Stroller question

I figured that I would go to the experts.

We will be traveling with our youngest (DS1) for his first trip (DD4 will be a 4 time veteran when we go!)

We are looking for a good double stroller, and I know enough that people seem to be bothered by the "next to each other" seats versus the one seat in front of the other.

Can anyone recommend a good double that is small enough and light enough to tote around the parks? Is it possible that they have double strollers that are able to be taken on DIS buses?

Let me know your thoughts.

Hi fellow Philly 'burbs!

We always bring our own stroller. Although it is a little on the large side, we use our Tike Tech double at Disney. It's not that heavy since it is aluminum and relatively easy to fold. One drawback is I think the sun shade is too small, but it looks like the newest model may have fixed that.

We used a schwin freestyle double jogger...We used it on the bus and it wasn't that big of deal...it isn't any wider than the double strollers that disney rents...

I pushed my 4 & 2 year old and it was really easy to push. We are taking it again this year for my 4 and 11 month old (the 5 year old can walk or ride on the front over the tire...he does it all the time.)

I can't speak from experience, only that of my friends with more than 1 child.

1 particular friend with twin girls comes to mind b/c she told me her woas of finding a suitable double stroller. They started with a side/side that was too big to fit through doorways. Then they purchased a front/back and whichever child was in the back was always annoyed b/c she couldn't see and the child in the front was annoyed b/c the child in the back was kicking the seat.

They finally shelled out a small fortune for a side/side that was comfortable to push, comfortable for the girls and yet narrow enough to fit through doorways.

... so someone else in your family can push one of the kids.

Assuming you're going to have multiple people on your trip, bring 2 strollers and then no one person is ever responsible for pushing around 2 kids alone. Chances are...someone will WANT to be pushing one of the kids around! :-)

Plus - then you avoid the cost of having to buy a $400 double stroller that you'll use twice a year.

If you bring a double... odds are that you'll get BOO'D by someone :rolleyes1in your family! Just sayin'....

When we went to Sea World we used the stroller rental there and LOVED it.

They have the double stroller rentals at WDW right? Anyone know how much they charge per day? I think Sea World was $20.

We have the Combi Twin Sport & used it last trip. It was great! Super easy & quick to fold up. It folds about as small as my bigger single stroller & is lightweight.

We have a 5y/o & 1y/o. It's a side by side...but the biggest problem we had was when the 1y/o tried to steal the 5y/o's fries! LOL

I like the look of that combi twin. Right now we are using a HUGE Graco quattro tandem because the baby is only 4 months old. but this looks nice for WDW in Oct. when the kids will be 2 and 11m. Does it recline? My little kids usually nap right in the stroller. I have bigger kids, too, kids that are beyond stroller age (well, not by some WDW standards! they are 13,9,9!:lmao:) So we usually just let them nap in the stroller while the big kids get time to do big kid things.

We have the joovy caboose and love it!
It's a sit and stand, but there is a bench in the back so if the older child doesn't want to stand they can sit.
I am buying a new one this year. It's awesome!!!

We use Orlando Stroller Rentals.

They deliver and pick up. We have been very happy with them and they are cheaper than renting at the parks.
From AllEars:
Disney Stroller rentals cost : It will cost you $15.00 per day to rent a "single" stroller and $31.00 per day to rent a "double" stroller. If you're going to need a stroller for more than one day you can rent them at the "multi-day" rate of $13.00 per day for a "single" and $27.00 per day for a "double".

we got the Joovy Caboose ultralight and already took it on two long walks and to the mall. It rocks!

We just purchased a Maclaren Twin Triumph for our trip to Disney next week. We looked at the Combi twin as well. I love the Maclaren! It is light, folds up easily and quickly and is easy to move around.

Our kids, DS 2.5 and DD 6 months, both fit nicely in it. Each seat reclines separately and it has a nice sun canopy.

This will be the first time that we have taken a double, but based upon our last two expeirences (once taking a graco metrolite and once taking a Maclaren Quest) I wouldn't take anything other than an umbrella style stroller.

Also, I would not want to take two separate strollers. The problem with that is both parents would always have to have a stoller. One couldn't go run somewhere if needed (like getting FPs) without taking a stoller.

We have had great success with this stroller as well. And since we also live in the Philly 'burbs, you know it must be true!

We bought it at Kids and Kribs in Wayne. You may not get the greatest price ever, but a good one and the owner is a riot!

I second the Maclaren. I got one off eBay that was actually from Maclaren (thanks to the budget board). To expand on an idea from a PP, you could bring two umbrella strollers and just use stroller connectors when you want to push together, take the connectors off when you want to separate. Just a thought.

We used a Maclaren Twin Techno for our last trip and it worked great. Our kiddos were 4 and 18 months at the time. It was pretty easy to fold up to get on and off the bus. Planning to use the same stroller this time. It is a side by side, but I have not yet found a door that it does not fit through.

You're getting BOO'd !!

The Joovy is really about the same size as a single stroller, and not at all difficult to push. I did it everyday (every school day) with a 3 and 6 year old to get my daughter to school (it was a long walk, and I wanted to go fast enough to actually get a decent workout, the 6 year old walked on the way home from school)
Nobody boo'd in my family! It was just Hooray! Hooray!!!
We are buying a new one (new to us, I'll buy off craigslist) before this next trip because mine is extremely well used! There is no tread left on the tires!!!

I'm going to third the reccomendation on the Combi Twin Sport. We bought one before our trip last year when our DDs were 21 months and 3 yrs. I know that many love their Maclarens, but I thought that this was just as light and easy to maneuver at a much better price. It was also one of only a few that we found that had cupholders for the kids(we were replacing a Graco that had 6 snack/cupholders on it so this was pretty important).

I like the look of that combi twin. Right now we are using a HUGE Graco quattro tandem because the baby is only 4 months old. but this looks nice for WDW in Oct. when the kids will be 2 and 11m. We also had the Graco Quattro Duo and I did like it when they were younger, but once my youngest hit about 15-18 months, she was torturing her big sis in the front. She would pull her hair, and kick/push on the seat constantly. Yes it does recline, although only about 3/4 of the way. My 2 DDs napped in it every day of our trip last year. I also liked that they could both climb in and out of it by themselves, and that if they were in the stroller for a parade they could both see.
