My swimsuit has a full, attached skirt. Will I need a coverup, and if so, would an oversized t-shirt be ok instead?

I have that same type of swimsuit (Lands End). It's a small black skirt with a nice top (bra sew in) that covers the tummy. I love it, feel very comfortable in it. I also have the black shorts that match it. Just looks like I'm in a tank and shorts.

Where are you talking about going to? The buffet? Excursions? I never used a cover up on excursions. I feel comfortable going to the buffet in the morning in my shorts/top suit. But would never go to the buffet or restaurants after being at the pool, wet, lotioned up. So, I don't know if any other people do.

I'm figuring you're asking about the dining rooms?

If your coverup makes it look like you are not wearing a swim suit, you will be fine. If you still look like you are wearing a swim suit, you most likely will not be allowed in the MDRs.

I will point out the chairs in the MDRs have cloth seats, so if you're going to wear a swim suit (under your clothes) be aware your coverups will not stop any dampness from soaking through to the chair. And that's not a nice thing for the next person who sits there.

Thanks for your answers PizzieDuster & PrincessShmoo. No, it's not for the MDR. I thought I had read threads that said that a coverup is needed for walking from the room to the pool.

AFAIK, there's really nothing noted anywhere that you must have a cover up on for walking from your room to the pool. Personally, I would, just because I think is a bit odd to be walking around in a public space (not a pool area) in a swimsuit alone.

So, an oversize t-shirt would be the answer to your original question. And not necessarily oversized, typically I just wear a t shirt over my suit to the pool.

Just FYI... I bought a great cover-up on board. It's white terry cloth with pockets and a hood that's black and white with printed mickey heads. It zips up (with a mickey zipper pull ;)), and has the embroidered cruise line emblem in black. I love it! It was $40.

That's what I have too and I love it! I feel covered and comfy and stylish. I don't like being exposed so I would never walk around in just my swimsuit.

Wow! Not a bad price. Thanks for the info.

I have a cover up that looks like a dress with a stretchy top and straps. You can find them at Target or Walmart for about $12 to $15. :)

You don't have to have a cover up, but I did notice that most people had them & I felt very out of place the one time that I didn't wear mine going from the pool back to my room.

Plus, I was always COLD inside when I was in a wet bathing suit. My kids were often shivering in the elevator on the way back to the room. Coverups help keep us Floridians warm (we just aren't used to being cold!) ;)

Thank you for the responses. :)

We have a very tight budget right now (the cruise is through Make A Wish, there is no way we could afford it on our own). I have checked our local stores (we live in a tiny rural area, so any stores are 30 miles away, and not much of a selection) & I have only been able to find 2 coverup options in my size. One was $30, and the other is shorter than my swimsuit, and just ties around the neck, so I really don't see a point to it since it doesn't even cover my swimsuit.

Being cold is definitely a concern though.

As for feeling out of place, I anticipate feeling out of place the entire cruise.

Aww no feeling out of place! Believe me, if I'm not out of place, you certainly won't be out of place! I wear my hair in pigtails with minnie ears on, skip down the hallways, ask for the kid's menu at dinner... and nobody bats an eye (and I wouldn't care if they did! :cutie:) Listen to Pizzieduster, you will have a great time!! And no worries about the coverup, I've seen people not wear them plenty of times (I haven't worn them from room to pool sometimes, but I wrap in a towel. DH will go shoeless from room to pool... he doesn't care at all lol. We don't wear swimwear into the dining areas though). Since it's hard to find in your area, Walmart.com has a fair selection of coverups right now and Target.com does too. I just looked at Walmart.com and they had some lacy ones and some dress type ones.

So no worries! Come as you are!! :flower3: You and your family will have a fantastic time!

I have a skirt cover-up that I put on to go to eat at Topsiders, so my bathing suit top was showing and I was asked by a cast member to put on a cover-up before dining. So I went back to my chair and got my t-shirt, and I was fine. You may want to have something with you.

No we are not used to being cold at all LOL ;) Walking thru Cabanas wet is like going thru a wind tunnel!!!! Brrrrr!!!

I wear a rash guard, so while that takes care of my top (by the way, got my Speedo one for $7.99 at TJ Maxx!), and then I have a skirt that is specifically for meant to cover a bathing suit that I toss on not to cover myself, but in the interest of warmth. One thing we do is grab our lunch from Cabanas & eat outside on deck by Nemo's reef (same on classic ships). I've only eaten lunch once in the restaurant, and that was on the last cruise because our serving team was inside and they directed us over to sit in their section.

Bottom line, do what you are comfortable with. If you can bring a tshirt from home, do it. Better to have something with you 8)

Have a great cruise!!!!

Old Navy sells a lot of inexpensive sundresses - that's what I use as a coverup.

You can also just throw on shorts and a tshirt for the walk. In a pinch I've grabbed a pair of hubby's (clean) boxers and used those for shorts!

I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise.
