DS14 woke up this morning with a 101.5 temp, climbed to 102.5 in an hour, body aches, glassy eyed, miserable kid. Took him to the dr since he has asthma, gave him Tamiflu (confirmed flu with nose swab), his fever is down to 99.0 WITHOUT Motrin or Tylenol (last does was this morning at the dr's office at 7:30 am). DS is up and about and looking good and feeling good. He still has a bad cough but WOW.

i agree, tamiflu can work wonders. DH, DD and i all got the flu on christmas eve about 4-5 years ago, and we went to a walk-in-clinic that day. DH was the worst-he'd been feeling bad for almost 2 days, DD and i were just starting to feel bad. we were all given tamiflu and the next day, we felt 100% better! glad to hear your son is doing well.

That's great! I wish I could have gotten my DS11 to take it when he got the flu a couple of weeks ago. He was sick for 5 days. We went to the DR within 24 hours, got the Tamiflu and it was so awful he couldn't keep it down! We had to have it compounded because everyone was out of liquid, I wonder if the syrup they used to make it was just nasty.

So now I have a $30 bottle of Tamiflu sitting here waiting for (hopefully not) someone to use it.

He got the caplets and hasn't had a problem with those. I was worried about the liquid because he tends to have a sensitive stomach.

I have to agree about how amazing it is.

I brought my daughter into urgent care on Tuesday because her fever was climbing. Took first dose on Tuesday night and by Wed morning she was fever free!!!

She also has asthma so they also gave her Prednisone.

Thank goodness I brought her in!!

Mine can swallow small pills, I wish I would have thought to ask for them. I can't stand any kind of syrup with medicine, so I know how he felt. He would rather be sick than to drink that stuff.

I'm glad both of our sons are better.:goodvibes

My son was given Tamiflu last week for suspected flu. He was negative on the swab but apparently the swab has a high rate of false positives. Since he has asthma and had ALL the symptoms of influenza, they gave it to him and he took it within 24 hours of onset. He had absolutely no relief from it that I can tell. He had a fever for another 2 days that was fairly high. So, I am going to assume he had something other than the flu that really resembled the flu.
