Well, the interview went pretty well I think. She told me that they had boiled it down to 30 applicants, then HR brought it down to 12 and met with them, then they recommended 4 of which I was one of. I feel like I'm on American Idol.
Anyway, the meeting went well. She gave me LOTS of details about the job, the department, their work style, the staff's personalities (all good signs I think). She also told me about the type of person they're looking for and really quizzed me about my management style (hands off approach). She didn't dwell too much on my past corporate experience but concentrated on my general character. Neat interview.
The best thing that happened was that she had to wave off the staff (all young women) and started snickering. I turned around and there was a small flock of females giggling and waving through the window. Great ice breaker and really made me relax.
After the interview, she walked me through the office and we passed two of the young ladies who both said, "Hi Rick!" Turned out I met one two years ago when I gave a presentation at the company (I remembered her) and the other one I met about a month ago at a corporate volunteer fair. So we all chatted a bit.
When my future (fingers crossed) boss walked me to the door, we were chatting about non-job stuff and laughing. I said good bye and turned to the security guard and said, "Well, I really I hope I do see you again soon!" To which he laughed and said, "Well, there was a girl in this morning but she only stayed for a half hour. You were in there for more than an hour so..."
Now don't jinx me guys! Don't say I have the job! She has two more candidates to meet with!
