Strategy for navigating MK

What is your strategy for navigating through MK (with kids)? Which area of MK do you visit first? Any tips would be helpful for a first-timer with kids! FYI, I do have the WDW Guidebook with tourplans in the back that seem useful, but I'd like to know what you do. Do you use FP?

Absolutely use FastPass. Even more important when you take the kids. You will spend a good bit of your day in FantasyLand, so you will need to have a runner to go get FP's for Space Mountain and Splash Mountain. Work your day around riding these top attractions during the day and have someone retrieve a FP exactly when your window opens. Try to be there early and get FP's for Space Mtn first thing. Ride it in the standby line, then head to Fantasyland and try to ride Peter Pan, Winnie Pooh, and Dumbo early. They get the most crowded early. Don't go in Philarmagic or IASW until later in the day. When your FP window opens up, have a runner go to Splash to get a FP. Work your way to that side of the park when FP is ready. After Splash, ride standby for BTM and get another FP for Splash. Go to Adventureland next and catch Pirates, Magic Carpet and then across to Tomorrowland to use your FP for Space. Catch Buzz Lightyear and Tomorrowland Speedway if you want while there and then come back to Fantasyland and catch what you missed. Finish up with your FP's at Splash
