Stop Making Me Laugh Or I'll Pee My Pants! Go Back! I Lost My Shoe! Trip Report!

Lacey just called. She made an A- on one of her tests. I think she said English. I'll have to call her back and confirm what subject.

I told her that I had written a trip report installment and that I threw in the "just standing around shooting the hay" comment with the rhino pictures. She said "No you did not. That's sooooo corny!" Maybe that's why nobody's ever suggested I change careers to be a stand-up comedian.

Now on to a little venting.....

My boss still uses Word Perfect 5.0. Yes, you read that correctly.....Word Perfect 5.0. I use World Perfect 11 and probably should upgrade a couple of versions. He thinks that the entire world is wrong because they don't still use Word Perfect 5.0 because that's the very best version ever. He's always telling me I am set in my ways because I won't learn 5.0. I tell him that he's behind in the times because he still uses a version so old that the cavemen probably invented it.

Before I go any further, let me tell you that I know nothing about computers. I know how to type real fast, email and surf the internet. Other than that, I know nothing computer systems. They just need to work.

Today we had a little conversation, probably better defined as debate about how I need to save all of my work in 5.0 version so that he can go back and modify them if he needs to. How I am not underlining correctly. What do you mean I'm not underlining correctly. You push the shift button and the underline button at the same time and stop when the line is long enough. Shut up!

Then, he tells me I need to make sure all the text is justified. It was justified when I typed it. But, when he converted it to his wonderful almighty Word Perfect 5.0, it's not justified.

Anyway, he told me I was stuck in my ways and I told him he was as stubborn as a mule and I walked out of the office. I did catch that little smirk of his right before I left. We have such a love/hate relationship.

First, because we don't want Lacey to be the red-headed step-child any more. Congratulations. Totally great job. High fives all around. Ok I just high-fived myself.

Second. MEN. Enough said I'm sure. When I did transcription for one of my old docs he had me type a book for him. I told him the office paid me to do medical transcription not books. He said and I quote because I will never forget it. "if I tell you to type the gd Declaration of Independence, that is what you'll type." Well, I did type it but I ended up doing it home at night and made him pay me extra per page and extra per correction. I typed that book 6 times. Do you think for one minute he even acknowledged me in the book? Creep. I did make good money tho.

Word Perfect 5. Is this guy 82? We use office 03 and I think it is too old but for what we do here it works fine.

I'm really proud of Lacey too. I'll pass along the high-five.

You typed an entire book? And, no credit whatsoever in the book. Farthead!

My boss is just 54 but he acts 82. He proclaims that Word 5.0 is the only program worth using. Whatever? Wonder what he'd do if I kick him in the shins the next time we get into a fuss about Word Pefect? Nah...gotta keep the job so I guess I'll just kick him in my mind.:rolleyes1

Well, we're back from WDW :sad2: On the bright side, now I should have more time to stay current on the PTRs and TRs I'm following!

Looking forward to getting caught up on yours :goodvibes

I will kick him for you.

I actually typed the last book by myself and typed parts of 3 others. He did give recognition to one of the secretaries that typed one before I started. Creep-head

OK! I did not know they had any types of monkeys on the safari! at least did not remember--it looked like an Okepi when I first looked at it. had to go back and look at your animal check list!:rotfl:

Second, congrats to Lacey!!! job well done!!!

I would love to go to Disney with all of YOU!!! that would be fun to plan something like that hmmmm!!!!:rolleyes1
maybe one day.....

your boss and the little girl; that is too much....I was one that believed you should leave children behind when you do somethings in life...but, if you practice family law maybe he should invest in a glass "soundproof" toyroom--you know like you see on game shows:rotfl2:
like the old saying: children should be seen not heard!!!!

I just subscribed to your trip report and am looking forward to reading all about your Disney adventures. It's just so sad coming back to the "real world" isn't it!

Come on, Ginny! I don't want to be stuck in the trunk again! Let's just rent our own car and we'll follow them down there! :confused3

Heck with a car, let's rent a really big greyhound style bus and we will all go together as a group. That way none of us have to worry about driving. Then we can PART-Y all the way and watch Disney movies of course. I bet there are enough of us to fill a bus. Or a plane. I might as well dream big.

I'm with ya on this one! Let's gooooo!

Girls, I will make the ressies. Everyone pm me their credit card #'s so I can get the deposit in. I figure it would max out everyone's card so please give me one that has lots of $'s on it. Please and Thank you.

Ginny

Don't you know that'd be one heck of a road trip! We'd have so much fun! One big happy Dis family!

At least you got a "to one of the secretaries that typed one before I started" recognition. Should have put your name at least.

Yep, there are monkey. I think they were about half way through the safari. Most times that we've went, they've been hiding out or sleeping.

I'll pass along the congrats when I talk to Lacey again this evening.

Well, I'm going to Disney May 27th through June 5th and everybody's welcome to come. I'd love it if we could all go at the same time.

Yeah, the boss is pretty straight forward with his comments even if it means he hurts somebody's feelings. I know to ignore most of what he says but newbies don't know to do that.

I think I may pitch the soundproof children's playroom idea to him. No, wait a minute, I know what he'd say...that would just encourage them to bring their critters with them.

Are you calling me an Okepi?

Sorry Lisa, May is out! you need to reread the first page of my PTR! we have stipulations we have to follow! :rotfl: you are next year the week we went this past year! just a little to crowded. Now I heard the week and two weeks before are not too bad!
I wanted to go again in 2010 May 13 - ? Dayne's graduation date... no go...will not return in May through Sept I was told. Oh! well

I really think we are going the week after Thanksgiving 2010! I would like to go the first week of Feb. just don't know if it will be feasible. so I really think that is going to be the week and it will be decorated for Christmas!!:yay:

OMG! The names you've called your bosses are making me LOL! :rotfl: Farthead was my favorite!

Seriously, I used 5.0 like ten million years ago. And I was thinking the same thing: HE'S the one set in his ways if he won't upgrade, not you! Ugh. Like Ginny said: MEN! :headache:

Seriously, Ginny: He SHOULD have given you some credit for typing his darn book. Let's say it again: CREEPHEAD.

Yay! Good Job Lacey! Way to go! :cheer2:

I have to say that catching up on your report and seeing how much fun everyone is having made my night much more pleasant. :goodvibes Great stuff!!

Here's a few :hug: for your mom tomorrow!!! We'll be thinking about all of you!

Lisa, we had a fun day chatting. Praying for your mom that everything goes as planned. We know you will be busy but know we are with you in spirit.

Ginny

Morning all,

I went to the hospital this morning. Surgery was supposed to be at 7:30. They didn't come and get her until 7:20 a.m. We got a call in the waiting room about 8:15 that they had started and it would be about 1 1/2 or 2 hours. I had to get to the office and open things up so I left my sisters, niece and aunt there.

Again, I am going to let them do most of the hospital thing because I'll be the one who has to take care of her in the evenings and weekend. And, I am the only one who still has a child to take care of at home. (My sisters are 6 and 12 years older than me.)

So, I am just sitting here waiting on a phone call. If they don't call in a minute, I'm calling my sister and see if she's heard anything. I'll update again in a bit.

Lisa

p.s. Thanks again for all the kind thoughts and prayers!

Thanks for checking in with us. Nothing like waiting for sure. I'm with you about not being at the hospital. She has enough and you know who will be there for her when she is home. I think recovery is pretty quick on this if I can remember right. It's been a long time ago that I worked in neuro.

Ginny

Just talked to my sister. The surgery went well and they are taking Mama to recovery now. I am going to the hospital at lunch to check in. We aren't sure if she will get to come home tomorrow which is what the doctor initially told us. Honestly, I wish she'd stay in until Friday. I think doctors send patients home much too quickly now-a-days.

 Lisa
prayers are with you and your family... glad to hear all went well!!! :yay:
have a great day! Lisa I know it is a big relief that it is over...
