck and one store even told my red card would not take anything off either. So I just left. Congrats on the ones that got it! Lol I was only trying to save 100 bucks very jealous the ones who did it for thousands

Don't go by a Team Member telling you the red card discount wont take off either because unlike the coupon which is not ringing up with the Disney gift cards and has to be manually overrode to give the discount the red card discount is automatic. yesterday bought $1000 worth of Disney gift cards using my husbands employee discount, pharmacy rewards card, and red card, all discounts came off no problem.

they code them differently because they are, for accounting purposes, different from a Target (or Visa/MC) gift card.

When Target sells one of its own gift cards, it is a debit, not a credit. They took $25 from you but they still owe you $25 in merchandize when you redeem the card. There is no gain to them on the sale of the card.

When Target sells a 'merchandize' gift card, Target makes a profit. They agree to pay the merchant a fee, say $24, and they have a profit of $1. The debt for the card is now the problem of Disney or SW or Chili's - those places owe you $25 in goods or services. Target has done its part and earned the commission.

By coding them differently, the accounting system knows whether to take it in as profit or debit. It doesn't matter to you, the consumer, what they code the sales receipt. You bought a card, you got a card. They could code a coat as a jacket, outerwear, woman's clothing or anything they wanted. It's still a coat to you.

The iTunes cards are like Xbox Live cards or PlayStation Network cards. They don't say "gift" on them anywhere, but they are stored value cards to be used for a specific purpose. iTunes cards used to be marked by the number of songs you could purchase. The inclusion on the coupon is an additional clarification, not a basis to infer the lack of other restrictions.
